    I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of this list. It isn't simply, "I love the suspension, the engine, the sound, etc." You give specific reasons why you love the things that you do. If I were in the market for this bike, your two list videos would be essential viewing. Thanks for the hard work.

      @@AndyManCam great review Andy! Question: how tall are you and how do you fit? I’m 6’1” with long let’s and wonder whether I will fit. For reference, I’ve ridden the Tuono and that feels almost perfect for me

    I have been drooling over the looks of this bike ever since I laid eyes on it, but the test ride I took didn’t excite me much. Coming from a VFR800 I bought a 2007 FZ1 which has all the performance I could ever want. Your video has certainly sparked up my old crush on the CB. I think I should treat myself and this Honda to a second rendezvous. Nice video!

    So I took the plunge and got my plus 18 plate model last week. It has pilot 6s and handles like its on rails. Sounds blimin awesome with the full Acrapovic system with no flat spot and delivers a great torque curve all the way up into the rev range. So far so good, front end is well planted and atm no issues with the std rear shock. Like both the videos you put up as its a good insight to what is generally a very nicely put together bike.

    The problem is it may not be available in the U.S.
    We never got the 2019 Plus version out in U.S ,so the blackout may not happen.
    The 2019 models are discounted very heavily out here in U.S...

    • @AndyManCam

      The Blackout model is very cool. Everything else just looks a bit naff though IMHO. They've made all the aluminium trims smaller, so more of the ugly plastic and pipework is showing (the radiator trim was already too small to cover the radiator, and now its 30% smaller!). They should have just created a Blackout version of the 2020 model and saved the money on making new parts that nobody really wants!

    Hi Andy. I've just bought a 2019 plus model ( private sale). It's got the OEM Dunlop tyres on it. Not very impressed with them. The bike has 4000 miles on the clock, so after a service, I shall be swapping the tyres. I had Avon 3d ultra tyres on my cbr6000f, and they were great. Might try the Avon Spirit tyres, not that I ride in the wet that much. Just want to feel confident with my tyre choice. Also considering Michelin or Bridgestone. Since buying my bike, I have watched quite a few of your videos. Cheers for all your info, stay safe Sir 👍

      I absolutely loved it mate. The motor is absolutely cracking. With the added benefit that being a sleeved down 1290, it’s never really stressed so should run forever. It was comfortable, easy to ride but with torque and chassis that meant i could really push on in the twisties. Mine also had comfort seat, heated grips and heated seat, so it was luxury on the long rides. If the used prices hadn’t gone crazy, i likely would have got another one gladly. That said, the only thing i would have changed was the weight. Therefore the Aprilia, at 35kgs lighter, was the infect choice.

    I agree that this silver looks better than any other I've seen. The overall looks and engine are this bike's big selling points. Its tractability is a big draw for me. I love being able to ride through villages at 30 mph in top. It's civilised. My old B-King would actually do it at 20 mph. And on zero throttle opening. The single-sided swingarm is a thing of beauty and practicality. I didn't know about the underseat storage. A definite plus. I also like the registration plate holder.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 года назад

      Hard to say. Sure the fuelling is way smoother than my last litre bike was, making this seem a little tamer. But the torque at the low end is much fatter and the fireworks at the top end are a Bit more explosive! But then i guess that you could just smash it into rain mode to begin with and get used to the grunt. That way the bike can grow with your abilities as you steadily unleash the ponies. Possibly better than first buying a 600 and then trading it in a year later for a 1000! These days, litre bikes are overall far more accessible than they used to be. 👍🏻. I’ve never ridden a Striple RS, but if they were physically a bit bigger, i seriously would have considered one next to the Honda. Let’s be honest, that 765 is sweet as a nut and nobody really needs more power than it has!

      I have ridden the Suzuki, but it was a few years ago now so probably not at all relevant for the latest version. Froma what I remember though, the suspension was much tighter on the Suzuki and the engine was possibly smoother too. But the overall package and styling of the Honda grabbed me the most. Once I'd upgraded the rear shock and tweaked the forks, the handling on the Honda was great. But the buzzy vibes were always there...

    • @Route_Twisk
      @Route_Twisk Год назад +1

      Thank you Andy for sharing. Very interesting insight.
      With no test rides here, best I could muster was a sit. The Suzuki placed me over the front wheel, much like my 2010 Z1000 did. Loved the handling on that bike. The CB, with its longer tank had me further away, a bit like my Z900RS Cafe, which I never gelled with. Not concluding seat positioning translates into handling though.
      On quality of finish, the CB is in another league.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  Год назад +1

      I will say that the styling of the CB1000R certainly is another level, but the quality sadly let me down. Soft paint and quickly corroding bolts. I know what you mean about the ‚long‘ feel of the CB, but i never found that it reduced handling or feel from the front. It did mean more pressure on my wrists on longer rides though.

      @AndyManCam  3 года назад +1

      Yes and no. The power settings mean that you can ease into it and the traction control should stop you getting into trouble. But that said, it's still a big bike with a LOT of power for a first machine. Everybody drops their first bike and everybody gets into hot water with their first bike. Sure these bikes are far more rideable than they used to be in the 'olden days' but I'm still not 100% sure that a 1000cc bike is ever the best starting point. On a lighter bike, with less power, you actually learn the fine art of biking. You learn how to do the technical stuff well like U-turns and filtering, without the bulk of the large bike handicapping you. You also learn how to ride properly and carry your speed smoothly through corners, because you don't have the grunt to simply squirt back up to speed afterwards. I wouldn't be the rider I am today if I hadn't had a string of smaller and less powerful bikes, all without any of the rider aids that this bike has. I learned how to ride properly and fully manually, rather than relying on the tricks in the bikes brain to make me feel like a good rider. Also when I dropped each and every one of those bikes, it didn't cost a fortune to fix them up! As a result I can ride this bike faster, safer and smoother and almost never actually have to rely on the aids to keep me pointing in the right direction. Of course, that's just my opinion. I started biking a fairly long time ago, when litre bikes were more akin to riding a dragon than the tamed beasts that they are nowadays!

      Although I totally agree ( I flashed the ECU with FTECU and removed the fuel cut. The difference was remarkable) I'd still have to say that the fuelling on the Honda is still much better. I think there is only so much you can do with a first gen EFI bike and it'S only fitting that a much newer machine is better in that respect. So if someone has an FZ1 and doesn'T want to shell out on a new machine, I would 100% advocate your thoughts. For me though, it was time for a change anyway! coupled with the fact that here in Germany, ECU flashing is a very dark and mostly illegal art that isn't as easily accessible as it is in the rest of the world. I agree, great looking bike. With the exception of that number plate holder, I saw one fitted with a tail tidy and it looked much nicer imo. Also I don't understand why honda continue to fit rubber brake lines when braided stainless steel ones must be no more costly.

      I think that's something that many manufacturers will continue to do. If they can save 50p per bike... I'm still holding on the idea of the low plate holder. I'm going to see if I can't modify it somehow to make it prettier...

    On the neo, backpast bullshit....bullshit....why can't people see this as a naked fireblade without all the heat....nice enuff for sure ....I've got a fourteen....but it should have been at least an eleven hundred out of a blackbird for a real neo ball-kicking bike...🤓In that frame packaging....😳

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  2 года назад

      I disagree. The engine is more than enough for the package. Just because KTM and Aprilia have 180hp bikes, doesn’t make more power the be all and end all. If the 1100 is smoother, then sure. But i never find myself unhappy with this bikes ‚ball-kicking‘ abilities and I’ve had no trouble keeping up with folks on far more larily engined machines.

      In the positive Video, i Talk about the smoothness of the fuelling and the power delivery. Overall, it’s a very smooth running engine. But in the negative video i talk about the specific rev range in which the bike is annoyingly buzzy. The devil is in the details Smoky. Maybe pay attention to them next time. 😘

    • @SmokysRides

      @@AndyManCam I paid attention to the comments on the rev range. Just wasn't planning to annotate every detail. Either an engine is buzzy or it isn't. Especially if that is happening in an rpm range you use or travel through often, and not just at the top of the band

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 года назад

      @@SmokysRides You couldn’t be more wrong. From 0-3000 it’s as smooth as you like. From 3000 it starts to get buzzy and after 6000 it starts to smooth out again. Probably a combination of fuelling and the resonance of the parts of the engine as they jump around at different speeds. But hey, who am I to say. I only own one.
