I would love to see inside that gearbox to see if it's a geartrain or one or so planetary gearsets, I'm just outside New Glasgow Nova Scotia.
I can't afford one, but I would love to build something similar.
Any chance you could do a this is how it works partial disassembly video?

Ya not into pulling it apart yet ,but if things change I'll for sure msg you. I'll be putting it in good use this season with the amount of falling dead one the property so will have new video to follow.

After you have had time with it how do you like it? I have been looking at the same setup….

I find it most helpful in the woods where I can't get the tractor in , it can pull vary well it's just not fast as a PTO driven winch.

@@downloadjunkyadventures nice part is the pulling ability doesn’t vary like regular winches…. Plus, I don’t have a tractor. 😁

Not a one handed job. If you don’t hand over hand with enough constant tension to eliminate slip, friction/heat will destroy the rope enough to make it unsafe to use. I’ve even seen a capstan that got hot enough to distort.
    Tripod for the camera. 🤜🤛

Agreed , tripod is what I should have used to film this , no worries as it was a short demonstration I've been using it in the woods and yes I use both hands on the rope until I get a tripod I'll update the equipment when I do. Thanks for the input.

Your correct I'm using only one hand other is filming. I'll be posting new content in spring where I have camera on tripod and you can see it better in action.
