Loved it man. The music,, the commentary the scenery, wow. Great job. I wonder if you could share with us your kitted up weight. I'm 105Kg and 6' 3'' with my kit on and think I may need to upgrade the suspension of the CB1000R. I really love the bike and think I'll buy one. Thoughts for 100 to 110 Kg riders.
Thankyou kindly Kent. I'm about 90Kg naked, so about 100Kg in gear and with a big lunch inside me. TBH I think I need to upgrade the suspension too! When the preload is almost at max, that just tells me that I'm not using the 'best' part of the Spring!

Great roads. I had a Fireblade with the same engine as the CB1000r. It was flawless and went pretty hard. I'm sure that you'll love the CB1000r.

Looks abit spirited that ride mr Andy Cam , I’m all for people enjoying themselves, but always leave yourself a margin for error , in them bends , I’m not talking down to you , or being an arse , I’m a long time biker now 57 , and have had to loose my fast riding spirit , as I’m on beta blockers and anti clotting tablets , abit of rd rash etc wouldn’t be good for me , but 10 15 yrs ago used to go on some very very spirited rides , with a gang of around 12 riders , some very very talented and a couple came a cropper , not dead but air ambulance jobs twice , now when I see fast sweeping riding my heart is in my hand at times , ur a clever man who doesn’t need advice from me , but stay safe and take it easy , as I’ve told my son many times don’t be a hero, there’s none left ,, Shane uk 🇬🇧
I totally agree Shane. I’m all for margin of error. I’d like to see 57 at some point too (not that long any more!). It’s important to remember that the wide angle and the lens blur makes it all feel a lot faster than it is. I’m not a big fan of ever taking the piss out of the speed limit. 👍🏻
+AndyManCam Hi, der Magnet Tankrucksack hat es mir angetan.... ich habe das Bike auch, aber den SW - Motech daypack mit dem tankverschluss drauf... anfangs so, dass der schlüssel unten in der kuhle war, was aber nervig ist. Jetzt habe ich ihn aber so umgeschnitten, dass er exakt passt und schlüssel frei gangbar ist! ---- und nun sehe ich in deinen Videos dass es diesen, mit magnet, solide auf dem Tank liegend gibt! :O
aus er Ferne ist es aber schwer zu beurteilen.... würdest du dem Magneten so sehr vertrauern, dass du da ne 2000€ kamera + objektiv in die Tasche legen würdest?
Ich finde das mit dem Magneten sau praktisch! --- aber nur wenns wirklich sicher ist selbst mit gewichten bist 10kg drinnen.
PS: Ich bin durch die mods die du anbaust auf dich gestoßen - gute arbeit mach weiter so! ;)
PPS: Das problem was du geschildert hast mit "zwischen den gängen" (der strich der statt der gangzahl angezeigt wird) im 5-6 gang. --- ich dachte das würde bei mir wegen dem Quickshifter passieren! --- aber sehr skurril, dass es dir auch ohne quickshifter passiert ! --- das ist wirklich sehr frustrierend..
Total! Hab den mit Drone, Handy, viele Gopro's & Akkus verstopft und hat sich kein millimeter bewegt. Habe natürlich kleines bisschen angst wegen Kratzer, aber muss nur aufpassen dass es immer unten sauber bleibt. Macht auch sinn beim tanken. Ich kann der Tankrunksack einfach zur seite platzieren und weiter gehts. Kein fummelerei mit Tankrucksack auf dem Sitzbank balancieren.
Ist echt ein Problem mit schalten. Ich habe es so gelernt dass ich einfach mit Schwung schalten muss!

I have a cb1000r also but trading in for a duc scrambler 1100. i think i will miss the high rpm hp of the honda but im looking forward to the low end torque of the scrambler. plus the sound and the style add to the ‘feel’ im looking for. I live in florida so my putting around is all flat land. youve ridden both, any input you have is appreciated. Im 40, sunday rider. cruising around back roads mostly. Take care
Many thanks Brad! I can totally understand the trade in for the Scrambler mate. It was totally on my short list after my ride in Tirol on one. Utterly enjoyed the hell out of it. If I lived closer to the twisties I would definitely have considered it a lot more. Love the style, the noise is awesome and the handling was superb. I didn't notice the lack of power because the low end was so useable. Sadly a bit too much 'character' for my use case, but still a large soft spot in my heart for that bike!

First and foremost thanks for the work of uploading and editing your footage. All those cameras and downloading, editing is tedious to say the least! This is the kind of riding I like to do when I can find those able. Usually have to settle for kids half my age on 600 cc super sports that like to pop wheelies in town. However excellent footage! once I opened up the screen and focused I caught my self leaning with you guys in some of the corners. I know its a lot of work to get your body positioning correct back and forth, but its a must or your gonna whittle down your pegs lol. Right on and peace from across the pond.

We tried to stay off of the beaten track for most of the day and avoid as much of the traffic as possible. Luckily you just can't go wrong down there!

You've outdone yourself with this one Andy, The location is great, the action is jam-packed and you had absolutely lovely weather in the black forest, something unheard of! I hear you Stephen. Sadly I’m faced with 2 problems. 1, you’re very much in the minority there! 2, One sided conversations about the weather or deafening wind noise don’t make for pleasurable listening! You’ll just have to trust me that when the choice between original audio and music comes up, I’ll make the right choice.

Thanks! I'm not sure I understand what you mean Thilo. How can I be a bad rider for those behind me? I ride to give myself the best visibility and the highest safety. Every other rider should also be doing the same for themselves.

Trust me, the parts were I’m using both lanes is NOT where anybody in their right mind would want to be overtaking me!! Ultimately if there were someone behind me who wanted to get past, I’d make space and let them pass. Otherwise I’m using the whole road to maximise my visibility ahead. 👍🏻
try to lower your spring preload in the front, increase spring preload in the back - more agile, less stable
Cheers Heinz Peter. I've already jacked up the rear preload a fair bit. i think that a simply better rear shock is in order at some point though! Perhaps also heavier springs at the front because if I reduce the preload any more, the front end dive is a little bit too much for my tastes.
@@AndyManCam I bought my cb 1000 r 2018 and since then I´ve got an YSS rear shock. The damping just wasn´t enough and they didn´t change it since today. The yss works well, especially the adjustable length (+-5mm, sum 10mm) helps to make the cb agile nearly as much as you want and you get more ground clearance, too. If you imagine a curve which describes agility and stability over the lean angle (front back) it feels like an "U" or "V". There is a "sweetspot" where it is extremely (mb too much) agile, like a tipping point. If you go more to the left or the right it becomes stable but feels different. One side feels like the bike steers after leaning, the other feels like steering before leaning and it is depending on the speed you´re driving. For me the best point is the back a little bit lower than this point (not sure if the other direction is dangerous in any way, no clue). Some people prefer a more stable bike and push the handle bars to get the direction changed hard enough, but because of the line youre driving I would guess, that it is too stable for you at the moment. If you want to buy a new rear shock, you can try yss (if you want to save a little bit money). However I would recomment to buy Wilbers or even Öhlins , depending on the money you want to spend. My GS 1150 has 2 Wilbers (front and back). There are some details Wilbers just made better. Because of it is very hard to change the rear shocks preload while it is inside the bike I just bought a hydraulic preload adjuster for my yss. Be always sure to keep some static sag while adjusting the preload or the bike becomes unstable on high speeds, it kicks you out of the seat and wobbles. I learned that rebound damping front shouldn´t be to high either. If it is too high it becomes unstable > 220km/h combined with some bumps. Hope that helps you to get faster learning curve than mine. I wish you alot of fun and always remember the masters words "Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is essentially your own." :D good luck
Thanks for the tips HP. I'm learning with my advancving years that it's almost always better to spend a little more and get the good stuff! Not Öhlins good, but Wilbers certainly looks like a favourite possibility.

This was a bit of a belter. I had the cameras running for almost the entire 400ish km. So in total i had about 6 hours of footage. Per camera. For 3 cameras! 😱

The struggle is real!
I get the sense of where your head is at, just watching you pass by some amazing culture at light speed: time to travel, catching the next ferry, it all requires light speed time. Personally, I have traveled the same roads at 100+kph on my motorcycle, and 20-kph in a recumbent trike. Believe me when i ride at 100+kph, I'm missing everything. I could not believe all the interest in an area until I slowed it down. I'm not knocking you, the speed is a rush, especially on camera for the audience, it's just there is so much more to share if you slowed it down. I love your videos because it takes me to where I have never been before. Yet, because of the nature of your videos, I will never learn more of where you have been.
I totally agree with you. Although speed is fun and exciting, I do think it's important to see whats around you as well. Obviously in this video there is mostly dense forest, which unless you'Re going to head off the road and into the thick of it, looks quite similar for miles and miles! But we did try to cruise slowly by the beautiful sights and views. Plus the B500 is now heavily restricted, so there is no option than to gently meander along the rolling bends and take it all in. Your thoughts are a very strong argument for not doing too many miles on a day as well though. On this trip Matt, the tour leader, is a very miles oriented and fast riding motivated planner. As such we had a lot of distance to cover and not much time to stop and smell the coffee. Which made for a very enjoyable ride! Plus I can completely understand his attitude there as him and Mike were cooped up in the UK with no hope of a european trip and then suddenly the gates were open! Of course they wanted to squeeze as much in as possible! If I'd have been touring alone, there certainly would have been (hopefully, barring the usual cock-ups!) less miles and more room to stop and bugger about basking in the beautiful views! Each to their very own though. 👍🏻

Hi Andy, I'm new to videoing my rides and was in Switzerland this summer on my Superduke, I didn't feel like I was going slow but my footage makes it looked like I was crawling! Your footage is amazing, it looks like you're doing warp 9!!? What's the trick? I've heard of people using ND filters to 'force' more motion blur, is that what you're doing?
Hey Chris! ND filters and locked ISO values are the secret mate. It adds extra levels of complication and when you get it wrong, the footage is scrap. But when it works, it's great! I have these ones: amzn.to/3au8pry

People who only want to hear the engine. People who would rather music. People who wanted me to talk more and people who wished I’d talked less. It’s an impossible task to make the perfect video, but I’m trying to at least head in the right direction!

You cannot argue the functionality of a GS for touring or any adventure style bikes but I know what I would always prefer, anything other. Enjoyed the vid :)
So very true Paul. They're amazing and impressive machines. But I wouldn't trade my nippy naked for one in the twisties, no matter what any GS owners say!

Haha! In all honesty, it was more the toe sliders on my clowns feet! But they're almost worn out now ! I totally agree though. 30€ worth of petrol will get you a LOT of enjoyment in the Black Forest!

When YOU jump into the forest, THEN you have airspeed.......
It was a joke. 🙄 Though technically airspeed is used as a measure to differentiate between speed through the air and speed over the Ground (groundspeed). When you’re flying at 100mph into a 100mph headwind then your airspeed is 100mph but your groundspeed is zero. But ultimately, while the wheels are on the ground, the airspeed and the groundspeed are identical.

Thanks mate. It's important not to judge a situation when you can't actually see through the eyes of those you're criticising. He's maintaining his visibility down the road and can see plenty far enough ahead that nothing is coming.

Yes mate, very much so! Loving the crap pout of it and no sign of that changing any time soon. Especially now I've made a few more personal mods to make it fit a bit better. Wider, flatter bars have made the world of difference. (Video to come, of course!)

I've been to Titisee when it was sunny, and about 30° as well, maybe three times as a matter of fact Mr Mancam. On the other hand also when it was pissing.
Is it just my perception or do you hang off this new Honda less than you used to on t'other bike?
Same here, though I've mostly only seen it in rain! I do think that I hang off of the Honda a lot less. I think it just feels somehow more stable and composed and I don't feel the need to balance out the weight of it in the bends. Not sure how much is psychological, but it's definitely a more relaxing ride.

I know right! It was fantastic! And the lack of real rain was also a huge bonus! I'm afraid that the CB is SO good, that I actually don't miss the FZ1. It was amazing, but the Honda just fits and works better. Looks cooler too IMHO! But I can't say that too much until the FZ1 owners get used to it! 😜
