  • "Danger" is a song by American new wave band The Motels, which was released in 1980 as the second single from their second studio album Careful. The song was written by Martha Davis and Tim McGovern, and produced by Carter. "Danger" saw limited commercial success in the US (where it was the album's first single), but generated more chart action in Australasia, peaking at number 88 in Australia and 30 in New Zealand.
Davis originally wrote "Danger" for The Pointer Sisters. She told JAM Magazine in 1980, "My lawyer called me up and said they needed tunes, and I just came up with this little melody and went and sang it in somebody's living room. They loved it, but they already had gotten all of their material so they couldn't use it. I wasn't even going to use it for the Motels." The song went on to be recorded by The Motels after the band's guitarist Tim McGovern worked on the track. Davis recalled in 2000, "Tim got a hold of [the track], making it a little less R&B and a lot more Motel-a-Phonic.
On its release, Cash Box described "Danger" as a "superb track" from a "top notch and highly underrated band". They noted the "muscular groove", "some choppy, hard-edged guitar work" and Davis' "sexy tones". Record World praised Davis' "alluring vocals" and added that the song features "a pulsating guitar [which] underscores her nocturnal fears."
Careful is the second studio album by new wave band the Motels. It was recorded between March and May 1980, and released in June 1980. The album was produced by John Carter who had produced the group's 1979 debut.
"Danger" was released as the disc's lead single and landed in the Top 20 in France. "Days Are O.K." and "Whose Problem?" became Top 50 songs (and their only chart hits) in the United Kingdom. None of the singles released from the album charted in the United States, but the disc reached #45 on the Billboard album chart in the summer of 1980. It eventually sold nearly 400,000 copies in America.
With the departure of Jeff Jourard as lead guitarist, Tim McGovern (from the group The Pop) was added as lead guitarist for the group. Recording for the second album began on the 4th of February 1980 and would be completed by May 1980.
"Danger" was the second Motels single that was accompanied by a music video (following 1979's "Total Control").
The Motels are an American new wave band from Berkeley, California, that is best known for the singles "Only the Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer", each of which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, in 1982 and 1983, respectively. In 1980, The Motels song "Total Control" reached No. 7 on the Australian chart (for two weeks), and their song "Danger" reached No. 15 on the French chart.

Always felt Capitol should have re-issued this great song after they finally hit it big. I never knew there was an extended version. Is this newly discovered?

I personnaly think it shouldn’t be speed up that much, but you are a master when it s about arrangements and building climax, so I shut it up 😊
