You are actually describing some of Swedish habits in the 70/80:s. Miss the old Sweden. People were so respectful and truly happy. it's nice to see Japan holding up traditions.

From Italy, I was tought to leave the place clean for the next. Such as bathroom sink, restaurant and cafè tables. We are used, even nowadays, to bring the cups of cappuccino to the coffè shop desk to help them keep clean for next customers coming.

Well, yes, I grew up in a small village in middle Germany with a lot of habits / traditions, some similar to those described here. Some I was very glad to get rid of, the "best ones" I kept til today. And I wish, people would think more in a kind and helplful way about their fellow beings.... Arigato❣

I am a native of California, but one of the greatest experiences in my life was praying in Japan. I have never followed any religion, so it was the first time I ever prayed. I was at a Shinto shrine (jinja) in Hokkaido. People washed their hands, threw coins, purchased small rolls of paper that gave their fortunes, and prayed to express their wishes to the Kami.
I had no desire to wish for anything; I was moved to be grateful for everything in my life. I bowed my head quietly, closed my eyes, and let all of the blessings of my life flow through my mind. It was an experience of cleansing and humility. I've been to Japan eight times and on each occasion, I take time to repeat the ritual. While I can do that practice anywhere, including suburban Southern California, I found the atmosphere in Japan far more conducive to communing with 道.

I want to share a experience. I was hiking and on the path I was taking (it was in the forest on the way to a peak) there were a lot of large branches that had fallen to the ground from the wind, making the path blocked or difficult to walk on. Now I thought about the next person after me who would walk the path and took the time as I walked to pick up as many branches as possible and place them on the edge of the path. This made the path beautiful and I took a closer look at it. It was also tiring and took longer. But I was having fun and laughing at myself. Behind me, other hikers came up the trail and saw me picking up the branches. At first I was embarrassed that they saw me doing something so strange. But when I turned around a little later, I saw that they had also started picking up branches from the path. How nice. I was happy about this effect.
    Love to all of you

Arigatou! This video also brought tears to my eyes... I also open our balcony doors in the morning, recite a little prayer of thanks and sun bathe. Didn't realise that it's a Japanese habit from the past. Just started doing it when my life became challenging and I needed a solemn moment in the mornings for myself. It then became a habit that I do everyday for over 2 years now. It does set the stage for the rest of the day.
Oh, and another awesome thing about sunbathing in the morning is Vitamin D. It made me less sickly and a lot happier!

Respect for physical objects or a room is also shown when we take care of them.

Lovely. What I got from this: be grateful, be present, be respectful - of others and places you share, and nature is good :)
I live in a rural area of mostly older people, many of which only have contact with others when they're out running errands/shopping. One day I realized that, my friendly smile may be the only kindness they find that day. I hate it when people tell others to "smile more", but it really helps me have a better day, seeing that kindness reflected back to me.
I'm a former server and customer service professional, and trust me, little actions that make that job easier are lifeblood. Take a trolley/buggy/cart in from the parking lot and don't leave one there. Don't leave a huge mess all over the table, make an easy to grab pile near the edge. Don't splatter soap and water all over the public bathroom, wipe it off when you're done. Show kindness, show grace, show respect.

I agree. And the eternal now is timeless.
These are all reflections of living as natural selves.
Let’s breathe and persevere. I currently live in an environment that is the opposite of most of these things.
Arigato, gracias, merci beaucoup, thank you.
