Hi Rory, the toilet announcing about locking the door is an accessability feature added after there were many issues with people not being able to know if the door was locked. It was a great thing to have come along, I was part of the group who argued for it with one of the conductors and a few other people.

When I was younger, my grandparents would always take me and my older brother on V/line trips, just because we both used to be obsessed with trains.
It’s been years since I’ve been on one, and watching this video is bringing out the nostalgia. Makes me wish I could go back to the past and go on another trip with them

I know it's a year on Rory, but, unless it's staff member asking you not to film, don't be afraid to politely tell them to mind their own business. I also suggest making a complaint if he was a staff member. You have the audio as proof of his unprofessional behaviour.

The one sprinter that was built but isn’t in service is actually serving the Stony Point line, the only suburban train line that is not electrified.

    • @xscorpiogamingx3166
      @xscorpiogamingx3166 6 месяцев назад +4

I used to live next door to the stony point line. I spent a lot of time watching those sprinters go past every day. There's 2 units on the line, usually running as a set, though occasionally, they separate them and run them as 2 individual services essentially halving the wait time when travelling in the same direction.

    • @comengsh

Great video, I enjoyed it quite a lot. Seriously fuck that guy who tried to stop you from filming and called the guard on you, was uncalled for, espeically since he was on the other side of the train and followed you to your seat. Filming isn't illegal, especially at train stations and on trains it's considered public domain, so as long as you aren't filiming others without their consent (which you weren't) you aren't doing anything wrong.
Anyway it's cool to see the newer types of Vlocity trains, espcially the ones that go to Albury on the standard-gauge lines. I commute daily from Warragul (on the Traralgon line) to Melbourne every weekday so I only see the original sets of Vlocity trains. I much prefer the earlier made sets with the thicker seats, they're much more comfertable than the thinner seats in the later sets, just wish the trains were quieter but that's just a trait of any DMU type of train.

I tend to get that on the odd occasion with teens or sometimes adults saying something or giving me weird looks when I’m filming the A series or the B series depends on where abouts I am or who’s around. I guess some people don’t realise that some of us are passionate about trains it’s a little annoying but I just laugh it off and remind myself that some people don’t really realise that different people have different interests or hobbies like train spotting or riding trains in general. I haven’t filmed in a while because I’ve been busy working and haven’t had the time but hoping that I’ll get a day off soon so I can get back on the A series and film some trains if I feel like it, keep up the good work mate! I enjoy your videos a lot and I’m differently going to be trying out quite a few trains you’ve reviewed in the future, the Australind being one I’ll have to do soon before the old Railcars are withdrawn from service :)

Also, dont listen to people like those girls, they don’t understand nothing, they are people who cause trouble. When I moved to a new school a few years ago, at the start of the year, my teacher handed out these cut out figures of a person made of paper, and we had two write on it our interests, what makes you happy. So, on the head, I drew “VR”. My class saw it and said “OMG you have a virtual reality headset??” Then I go “Uhh, you’d be surprised, it means Victorian Railways”. (I drew the old VR logo). My class seemed ok with it, in fact they thought it was different, but in a good way.

I loved travelling in Vlines from Ardeer to southern cross station during my Uni days 😍 I felt like I’m boarding a train to some countryside

Thanks for this video I'm from Melbourne and lived here my whole life and didn't know that Southern Cross station actually full shuts down and I've used the station late at night too I only thought it was the city loop that shuts down after a certain point. The last time I used a Vline was a trip to Bendigo and it was a bumpy and slow ride and hope they can improve for the upcoming Commonwealth Games that'll be held in regional Victoria. I really appreciate your videos they're informative and helpful and I learn something new each time.

Hi Rory, I just want to tell you some things about the H set.
1.As of November 2022,H sets operate select services to and from Bacchus Marsh and Geelong after VLocity trains replaced loco hauled services to Shepparton. V/line decided that once Vlocity’s start services on the Shepparton line it would be necessary to reinstate a morning up and evening down service operated by H set to Geelong and if you check V/line’s website you will see one service in each direction is rostered as Loco hauled service (H set) as otherwise people won’t have much chances of riding H set.
    2. The H set you got were actually a refurbished H set because on the Vline website it shows that the seats on H set is the same colour as VLocity units 76-79.
    3. The Shepparton line wasn’t the only long distance line operated by H set.In 2018 due to a lack of available N type carriages,H set was temporarily used on the Warrnambool line resulting cafe bars being unavailable which is far worse than VLocity units 76-79 operating long distance services.
Finally.Four H type carriages ran the last train on the South Gippsland line behind an p class loco which are similar to the Y class shunter

Some of these lines are in line for conversion to suburban electric Metro service, namely the Ballarat line from Melbourne to Melton, and extending electrification of the Cragieburn line up to Wallan. There's been talk of converting the Geelong line to electric as well.

Wow man thats alot of rail time in 1 day. I had a flatmate who had a job he didn't like as a transit officer checking trickets etc. He said after awhile walking through a moving carriage became like having sea legs & he'd get headaches when sitting still haha

Great video Rory. I have never traveled on a V/line service before. It's interesting to see what they all look like inside as well. V/line also have two P classes P12 and P15 they get used occasionally on shunting I believe.

Just got sent home from a city, public-transport based scout camp. I come from Pakenham so we got to catch a v-line train to southern cross via Geelong first (???) anyway, the district leader got us first-class tickets which was amazing.

We are very lucky in Victoria for having such a good working regional rail network. The coach services are nothing special but at least they service these rural towns. Without them you're kinda stuck without a car.
