So I am binge watching your 2021 declutter series because girl I feel ya ALL TOO WELL! I just wanted to say you go girl and congrats on your progress and thank you for motivating and inspiring me. Also when you broke the cooking wine in the pantry my Alexa heard you say "What a Man" when your hubby cleaned it up and conveniently turned on "What a Man" by SaltNPeppa lol!

My cousin repairs appliances and has for decades. (My grandfather sold and repaired appliances, so our family has been in the appliance business for 100 years.) One of the most important things you can do for longevity of your fridge is to pull it out from the wall and clean your coils. There are lots of videos on RUclips on how to clean them. It will improve the efficiency of your fridge as well.

I don't eat quinoa anymore but when I did, make sure you rinse it thoroughly before you cook it. Otherwise, you will get a bitter taste 🤢 it's not pleasant. I did love using chicken broth in replacement of water and it taste great with lots of veggies as a side or grilled chicken with romaine lettuce, quinoa, and a homemade vinaigrette dressing...so good!

Binge watching....love it! Your husband is so sweet. His Mama raised him right. All appliances aren’t made as they used to be. Our new washer only made it one year and it’s only the two of us now. 😳. Another weight watcher treat. Small jello, 1/4 cup boiling water. Dissolve. Add two low fat yogurt and a tub of light cool whip. It makes a great fluff dessert. Low points.

I am LOVING your Declutter Series!!! I just re-did my pantry. I invested in OXO Pop Top Canisters for a lot of my things and matching bins for the rest. It made me realize what was going bad and not getting eaten. Now, right when i come home from grocery shopping, i quickly wipe down and vacuum out the pantry and it has stayed nice for a couple months!

I like vegetable and fruit puree pouches from the baby section as a healthy to-go snack for my son. I hate all of the extra packaging, but some days I just need an easy solution. I hope one day the companies will find a better material, but for now at least my son eats extra veg!
Other than that, we also have goldfish and peanut butter cracker sandwich things. I don't buy the single serving packs, I just keep a couple of little bowls in his small cupboard so he can pour them for himself. I love your snack drawer idea. 🙂

I’ve been on a very long mission to an organized pantry. Clear containers for everything you use regularly. This allows for quick inventory of what you have. I.E. large coffee container gives illusion you have plenty of coffee when it might be 80 percent empty. Lastly, my husband invested in the can storage sold on Amazon.......absolute best thing we’ve ever done!! Can organization and clear containers!!

I know it's two months later, but for the future! I learned that we don't actually like the texture of quinoa, so putting it in a soup, stew, or casserole, really helps change that gritty texture, and makes it a super easy additional healthy item and you can use a lot at once. You should do do recipe videos in the future as well 😊

I like to serve quinoa with fajita veggies, chicken, and black beans. Make the quinoa per the instructions on the back, but use chicken broth instead of water. If you use bullion for your broth, double the amount of bullion to liquid ratio to get a lot of flavor in there.

    Quinoa pilaf
1T. Veg oil, 1/2 c chopped onion, 2 carrots chopped, 1c. Quinoa, 2cups veg broth (I use chicken most of the time because I have that in stock more so then veg broth). 2/3 cup chopped walnuts, 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley ( or I use maybe a teaspoon of dried)
Directions: heat oil in saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook onion in oil for 5 minutes, add carrots and cook for three minutes more. Stir in quinoa and broth, bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer, cover and cook 15 to 20 minutes or until quinoa is tender and fluffy. Toss in the walnuts and parsley and serve.

I cook Quinoa every week as it's my staple food! I soak it for 4 hours in cold water prior to cooking, drain it in a sieve, and wash until the foam goes away. Then I stick it in the instant pot with 650ml of veg stock per 300g on quinoa for 1 minute on pressure cook. Super easy. I just add it to my beans and veg or lentils (I'm vegan). I also love garlic quinoa too, just sprinkle some granules into the stock. I add my veggies after because they take longer to cook than the quinoa.

The fridge didn’t come with any warranty? In my country for a fridge it would normally be for like 5 years. I would check cause that’s rubbish that it’s already breaking! Love that you guys clean as a couple!

    • @LeafLikeOnATree
      @LeafLikeOnATree  3 года назад

Oh man, don't get me started 😂. We actually did contact them a year ago because we bought an extended warranty and everything. It ended up being crap. It didn't cover the plastic parts or drawers and they wanted to charge half the price of the fridge to have someone come out and replace the broken parts. It's a racket, I tell ya. The warranty was only for the mechanical parts. I have been so disappointed in my experience with this purchase.

They still aren't cheap on Amazon, but I want to say they are at least 30% cheaper on there. I have more to replace, but I don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars on more plastic that will likely break. I would rather save it for a new fridge down the road. I needed my door bins, though because condiments were all over the place in the fridge. Looking forward for those to come in.

Quinoa: Soak it first, rinse clean. Cook according to directions, use chicken broth in place of water, add extra broth and butter! Serve in bowl, quinoa on bottom, then fresh shredded cheese (from block, not bag) then broccoli, then shredded cheese, then chicken, then shredded cheese, then sour cream the salt and chives. And more cheese if you don't have enough 😉😂
For your fridge: Contact the company that made it. Since it isn't just 1 thing that broke but multiple, they sold you defective product and they should replace what broke.
Additionally, don't just go to Amazon to look for the part. Check Ebay and even Google the model number. I did that for my stove when someone, who shall remain nameless (me), accidentally melted a Tupperware lid and couldn't get it peeled off so had to replace bottom panel.
    Good luck!

I don’t have the proper recipe accessible right now but my favorite recipe uses various raw veggies, cooked quinoa, and a homemade dressing that could easily be substituted with Italian dressing. I don’t think strict measurements are needed. You MUST let it sit overnight before it tastes good. The quinoa absorbs the flavor and is really good.

You can precook the quinoa, precut a vegetable mix and make bowls with it. Easy quick and healthy lunches. Even vegan is possible :) maybe include kidney beans, tomatoes, corn, zucchini, broccoli, cale, cucumber ... or a more exotic version with mango and pomegranate seeds or goji berries, edamame (soy beans) are a good choice, roasted onions, and if you like chicken breast but that makes it less healthy

Hi quinoa is my favorite, all you do is boil it , two cups of water boil add one cup of quinoa , you could add to salads or supplement like rice . Also is great antioxidant for diet .

Swap the rice for quinoa, paired with a stir fry, or teriyaki chicken bowl.

Yeah quinoa... I ended up feeding my quinoa to my chickens because we didn’t eat it. Chickens are great, they eat our foodscraps so no waste 😄

I loved the "quinoa" comment from Steve!! 🤔😳🤔😅😅😅😬😬
I don't eat rice or pasta, being dm2 gf here, so a good protein l/c substitute is quinoa!! My ex bf , who was good cook, made dm2 friendly version of rice n beans, which I'd never had, using quinoa!! 🙌👏🙌
Can be used as a side with any meal.
