  • Welcome to this railway video ‘Riding the Rails to Dalston, Wigton and Aspatria Stations’ filmed on Thursday 2nd May 2024 (Running Time 23 minutes 13 seconds).
These 3 stations are located on the Cumbrian Coast Line which runs for over 80 miles between Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness.
The first segment of the video features the Colos Rail oil train (No 70810) as it delivers 6 TEA Bogie Tanks of Oil from the refinery at Grangemouth, and collects 6 discharged tanks from the Oil Terminal at Dalston.
The remainder of the video features the stations at Dalston, Wigton and Aspatria which were opened by the Maryport and Carlisle Railway in the early 1840’s.
Northern Trains provide an hourly service throughout the week calling at each of the stations although both Dalston and Aspatria revert to being request stops during the evening period.
Over the past couple of years I have recorded videos at all of the stations along the very scenic Cumbrian Coast Line and these are available to view both on Facebook as well as my You Tube Channel ‘Stephen Bennett Railways’.
Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy the video.

Thank you. As well as the trains themselves I always like to take a close look at every station that I visit. Even the smallest country stations have some really interesting architectural features which help to tell their story.
