- Girl groups face a lot of judgement, criticism and even sabotage. This video explains what it's like based on the example of Little Mix.

I based this video on Little Mix because that's the girl group that I know most about. I don't know the other girl groups very well and can therefore not tell their story. However, I know that many other girl bands face the same or even worse problems than Little Mix. Fifth Harmony had an incredibly bad contract. Blackpink is, as I understand it, completely under the control of their label.

Little mix is a phenomenon. They're extremely talented. When celebs don't show their body much people assume they have a "ugly" body. But when they show people call them sluts. This is sad. Little mix is a positive girl group. They aware young girls to love their body and be who you are. And yet people are hating on them. I hope they don't give a damn about the haters.😞

UGHHH that was the thing with Billie Eilish. She wears baggy clothes to not get sexualized and yet people still make fun of her. But at the same time when a woman wears something "scandalous", it's everywhere and she gets made fun of for it. The double standards are crazy and I seriously hate it. Little Mix's stage costumes are appropriate for dancing in. Leotards were literally invented to be dance/sports wear. Ballet dancers, gymnasts, athletes, all wear very tiny outfits for ease of movement. The only reason LM get criticised is they add some bling to their leotards for extra fabulousness for the shows.
exactly, like im a dancer and i have gone on stage and danced in a leotard with rinestones and tan fishnet tights for a competition and its easier to dance in than say jeans

So my dad's like the stereotypical, traditional no-nonsense African dad. But even when I told him about how LM were asked to flirt with men in America, he was disgusted; like, he full on sucked his teeth and was like, "No, no, no, that's not right." And was I just like, damn, If my traditional ass, African ass dad says that's not cool, then that's not fucking cool, dude.
Also, the one thing that pisses me off about LM and the criticism surrounding their "rAuNcHy" stage costumes is that the criticism rarely comes from men. It comes from other women. The same women who claim to be all for feminism and gender equality are the same ones who are the first to put the girls on blast whenever they "get a bit a thigh out", to quote one Jade Thirwall. It's super frustrating because it's just that stigma that girl groups are a guilty pleasure mainly for children - but that's not LM's target audience! So they're well within their right to dress however the hell they want, because, at the end of the day, they're really not hurting anybody, so this stupid pearl-clutching when it comes to their costumes has really just got to stop.

Amazing video. I'm so tired of this shit, honestly. It hurts me so much to see such double standards which always reveal racism, homophobia, sexism etc. Sometimes I wake up and read something negative that someone says and I think "Gosh, why is this world so sad and disgusting?" Why do people feel entitled to hate on someone that they often don't even know? I will never understand what happens in the head of those people who take their phone and literally vomit poison on social media.

The whole situation makes my blood boil 😠. The sexist comments, the double standard, the scrutiny over the super cool outfits (since when do leotards equal "hooker clothes", the hell?!?!). Some very loud people that sadly have power over the media really lack the ability to appreciate TRUE ART and TRUE TALENT. And don't even get me started on sexual harassment in the music industry. I remember Lady Gaga once said in an interview that when she started out in the industry (around 2005), it was a norm for female artists to be sexually harassed. They expected it because that's just what was accepted as normal. THAT'S FUCKED UP. And it seems from what Jade said about the label wanting them to flirt with "important men" that not enough has changed. WHICH IS WHY WE NEED FEMALE EMPOWERMENT LIKE THE TYPE LITTLE MIX BRINGS TO THE WORLD WITH THEIR ART. You know, i always complain that they're painfully underrated and should be dominating America and the world, but honestly if that means they have to fucking flirt with disgusting pig label managers to get their songs on the charts then SCREW IT. They should be respected for the amazing women and artists that they are. Sometimes it really scares me that all the hate they get might be too much for them and they'll stop making music. I adore my four Queens ❤️and they're all extremely strong, all of them are Wonder Woman and the hate they get is the most unjustified thing.

This made me bloody cry. These girls do not deserve the hate they get everyday. Don't people know how hard they work on their music? And in the end, it barely gets on the radio. I've never once heard a LM song on the radio or TV and it angers me. I hope that others open their eyes and ears and give these beautiful women the attention they worked so hard for.

INCREDIBLE video, it depicts the way the music industry treats women (and especially girl groups) perfectly. I know this is a Little Mix fan channel BUT I'd also like to point out how 5H used to face similar problems as a girl group (specifically referring to Lauren's epic "read your contracts" and "they treat us like slaves").

The thing with the outfits is that all the people that criticise them for what they wear are also saying women could wear anything they want but because they are a girl band it suddenly means they can’t wear what they want which is completely unfair and some people say it’s because of the younger audience but it’s given them inspiration and motivation to wear what they want I think it’s completely unfair and they have to go through so much already that they don’t need to be criticised

Aw, that's so sweet! I love this fandom a lot as well, everyone is inspiring and supportive. I'm kind of a new mixer haha i heard about little mix for the first time when Salute came out but I didn't become a stan until early 2017 when Power came out. I saw the music video and then a couple of interviews and my soul was sold to this awesome talented QUEENS.
You’ve done it again I’m crying my eyes out. Little Mix is so mistreated it’s really annoying I’ve never seen a girl group this talented but still get let down by the industry. When will this stop. About the argue thing. Maybe because their friendship is too good too be true, people just refuse to believe it. It's an envy kind of thing, of when we can't have it, nobody else can--so we try to tear it apart. Also any gossip of argument kept the clickbait headlines on.

I mean I would like people in general, both famous and not famous, to be more modest, but the "naked with insults" picture has a pretty obvious message and I don't get that people don't get it? There are definitely times when a female celebrity has said she is being sexy to be empowered when she is really just being sexy to be sexy, but that picture clearly is not an example of that. Anyone who spoke against that picture had to have been deliberately misunderstanding it.
