Across from Matsumoto's is Aoki's. IMO....Better'n Matsumoto's minus the lines! Also, if you're craving malasada's, checkout Kamehameha Bakery, just outside of Chinatown. Poi malasada's are go to/must try. And there's another Musubi Iyasume Cafe one street over from Ala Moana SC....
Maguro Bros. has 2d location in Chinatown. You can spend >90mins.+ in Chinatown & NOT look at half of the shops. IMO....Not really care for HNL/WKK crowds. When you come back, checkout Waiahole Poi Factory, Green World Coffee, Old Sugar Mill Coffee/Waialua Chocolate, North Shore Macadamia Nut Co., North Shore Stables, Happy Trails Hawaii & Gunstock Ranch....among others
I was just researching some food places for our upcoming trip to Oahu and stumbled onto a familiar face from the past. Thank you for the recommendations and we’ll definitely check these places out. If you are still in Oahu, Try Ken’s Fresh Fish in Laie. Jon found it by chance and the food there is heaven!! Local favorite.
You're welcome & excited for your trip!! We're unfortunately back to non-paradise life hahah. But we've added Ken's onto our map for next time. (we're already looking at tickets again 😂) www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=11lVbPQZ4B6kmjp9OA7TSa5HUQa9sZATA&usp=sharing
Some great tips and amazing food in this Vlog! The donuts look so good! But the shrimp look amazing! Those salads look great. So fresh. Thanks for sharing 🍻
Watching this made me crave a lot of food 😍Haha! Thanks for bringing us along with you guys on this trip. The shrimps looked so good! I always think that travels are made easier when you have the best travel gears and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for travels like this. Thought I'd share it with you guys too!
For sure! Hopefully you guys will like all the spots, the link to the map is in the description too 😆 You gotta let us know if you find any other awesome spots so we can go next time.
For sure! This is the one we usually go to - Koko Marina Shopping Center 7190 Kalanianaole Highway, Hawaii Kai (Cross st. is Lunalilo Home Rd) They also have the other locations listed here on their site! www.leonardshawaii.com/malasadamobile/
Yooooo this is an impressive food guide! Good job guys 👏$21 for egg tarts and dimsum is 1000% not worth it. Definitely felt that. That Kawhi jersey is tough though👌
@Peter & Lisa Kim Ugh tell me about it 😫 Now its like upward of $50 and we're wondering if we're fat asses and actually ate that much or if the price has gone up
I hope y’all had an amazing time back on O’ahu! I love a few of these spots you got to visit. I just wanted to point out that in the very beginning you mentioned that you were gonna highlight Hawaiian food but I think the only thing in this video that was actually Hawaiian was the poke. It’s a common misconception that because it’s from the state of Hawai‘i it’s considered Hawaiian. Hawaiian is an actual ethnicity. Like Filipino or Chinese for example. And just because it came or was “invented” in the state doesn’t make it Hawaiian. Lmk if y’all want some actual Hawaiian food recommendations next time you visit! Great video y’all! You’re both great on camera. Keep up the content! Oh and yeah, that dim sum spot at the farmers market is absolute trash. I’m positive they only have one time customers hahah. Happy birthday, Peter! Aloha 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Great tips and video. It's nice to see videos where people don't just RAVE over EVERYTHING. I mean, some things have to be better than others, right?! 🙂 Also nice to see that coffee place right next to Hula Dog. I'll have to try it on our trip in September. It's right next to where we stay!
Aye howz it! Nice vid I would recommend trying some hole in the walls food spots on the west side of Oahu there a some killer grinds hidden from most tourists! A new place my bosses brother just opened is called “Nami Kaze” local food all kines located at pier 38 there going to compete against Nikos wich is a tourist trap but I’m telling Nami Kaze is worth trying fair price for some amazing grindz!
I laughed at all your recommendations, cuz yah they're pretty much all the tourist traps, even the ones you recommended as an alternative. Those places can get lines just as long sometimes. Also, nothing except the poke was actually Hawaiian food, hope you'll try authentic stuff next time.
Our new video is out, made with the help of some of your recommendations! Watch it now - ruclips.net/video/eQOZhCH1RfM/видео.html
I like how honest you are with how good the food is.
Peter had me at clippers championship.........Yasssss! thank you for your video
Thanks! & We'll see you at the championship parade 😆
@@PeterLisaKim ayyyy!!! thats whats up! thank you for your tips, counting down the days for our Oahu trip
Haupia malasadas are the best 😍🤤

@@PeterLisaKim Thank you for appreciating and showcasing our culture through our food, I miss it so much 😩 but I’m living through y’all 🤣

Definitely Kamehameha Bakery 💞 It's in city square market place.
@@toriveee Ohhh, Kamehameha Bakery looks amazing! For sure going there next time, thanks! 😀

I LOLed IRL at the internally screaming caption when lisa bought the dim sum bc I know she really was 😂
😂😂😂 and then having to re-live it by watching it and internal/external screaming happens again 😂

Thank you for those line hacks! Could you share the exact location/cross street for the Leonard Bakery truck? This is so smart.

Thanks!! On a related note, we felt like overnight dim sum got so expensive everywhere, we used to eat a dim sum feast for $15 😭😭

I try the lillykoi and the guava fillings those are the best one for me
If you ever go back to the Kaka'ako Farmers market, you should try fatto a mano's pizza and grok coffee
This is an awesome tip & bookmarked. Thanks!!

sushi rice and white rice are different?
Yep! Sushi rice is seasoned with rice vinegar and sugar (:

Hi guys , great foodie video 😋 I wanted to know , do they supply tiny soy sauce to pour over the take away musubi ? Cheers 🤙
Thank you for watching!! ☺️ they did not offer soy sauce with our masubi, but I’m sure if you asked they can give you some!

It's "on Oahu" not in Oahu!
