- Car mods can come in all shapes and sizes serving various purposes whether they be for aesthetic or functional reasons. Yet, from time to time you will come across some car guys that go the extra mile trying to pretend like they live a certain lifestyle, when in actuality, never experienced such a lifestyle. These mods aren't your typical ricer mods. No sir. These are a step beyond the ricer mods. These are poser mods.
Ricer mods can be dismissed as some car guys are simply ignorant of what they're doing. Poser mods on the other hand, the car guys know exactly what they're doing but still, again, try to put on a front or facade that they live a certain lifestyle.

Where I live Vancouver, British Columbia all the indians try this... They buy STOCK bmws and mercedes, or dodge chargers/challengers or mustangs, straight pipe v6 fake badges. Revving it worse then honda kids. The ones who own bmw have M badges on 335is yet my 9psi Ka24det is faster???? It is cancerous here.... The only thing that stops me from blowing my brains out is the ammount of jdm cars here.

Haha, I actually went to my first track day (wasn't driving myself sadly) with a buddy of mine driving a Mercedes E500 wagon--his Mustang was in the shop but he wouldn't get a refund on the price he'd already paid for the track day, so he ended up tracking the wagon and had a great time... then the rear suspension blew out the second he got off of the track after the second session. We managed to get back to our college campus (bumpy ride lmao), he got a call that his Mustang was ready to be picked up, and dropped off the wagon. He ended up paying more than $3.6k in a variety of repairs on the wagon lmao, which was more than the initial price he got it for. To be fair, it was an older car with older car problems, but pushing it on the track definitely made those problems arise faster, who needs diagnostic tests when you can just do a track day and all of the problems will show themselves lmao. I will say he got lucky that the dry rotted brake lines didn't show themselves to be an issue as he was coming out of a straight...
TL;DR my mate tracked his old Mercedes wagon in place of his Mustang, turns out the wagon had a lot of issues and paid more in repairs than he did for the car

I think functional tow hooks are good to have even if you don't plan to go the track because they are still useful if you need to pull the car out of a ditch.
I mean, some people are really making up-badging into a joke now. I saw a Pic of 2019 audi s5 with a Mercedes badge and M5 badge. It was the funniest thing ever😂

2:39 the bumper swap is actually a good Idea. If u just prefer the looks of a zl1, I don't see a problem with that. But the Problem starts as soon as he puts on ZL1 badges.
Same goes for bodykits. I don't have a problem with for example a GTR bodykit on a GTT as long as it doesn't have GTR badges.
Whats annoying is that 6th gen camaros have no other aftermarket front bumper swaps. You can only do ZL1 or SS style bumper conversions.

I had a turbo whistle on my prius when I had it. Mostly for shits and giggles. But sometimes I'd troll less car savvy people into believing it was turbocharged 🤣. I'm going to car hell ik. But damn was it funny to me atleast

I once saw stick on exhaust "mods" (I just like to call them ricer add-ons), I mean obviously whatever adhesive they use will just melt off on the first drive.
One day in will add a fake turbo whistle to my car, go to a cars and coffee, pop the hood and tell everyone about my turbo while pointing at the alternator... tricky part will be to act like I'm 100% convincing that I'm serious. 🤣

I brought s a booster whistle once for my dodge 1500. In the area I live in. There are a lot of lifted trucks and 90% of them are diesels. I had a lifted dodge with a 318 in it. And was always ask if it was a diesel. So, I turned it into a inside joke. But, the heat from exhaust melted it lol.

We had a kid come in to the shop with a Honda Accord he had aluminum rear lower control arms zip tied to the factory ones so he can get the look from the back. It was horrendous

I just bought a 94 mitsubishi 3000 gt sl and love it. I was going to get and 05 GT but decided to downgrade on power a bit because the gt would be to much for me. So far i only have a 07 scion tc under my belt in terms of experience and a GT would have been overwhelming. Even though its a 3000 gt sl and not a vr4 i still find it super powerful so im glad im taking baby steps cause i would have crashed the mustang tbh.
I brimg this up because i looked at 2 other SL's before i got the one i bought and the owners badged them as vr4's. I knew to walk away from the purchase because they were not being honest and there were probably more problems with the cars then they were telling me. The one i actually did buy was from a army soilder and he engine swapped it to a 60k Japanese 3000 gt sl engine so basically its a pretty new car under the hood.

i heard they’re super unreliable but i owned a 1996 eclipse GSX that was always in the garage broken or disassembled and now i own an 87 conquest TSI also broken in my garage again! love them both tho!

Be careful. A friend of mine growing up turbo'd his 3000gt and the torque steer was really bad. For even a single turbo it would always pull hard to the side under acceleration. Beautiful car though have fun and stay safe please.
I like those very few guys doing the opposite....having an ordinary look stock car but having a real monster powered engine under the hood....I have seen stock-look R/T Dodge Charger putting down a Lambo with a slight throttle push! Was amazing

Mechanic of 25 years here and also been a car guy all my life I look at all that stuff such as posers or people that put the trim level up on the vehicle using stickers and decals everybody’s there just to have fun if you’re real car guy you’ll see through it so no big deal it truly is not a big deal have fun with your car and enjoy other people that enjoy their vehicles as well very simple

Personally, I’m the opposite on badges, IE; de-badging for a cleaner look and adding to the sleeper look. My Fox body coupe has no badges whatsoever, it looks like a 4 cylinder (which is originally was), but isn’t. 😎

The most common fake badge I see is the M on non-M BMWs. I lost count of how many I've seen already.

some cars today come with the front tow hook. my 2010 yaris has a tow hook from the factory but it stays in the trunk. its no race car lol. its for emergencies only not for show. the worst thing I see is big lifted trucks with fancy rims that will never see a speck of mud.
My neighbor bought a BMW X5M. And debadged it. Those M badges are hella nice. Hopefully he kept them.

I have a 2017 Ford Fusion, it has a turbo, but anyways I took the “fusion” and “se” part off I even wanted to take the ford emblem off, all for a clean look. The car is black. I wanted that clean look lol
So I have a 95’ Civic with the same motor as the 95 Civic Si, the real question is the previous owner debadged my civic completely, can I replace with Red H badges? Or should I just leave her badgeless, I can’t find stock badges for this car at all.
Personally I think the Red H badge looks awesome on any Civic. Oh, and any other sporty Honda. But if you're going to stick it on a normal Civic, you should make other mods to make it equal to Type R performance.

Prince North what did you think tow hooks are for then? it’s for towing your car around the staging areas of the track so you don’t heat ur engine up too much before a run or in case of catastrophic failure

My mechanic wanted my car to help represent them at a car show so they put their logo on my windshield. It blends in with my roof (white car, black roof, black banner) and helps block the sun a little since the upper portion of my windshield isn’t tinted. Don’t hate me please?
I DON'T have a nice car. I have an 02 ford escort zx2. Not flash, not fly, but... I actually really like it. Just fast and agile enough to be fun, but slow and sensible enough to be fuel efficient, safe, and cheap to insure. Moral is, be satisfied, and love what you drive. If I could, would I get my dream car? Hell yes. But I think I'd prolly keep my little red Escort around, just for the memories and to remind myself where I had been, and what it took to get where I was.
Also, a bunch of this reminds me of Richard Hammond and him putting a Turbo badge on his secondhand Porsche 944... The other two gave him hell for it.

Tow mode is fine because if you're someone who doesn't bring it to track and installs one for posing then he'll probably hit someone on the highway and end up using it.

I got a camaro v6 with zl1 badges ): I CAN EXPLAIN THOUGH! I don’t know if this makes it any more ok or not but I did fully convert my camaro v6 both interior and exterior wise. The only visible non ”zl1 stock” looking thing on my car would be the quad tip borla atak system, everything else, besides what’s under the hood is identical.
You can even make a tow hook from a piston, those are fun
i got the red badge says supercharged on my audi S3. which when my coworker asked i told them its not super charged lol, just there to look cool....i guess i need to take that off now.

Real talk. I have a standard ford fiesta with the silver grill and i swapped the grill for the black honeycomb purely because i love the look of it. Not tryna pretend to be an ST but im using the sweet front grill from it

The problem with amg/ m badges is that they come standard from the manufacture with certain car packages i.e bmw 1 series m sport. Imho that's fine, what's not is the guy who puts an M140i badge on his 2.0 diesel m sport.

I actually think that bumpers and spoilers from higher trim levels is ok because I myself want a new bumper to my car that is on the higher trim level. I want it not to pose or flex, but for myself, I just think the bumper looks better honestly...
