Hello Cindy. Another gorgeous day here. It's clear and 46 degrees. The Lord is starting off magnificently. Obviously I am subscribed and if I could, I would subscribe twice. I love the way you explain and teach but, as I have said, your stories are important to me. You have certainly lived an interesting life. As much as I like this lesson on power chords, I would greatly appreciate a lesson on how you play the rhythm on the introduction of the video. I think I need to learn that rhythm from you. I'm talking the fingerpicking not the strumming. OK, enough talking> I hope you have a good rest of your day. Cheers and God bless.
That is awesome! They only live a couple of weeks but they sure help clean up the pesty bugs. And light up the night at the same time😀. Thanks for listening❤️
Yeah you’re not the only one with subscription button phobics. That happens to much larger channels regularly. Nobody seems to understand why people keep rewatching videos and returning yet won’t hit the subscribe button. Someone needs to do a large scale RUclips study that focuses on that particular demographic. Point is, it’s not just you - seems to happen to every single channel. Just keep putting out good content that keeps people watching and engaged. The longer people watch (hopefully until the video ends), the more RUclips will recommend your videos. That’s what experienced RUclipsrs say anyway. 😂🤷🏼♀️ I really think power chords were very helpful to me as I was trying to advance as a beginner. I was able to play all of my power chords before I could play all of my open chords for the precise reason you stated- same shape for all chords. It helped me play so many other types of songs while I was figuring out how to switch between those open chords and get all the strings to ring out. I don’s think enough professional acoustic players use power chords. I always wonder what that’s about. I always see them use open “cowboy” chords and barre chords, and far fewer use power chords and fancy/jazz chords. I agree that they are great for beginners and pro rhythm players alike. Btw, I knew the start of that Beatles song before you said it. We could all take a lesson (or many) from the Fab Four!
This possible people watch RUclips and don’t have a sign in.. or forgot the password 🤣. If that’s true they can’t subscribe. Your right just keep working on it ❤️
Great lesson. I love your method. You teach me how to teach guitar! I can do these things, but how to clearly and sequentially explaining it is a method that you have developed over years of teaching experience. Bravo 👏
I grew up in the corn belt and we caught very many fire flys there was thousands of them and I am subscribed and watch your videos I learned a lot from them
Ive been playing for years and forgotten to use 3 fingers for a power chord...and i never knew it was written as a 5 because your playing the route and the 5th.....you are a truly excellent teacher ...im trying to improve my theory and playing and finding your lessons invaluable thank you...England/Scottish border so we have the dreaded midges 😂
Great lesson! Related topic, though maybe more in the jazz realm, are shell voicings. These mini chords contain only the root, 3rd and 7th of the chord. Really useful. Thanks!
I've been playing a classical guitar for the last five months. While I really do like it, that 52mm nut is killer on my hand which is small with short fingers. I had a chance the other day to try one of the Yamaha NTX1 crossover guitars. Much more comfortable to handle. I'm seriously thinking of ordering one but wonder if I'll regret getting a guitar with an electric pickup when I know I won't use that. Should I go for it, in your opinion? (I won't hold it against you if it turns out to be a mistake. 😊) I'm from the Midwest and yes, I remember catching what we called lightning bugs. I don't think there are many left though.
I always buy with a pickup. And sometimes I don’t use it depending on the guitar. The reason is it increases resale value. If you go to sell your guitar there will be more interested buyer because of the pickup. At least that’s my thinking. When buying a guitar , comfort is very important. Sounds like you found a good one😀
@@guitarnotions -- Thanks a lot for your opinion. My classical is an introductory Yamaha and I think it's a pretty good guitar. Yamaha seems to have a good reputation and the NTX1 is the only one that I've had an opportunity to try even though it was for only a few minutes -- too much noise in the store to really tell much. I think I'll go back to the store and spend a little more time with the guitar. I'm sure they'll be able to order the color I want if I decide to get it. Thanks again. 🙂 I have subscribed and hope you get lots more.
Thanks Cindy- agree the power chords definitely do have a more drive to them ! Visited the Martin Factory and museum today. Is right in my hometown. Have you been there?
Ah yes instant recognition on that ditty c to d intro... thats a fun one to play, I like to boogie woogie on that D when it starts with the open a to the 2nd fret sounds cool. I think I learned that from a clapton tune where you drop that normal 5 to 6 boogie an octave down... normal would be for instance in that pretty big blues standard hideaway by freddie king hey again the power chord but just adding that 6 and rocking back and forth on 5 and six... I am not remembering which clapton song that was oh it was something to do with a sally
I find your videos so educational and, at the same time, soothing. Thanks!
Glad you like them! Thank you❤️

Love shell chords as to me they are easier than playing full 7th chords and don’t lose the idea of the chord.👍👍👍

Nice. Thanks for sharing and always appreciate your posts - thanks❤️
Another great lesson, I envy your span, my hands are much smaller than yours and have to use my ring and pinky to make the same shape.
You might consider a short scale guitar. It helps when you have small hands. 😀. Thank you ❤️
I wondered if you have trouble with carbon dust falling inside your guitar with the sticky pick
Never seen any dust. They wear slowly so I don’t think it’s an issue. Thanks😀
Thank you enjoy your trip and be safe
