#Abandoned
Can't believe the scale of that place . It was nice to see all that went into making these products. Also cool shot of the old thunderbolt siren at the top and the falcon
My father worked there 43 years .. as a kid I was fortunate enough to tour various locations.. there are many retirees still around who can talk the history..
There was no dough per say in the place. It was a cake mix operation. The tubes you said were for water to operate machines contained flour sugar and flavorings that were to mix ingredients to make different flavor cake mixes. The steel door with the weight on it was a blast door. Flour and sugar are explosive.
Both my Uncles and Grandpa worked there. My step dads brother as well. Thank you!
Grew up near here. Many relatives worked for Pills Mills. It is bigger than you can imagine and a huge dangerous eye sore. Sad that all industry is gone from the capital city.
My great grandfather was a former machine mechanic there YEARS ago.
Wow, this video is freaking AMAZING! Awesome work Chuck!
Excellent video. I grew up in Springfield and remember when this was up and running. My father-in-law retired from there. I even worked security there back in the day. And this whole complex is getting ready to be tore down soon. Lots of asbestos in that complex.
I live in Springfield, IL. Drive by the mill all the time. It is quite an eye sore in our city, there was a lot of industry in our town years ago. It is a shame this old mill sits empty
This channel doesn't get the recognition it needs
Lived in this town for so long its so cool to finally see what it looks like inside of there.
Yea the place was badass. The sheer size of this place and how a lot was still intact when I went was amazing. That alley with sky bridges and towering walls on either side was truly something to see.
Sweet... finally seeing something from my hometown on youtube lol
I would throw up 🤢 climbing 🧗♀️ that tower!!! You are a boss!!!!!
The control room was so cool!!
Thanks for sharing this. I have always wanted to see inside there!
Pillsbury Factory? You mean Death Trap Factory? This was an amazing explore lets go again ha! 🍿🥤 Voiceover on point as usual.
We pretty much knocked this place completely out though! Maybe we’ll go back one day lol. Thanks bro!
That's a fire door if there was heat it would melt the top of that and that weight would go down and it would let the door shut
@ 11:40, I still have an Osterizer Blender that was my Moms, same model, or looks just like it, it’s underneath my bar and have no idea how old it is, STILL WORKS though, when shit was built right, band lasted, not like the crap made today!! I was surprised to see that, wow, cool Falcon too!!
You consoling your friend was so nice
Springfield Illinois baby , this is the place most of us see everyday. Also buddy’s tweaking for not having an N-95 mask on the entire building is taken over by asbestos. They won’t tear it down due to the amount of
Mold.
The first time I saw this factory, I was a teen who turned at the wrong light, got lost in a subdivision I'd never been in at 11pm, and then found THIS. It scared the crap out of me. Took me a while to get back to the main road hahaha
What a shame it is to see the plant in this condition , back in the day I could smell the aroma of cakes being cooked probably from the test kitchen. Now it is just a big eyesore for the community and some day it will be torn down,.Amazing video scary and sad at the same time.
This place is dope. I couldn’t wait for this video to drop
Neither could I lol. Thank you :D
@@ConditionOrange Also, if you kept walking down the outside of the building by the tracks. There’s a couple small tents made out of small and long sticks from the homeless, I thought that was crazy. Also me and my friends were in the center of all the building admiring everything and someone threw a rock or something at us from a building. People are always living there it’s eery
@@jeremypajeau7244 Yea no one was there when we went. We explore literally the whole place and saw no one. It was a ghost town pretty much. Maybe because it was October and pretty cold. Idk.
Bru, just staring at it from taco grinko makes me scared
No cookie dough rolled down those belts. Probably bags of flour! The other building mixed dry ingredients to make cakes, brownies etc. the lab got samples if mix and miced and baked them to be sure the product was a correct mixture. Then into boxes for distribution to grocery stores. They mixed many products for businesses too. KFC batter dry mix was made there. This was an incredible video!
They have finally started to tear it down. Watched it decay for years. Heard so many stories from it's hayday. Sad they closed it instead of updating it.
That was cool great video
This place is amazing! good work guys
It truly was! Thanks :)
This place close a year after I was born. I always wanted to see the inside and go exploring
Springfield is just a sad city cant wait to get out of here work in this town for 15 years saving this time to make my escape I remember when Joey Turnes owner of Midwest demolition tried to take this down and went to prison
So many good exploration channels on the tube
Awesome Beautiful decay, just discovered your channel, new sub! Be safe, that water tower climb looked very very sketchy, yeow!! I always liked abandoned factories, pools, etc, just never had the chance to do so. Good stuff man!!
Miss this place! Welcome to the community :)
@@ConditionOrange Thanks
I have a look at this place every day
Do you ever get scared you are going to fall through a ceiling or get locked in somewhere from rusty doors 🚪 or things caving in? Or ladders breaking
Crazy how people can go in for something like this but nobody was allowed in when a dog got in and stuck on the roof
I was about to comment this as well! I don’t understand how they allowed her to die in there, but now they’re giving tours of it?? I remember crying over that dog.
I’m guessing they didn’t ask permission before they went inside.
Take the mask off buddy
@@kassimarshall4274 excuse you? If that was directed at me, I was agreeing with you but pointing out that they went in illegally. It’s what most urban explorers like these guys do. Also, my mask makes me money so I won’t be taking it off, but thanks for your concern.
Man ive got to make my way in there just scared to go by myself. Hour long did this journey take you guys? Nice vid.
Thanks! It took us around 5-6 hours to explore the whole place if that’s what you’re asking. My knees hurt just thinking about the hundreds of floors we had to walk up hahaha
dead ass i live in the area my friend was a pussy and wanted to stay level i’ll go w you
He went to the top of the water tower!
those pipes
You should try switching your subtitles to the RUclips Closed Captions so viewers have the option of reading them and maybe at the beginning of videos you could recommend your viewers to turn them on because it’s hard for the mics to pick up your voice with background noise or others in large rooms
Falcon shot!!!
Pillsbury had the dough to do this project. 🤣
Damn I live and see this place everyday of my life
this place ugly as hell 😭
I live in front of the bills berry bilding
My grandma used to live near this Factory it's actually about I don't know six blocks away from her house we always saw it it's called The Springfield eyesore a bunch of homeless people live in there you shouldn't go in there because there's asbestos everywhere and the guy's dog once got on the roof and caused a commotion a couple years back they've been saying they're going to tear it down for years but it's never going to happen always wondered what the inside looked like
Also PS there's dead bodies in that water they found at the beginning my uncle went down there once bunch of homeless people
Dude no homeless people live there. The worst thing that ever happened is some kids break in and tear the place up worse and break stuff. No dead bodies in that water.
flour processing plant .. no dough just flour.
I read it was more than just for that. Maybe originally only for flour, but it was a plant for more than just flour production by the end of its life.
There is no one even supposed to go in there
This in Minneapolis or St Paul?
:)
Springfield IL i used to drive by it going to school
Spfld il the Abraham Lincoln place
It’s getting demolished soon
Is it really? You know how many times I’ve heard this and it never happens? A lot. More often than not actually.
Nope. They’re doing construction to keep people out. March press conference
They just started demolishing it this week.
@@ConditionOrange they have said that for like 10 years
I figured lol
Place is crawling with asbestos.
I live in the city where this factory is located….that place is loaded with asbestos…why were you not wearing masks?
Iron Lungs 🫁
So is the post office. Has asbestos. The asbestos because a problem when it becomes dust.
