    My interpretation is that Lars actually wrote the intro for BOTH songs (With Cliff adding the harmonies on RtL). I don't think Dave was mixing up RtL and MoP, if that was the case he wouldn't have said "melodic intro" when talking about RtL, cause I doubt he would describe MoP's intro as "melodic" lol

    That adds up to me. The main Puppets riff is definitely one of the simplest riffs Metallica plays - at least in regards to composition. Once you get into some later sections it gets more complex like you'd expect, but the ONLY thing that gives the Master of Puppets riff its difficulty is the speed James downpicks at... which is cheated on the album, but I don't think it was because they literally couldn't do it that speed, they just wanted to get a perfect take and do it quick... so recorded a little slow + downtuned, speed it up. lmao

    Your background art on the walls is amazing. Do you paint that yourself? Or is it the same situation with Metallica lyrics? Either way, it doesn't make the music any less impactful. But in an honest vein, Dave Mustaine has been consecutively screwed over, through out the passed 2 decades.

    I don't know, it sounds like Dave is contradicting himself.
    "I didn't write all of the music in "Ride the Lightning", Lars wrote the melodic intro".
    If it was just a matter of Dave getting the song titles mixed up, and he was really referring to MoP the whole time, why would he even say he didn't write ALL of the music in MoP? He didn't write ANYTHING in MoP at all.
    Not to mention the "melodic intro" he's referring to really fits RTL more than MoP. MoP's intro riff isn't so much a "melodic" intro, it's a pretty wacky fast riff. Surely Dave would have said "Lars wrote the intro riff" instead of "Lars wrote the melodic intro" if he was really thinking about that riff in particular. Sure, it's a small detail, but a significant one.
    As somebody else pointed out in the comments, I think Cliff came up with the harmonies on the RTL intro, but I think Lars came up with it first.

    Idk, Lars is known to have a photographic memory, Kirk has no reason to lie, and Dave by his own admission doesn't listen to their music (maybe that's what's wrong with him?). Of course when Lars turns to Steve Thompson and asks if they actually did have bass on Justice when it was his idea to turn it down, and he had to make them change it when they ignored him... maybe even a photographic memory starts fading after 60 years.

  • @antoniocenteno1483

    Lars has written a lot of recognizable Metallica stuff, including the machine gun riff of one. But, i find hard to belive he wrotte Puppets intro, not because he couldn´t but because Dave Mustaine says he did and then proceed to lie about him not listening to Metallica. However, the writting credits for Puppets are very messy,.

  • @drosander000
    @drosander000 4 месяца назад +3

    Sounds like that riff has been around since pre kill ‘em all, maybe Lars played it on the D string and it stayed like that, then Kirk comes in and harmonized on the G with James still playing in on the D. Then James remembers it while writing Puppets and plays it in the E. I doubt James would go from E to D only to end up in E.

  • @nwerd7584

    lol what? the reason things like this happen is because people arent alive, or wont talk about them. This would have been settled long ago if people cared back then, they care far more now. In general music has gotten more technical interest, down to the bones. It used to be pretty surface value when you had to rely on interviewers to even get questions asked, and many just asked what they were told to ask. They weren't informed for the most part.
    Even Dave or Hetfield going on podcasts now. They mostly go on shows where the person is a casual fan, not a musician or its some surface-level podcast that's connected to some metal blog like metalsucks or something, and everything they do is cucked. I get being excited to find out. but the whole zeitgeist has changed. If people were this curious about little details when Cliff was still alive they may have known. Half the people who listen to metallic now. didn't when Cliff was alive, or Dave was in the band etc.
