This is a great video. One thing you can do to prevent any sway in the discharge line if you're using those PVC hangers is to put some glue on the hanger where it comes in contact with the pipe and you'll gain some good rigidity there. And that placement of the pump sounds just like where an inspector would want it😂
This video helped thank you. I am installing one in my house as well. Did he put the rocks in to help filter the water? I am going to do the same, and was thinking of maybe adding a flexible screen around the basin to make it even more filtered.
Really cool video Randy. I have a Love Hate relationship with inspectors. Crazy where he wanted that thing placed. A job well done. Hope all is well & Dirty Jersey out!!
Now today there is plastic sheeting laid down before the concrete is poured the plastic should be no less than 6 mil.thick !!!! That is for basement,s and and slabs for the main house as well.plus it help,s prevent any thing made out of mild steel from rusting in any outdoor shop or garauge.
I am going to dig a sump pit for the first time and I noticed you drilled pilot holes. I assume to help direct the cracking when you use the jack hammer. Do you think it is necessary though? I am thinking about just jack hammering a hole in the floor without pilot holes.
Bypass those pilot holes 🕳️ and it doesn't go right, you'll either be stuck with a really big problem you can't afford to fix or spend 20 times the money, time, and effort of renting a hammer drill and bit, and doing it properly. While I realize this comment Is a year old and may no longer be relevant to the original poster. I thought I would drop this here for anyone flirting with the same bad idea.
Hi - I am digging the hole but there is sand underneath the cement which makes it hard to dig deep. How do I solve for this? The side of the hole keeps falling in.

Gets rid of excess water in basement that can come in from too much rain, ground water, etc. It'll also help if your basement ever floods from the washer or something

I know this was a while ago, but that looks like asbestos tile to me. The telltale sign of asbestos is 9" tiles. Be careful out there.
Thanks buddy
Absolutely asbestos tile. Should have wetted this being that you were drilling and jack hammering
Never even saw the tiles at all. Nothing like experience.

No. It's just ground water going back outside so there's no need to filter it
The pebbles prevent basin filling with sand.
Inspector is a real ace hole.
Forcing the install right there.
To heck with common sense.
Wondering if the rocks got impacted with silt/soil yet?
I really enjoyed at this video you make very simple and beautiful work !! Thanks 😊
Thank you
where did you connect the water of sump pumps, or throw the water
Great video Randy. Its good to see something different once in a while. You guys made that look easy.
Thanks buddy. Ryan's a pro
instablaster.
What kind of stone or rock did you use to backfill around the sump basin? Thanks for the video!

Thanks brother

If your basin is flimsy, fit the lid before you backfill else it can go out of shape.
👍👍, I don't recommend using a flimsy one but you are correct in that instance
Why no lawn fabric around the perimeter of the hole? Wont the dirt just migrate in to the stone and eventually the basin?
Depends on the dirt if it's sandy clay I would use cloth. but if it's just hard clay the stone should be enough to filter.
Thanks...that is exactly what I wanted to see!
No problem. Glad it helped, good luck
I thought you had to put screen material around the tub before you put it in place.
With certain types yes, not this style
@@CountrysideStrong oh ok....Thanks
No problem

Great video. Thanks
Thank you
I have a sump pump I need to install , you guys want to help me?
Why didn’t you connect the floor drain to the sump?
Great video.
Thank you buddy appreciate it
Great job and great video. Question- where are you pumping the water to? Outside? Why not into the sewage ?
It's just ground water
I don't think you can legally do that anymore on new installs especially for licensed contractors.
Pumping into sewer can overload the treatment plant if everyone did it. That's why most new roads don't tie storm drains into sewers anymore
Why he made thos holes on the black bucket
Ground water
Your drilling holes through asbestos tile hahahaha
You'll have that...
Hi - I am digging the hole but there is sand underneath the cement which makes it hard to dig deep. How do I solve for this? The side of the hole keeps falling in.
I've never run into that I'm not sure
Do I need a weep hole for the pipe
Nice job gents. Thought I was watching an Andrew Camarata vid for a bit.
Lol he's awesome. Great videos

Hell yea I'd gladly do these. Not hard at all. I always like learning new stuff
Wow, good job!
Thanks Johnny
Good work and interesting all in one.
Thank you
Nice video!! Cool
Thanks
How long did it take?
Couple hrs
Where did that drain to ?
The pump sends it up through the PVC out to the front flower bed. It's only ground water it pumps out
Why drill holes in the basin?
It's to allow ground water into the basin. The pump then removes the water, usually out to a drain or even out to a sewer.
Should the homes be drilled on the bottom as well? Or just the sides?
The sides are plenty
The stone around a sump basin acts as a filter only let water in and not dirt
That's right
Interesting! I have no idea what that's even for 🤔😀

@@CountrysideStrong gotcha. We don't have basements in Louisiana. That's probably why I didn't know lol
It looks like the floor already has a drain for excess rain water.
That is asbestos tile
I cant believe you guys didn't remove those surrounding floor tiles before you started...Did you really lay concrete on top of them ??? WTF
u did not show it working lol
Trust that it does 😉
@@CountrysideStrong 😂😂😂😂
fucked that all up doing it that way
Well that's funny cuz it was a few years ago and it still working perfectly fine now
