They actually played two instrumentals in Warsaw, Poland on July 11, 2014 they played Orion and Ktulu as 'The Song of The Day'

One rare occasion that Metallica played 2 instrumentals in one show was in Warsaw, Poland for the By Request tour. They played Orion and Ktulu that day. Lucky bastards

I'm in total agreement! Unfortunately I read recently Lars said it's the one song he never wants to hear again. He complained about the odd time signatures and said he hates the shifts between chorus/verse. Such a bummer, Justice is my fave album and outside of One, it gets nearly no live play anymore.

I’ve tried to listen to Fixxxer so many times to figure out how to appreciate it like others do. I just can’t get into it. Anyone have advice on how to appreciate that song? I learned how to appreciate St Anger on its own terms, so I’m sure it’s possible 😅

What I realized a few days ago.
A lot changed on the last 10 years of Metallica. When the 30th anniversary happened, Metallica had only played 3 out of 9 albums in full: Kill Em All, Master Of Puppets and Death Magnetic. Between 2011 and 2014, the list got expanded to 6 out of 9: Ride The Lightning and Black Album in 2012 and Justice in 2014. And well, in 2016 it became 6 out of 10. Amazing.
Honestly, I hope Dave would show up for at least one song. Recently he said some very sweet things about James and he also promoted Ross Halfin's Metallica book so maybe it's not impossible that he could show up and I'm sure Jason will show up for a few songs. However, the real icing on the cake would be Metallica and Maiden on one stage together. I would truly love to see that one day.

they're playing it at Chase Center, same place where they did S&M2 - i think it might again be something more of a mainstream Metallica concert. i hope they don't use the same setlist for both shows though
They won’t, there may be some over lap but the sold a lot of 2 day passes … that would be silly especially since they are also streaming both shows. I’ll be there , I’m hoping they mix it up
@@DeathPenny the only song they repeated on the 30 anniversary was Seek and Destroy, the rest of the four setlists was unique, I believe
Given the photos of Lars handcuffed to the case of setlists, I think this is gonna be massive. They know the same old mainstream setlist isn’t gonna cut it. I think they’ve got some real biggies coming. Only thing I’m feeling able to rule out from what everyone’s been saying is Eye of the Beholder, given how public they are about not liking it.

OMG WOW metallica is showing it live for free, my God, i am a big fan of metallica since early 90's from Pakistan and it been my dream to see them live.
If they ever do a show with Iron Maiden, I'd really love to hear both bands play Atlas Rise together given it was obviously inspired by Maiden.
I remember being a glassy wide eyed 11 year old back in 2012 just getting into the band, I heard tales of the mighty Metallica roaming all over the land and being the best there is, thinking I’d never get to see them. Since then I’ve watched so many documentaries, videos, concerts, learned how to play and studied their music, read/made so many Metallica related comments on RUclips over the years. I’ve learned so much about them and have taken in so much. Then in 2017 I got to see them. Here I am 8 years later from that one day I listened to MOP for the first time in 6th grade computer class thinking “man where does the time go?”
Metallica will always be here in my youth and for that I’m forever thankful. I

Even if Jason struggles to play now, he said he's 90% of the way there. We don't know if its "I couldn't play a Metallica 2+ hr show", or whether it's "I can't play Whiplash anymore", there's nothing stopping him playing a slower song like The Thing That Should Not Be.
Remember that the primary reason Jason left Metallica was not about Echo Brain, it was from being burnt out by such an intense schedule, where management was like "yeah we can get you a 30 min therapy session with some hollywood elite who doesn't know the band at all, but then you have to go to a photo shoot, and an interview, a charity event, then go for a 2 week tour. Family time? Sorry, can't fit that in"

I nearly shat myself when Fixxxer started
Mustaine got invited to the 30 yr anniversary which was more than enough. Having him there again for the 40 yrs is like inviting your 2nd grade friend to your 40th anniversary. He was with them for about a year not nothing more. The only one that should be invited is Jason but he did leave on his own so, it wouldn't bother me.
I could see them premiering a new song of some kind. Then hopefully where the wild things are and Misery with Jason.
I went by the venue last night, we could hear them practice. And yes, we heard Fixxxer!

@@t1naftore honestly other than the fucking dj that opened the show it was great, they played a little over two hours - opened really strong and road it hard. Not the best overall set list but with what they left out I can’t wait for Sunday’s show!!! They sounded amazing super tight. Fuck that DJ though - that killed the vibe before AC/DC and ecstasy of gold brought every back to purpose
I hope they play Jack or Ronnie too.

They already did the Nothing Else Matters performance recently, they wouldn't do it again so soon, so I think they'll cut on the Blacklist stuff for these two shows all together.

I was there! But the best part of the shows was at The Chapel.....Ottto,Taipei Houston and Bastardane. Now Otto is Robert Trujillo's son Tye's band and Taipei Houston is Lars Ulrich's 2 sons.... amazing, amazing,amazing!!!!!! If you were then you'd know what I'm talking about! Anyway it was incredible, magical, amazing and magical! Metallica forever,forever Metallica! 🤘🤘🤘

Fixxxer hands down the best song from reload
Cliff is touted as one of the major factors in the music and sound of Metallica in the beginning. It just isn't stated often that the songs on Kill and Lightning that are the most popular are ones Dave helped write.
As Far As I Can tell, only The Four Horsemen and Ride the Lightning are the most popular from those Albums with Dave. On the other hand, you have Seek and Destroy, Whiplash, Hit The Lights, Fight Fire with Fire, For Whom the bell Tolls, Fade to Black, and Creeping Death.
At the very least, those are ones that are played the most by the band.
Dave wrote on only 5-6 Metallica songs, his contributions aren't that big. Also, he didn't write Seek and Destroy, Creeping Death, For Whom The Bell Tolls and the rest of the famous songs from the first 2 albums. The only truly popular one he wrote anything on is Four Horsemen and even that one isn't his own song - The Mechanix is his (original) version and the lyrics on that are a cringefest, therefore I wouldn't count it because Metallica rewrote the whole thing and made it much better. Call of Kthulu and RTL still aren't the most popular songs on Ride The Lightning. And I don't know who is lying about that one riff in Leper Messiah because Dave said he wrote that but then James dismissed those claims. Why would James deny it if Dave truly wrote the riff? He obviously has no problem with giving credit to Dave, as seen in the first two albums, so we might never know what the deal with all of that is.
@@mdnblues Yeah, even Kirk debunked that too. Even went far as to say that there’s a Chord Progression that’s similar but not even remotely enough to warrant getting credit for.
