I believe Angelina will end up as a contralto with full command of her higher registers by the time she’s 27. Interestingly only Whitney’s studio version was in G, her live performances were always in E. You can see with this video that Republic Records is obviously polishing Angelina’s stage presence.

I agree that Angelina has grown and still will be growing at an incredible speed for another decade. But I do not need to wait: she is amazing already and up in the very top in my opinion. Her covers are amazing, her concerts a delight to listen to :-) I assume we mostly agree and just phrase it a little different. So I feel this is an incredibly beautiful performance. Comparing the two is like comparing which gem shines the brightest and some like diamonds and others prefer rubies. I do not think there is an objective measure to determine which one is 'better'. I enjoy both a lot and their voices are just very different. I don't know why but Angelina's voice touches me more emotionally. But that is just how I experience it.
I was a Whitney fan from the beginning of her career to her tragic end. Whitney was great, but Angelina at 16 is far better than Whitney ever was at making you feel each word, and phrase. AJ changes every cover to make if hers and far, far better than the original. AJ is the great STORYTELLING ARTEST I have ever experienced in my 75 years.
I can’t agree with you that her voice was ‘identical’ to the outdoor version. It was close but if you listen carefully you’ll hear the evidence of 2 straight takes and extreme tiredness (incl 9 hour jet lag). But this one is a game changer. As for pitch, Whitney sung this live in a lower key many times.

I like the way she stands at the Mic. I mean she is 6'1" tall and she embraces that. Many girls her age slump over to not 'stick out' this girl not only stands up straight but when she's not singing she wears boots. I read somewhere that she designed that beautiful dress she's wearing. I know this has nothing to do with her singing, but every aspect of her life informs her singing in my mind. One reactor that I used to watch, but when she said Daneliya was too whiney and her control wasn't very good. She also said Angelina wasn't animated enough. Well, whoever wants to wait may wait, I don't need to, Angelina already sounds way better than any other performer of this song, including Whitney herself. I was born in 67 and got to know Houston's song when it came out and dominated the charts here in Germany, but I'd only listen to it occasionally loke when it was on the radio or played at a party, and surely Whitney sings it well, but Angelina, with her jazzy feeling, beautiful lower register and amazing timing and phrasing makes it so much more enjoyable to listen to her...
Comparing to Whitney? Impossible, imho. Both, Whitney and Angelina did a masterful interpretation of this song written by David Foster and Linda Thompson. And while Whitney's musical background is R&B, Soul and Pop, Angelina's background is Jazz with Soul added. One was 29, the other is 16. Whitney was strong soprano, Angelina is strong alto voice. Therefore different keys, quite normal. And yes, Angelina related to Whitney's performance, the Diva mode and so on. Showed her respect. That doesn't mean, that she intended to do it the same way, which anyway would be impossible because of the different voices and the different emotional background. Few days later Angelina dedicated this song to her Grandma, who is sick, and who she has a very strong relation to. ( "... don't you DARE walk away from me...") She changed the key to this song, but does it really matter as long as she has the ability to give each word, or phrase, meaning like no one else in this universe can. How can she evoke such emotion in each and every performance? Why do I get chills, or cry tears, or lose my breath when Angelina sing a song that I have experienced many times in the past without this happening? Don't care what others think, i prefer this to Whitney's original. Angelina has a deeper less shill tone than Whitney. Whitney makes my ears hurt after a short time but I can listen to Angelina all day without ever feeling I've had enough.
This performance is beyond belief, the cinemaphotography, the ART, and this time we get to savor over 4 minutes of total bliss, no one is capable of doing this song justice like Angelina Jordan. David Foster and Linda Thompson, who co-wrote this ballad for Whitney Houston would be blown away by this performance.
Of course as far as this song goes, Whitney is the standard bearer. Countless numbers of singers have covered this song and many of them are quite good. Along comes a supremely gifted young musical genius and phenom whom put forth this type of stunning and jaw dropping performance that is a game changer. IMO, Angelina’s arrangement and vocal performance are at elite master class levels. Let’s be honest here and admit that even a exceptionally gifted and talented as Whitney was her live performances of this song were not the equal of her studio performance.

All singers have their own individuality and specialty. Jordan's strength is that he has a husky voice.But I can't figure out why I didn't sing jazz and chose this song that doesn't suit me.

As we got her amazing extensively performance of 18 songs. 18 quite different songs over several genres. Inkuding this WH song, also two originals, songs from Elvis, Elton John, Queen, Frank Sinatra AND Nancy Sinatra (/Cher), Amy Winehouse, Bilie Holiday and other creat jazz/jazzy classics. And still she started out blowing our minds away by covering a song from about 3 years ago, called "Mount Everest". I am rather convinced that not many was familiar with that song before Angelina steped on to the stages in Norway this summer and performed it twice. Angelina`s version will likely be the main thing for most of us, as it comes to that song. I`m sure. 🤗 There are many great and extraoridnary things to say about Whitney Houston, and we should. She was great. Whitney will forever be Whitney. I asume she did wonderful strong conserts. I have no doubt. But did she ever perform something like the one Angelina managed to give us this month? This Year? At 16 and a half (exactely ☺)? So much soul and creativity from Angelina. Such a varied and wide-ranging specter of songs and genres. I don't think we have to wait that long, dude, IMHO she already surpasses one of her muses, Adele. Everyone who has been to her concerts in Norway says that she sounds wonderful live, you already heard her 'I have nothing' in Kongsberg. Listening to it in a jazz club environment has to be amazing, something that unfortunately I don't think will happen, Republic already has her in the launch base.

In terms of achievements (sales, awards etc.) we can only compare 2 artists after they have released the same numbers of studio albums and on a similar music career. I have heard Adele as a young vocalist with videos available on YT dating back to 2007 (Adele age 19) and we can fairly say vocally AJ at 16 is stronger than Adele was at age 19. At least this is my personal opinion and of course I might be bias towards AJ 😉

People have the need to compare things. " Angelina sounds like Winehouse, " or " She sings like a jazz artist. " They contrast her qualities with Houston. Here's the deal...Jordan has a unique voice and she interprets music and lyrics in her own way. All artists are influenced by their predecessors. But there comes a point when comparisons pale. Angelina is Angelina. A singer who can reach inside and MOVE you.
Angelina been singing and taking music lessons since she was about 6 years old and in an interview when she was 11 she said she's practicing about 4 to 5 hours every day: 365*4*10 = 14 600. If she's not reached her 10k yet she's pretty darn close already - at 16 years old. Imagine what she'll sound like when she's done 20k

I just went back and listened to the original Whitney Huston version and I must say that in my opinion, side by side, Ms. Jordan's is the better of the two. Further, what most people are ignoring is that Whitney's studio for the movie was probably recorded over a period of days, if not weeks (or even months). Angelina did hers in one take!!! As great as Whitney was, this jury of one gives the nod to The Barefoot Queen.

Whitney and to many Artists take the song and make it fit their voice. Angelina adapts her voice to fit the song and focuses on Emotion. Comparisons are a natural thing, but usually nothing beneficial comes from it. But I'll compare them anyway. Whitney is a soprano, and her voice is sharper and brighter, and she may be the best belter I have ever heard. Angelina is a meso soprano/alto/contralto (I must not know what I'm talking about), and her voice is darker, warmer, and huskier. One is not better than the other; they are just different. When Whitney sings, she tends to be on the note/beat, as is the case with most pop singers. Angelina is often behind the note/beat, as jazz singers often are. And she is comfortable with negative space, again as jazz singers often are. By lowering the key a few steps (3 minor steps I think), Angelina can use her lower register (a real strength IMO) to accent her vocal fry and vibrato. When she is in that low register and putting that subtle vocal fry at the beginning of lines, and her vibrato at the end, I'm in Heaven. She is the best at doing that I have ever heard (IMO). So, I'm not looking at a belting contest, but at what are the things I like the most about each. They both get a 10 from me. I love your enthusiasm for Angelina. 😊😊

So I feel this is an incredibly beautiful performance. Comparing the two is like comparing which gem shines the brightest and some like diamonds and others prefer rubies. I do not think there is an objective measure to determine which one is 'better'. I enjoy both a lot and their voices are just very different. I don't know why but Angelina's voice touches me more emotionally. But that is just how I experience it.

AJ changes every cover to make if hers and far, far better than the original. AJ is the great STORYTELLING ARTEST I have ever experienced in my 75 years.
I can’t agree with you that her voice was ‘identical’ to the outdoor version. It was close but if you listen carefully you’ll hear the evidence of 2 straight takes and extreme tiredness (incl 9 hour jet lag). But this one is a game changer. As for pitch, Whitney sung this live in a lower key many times.

I think we are all witnessing a supernova right here on Earth. Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the singing greats and I am thankful to be able to witness her music.
I like the way she stands at the Mic. I mean she is 6'1" tall and she embraces that. Many girls her age slump over to not 'stick out' this girl not only stands up straight but when she's not singing she wears boots. I read somewhere that she designed that beautiful dress she's wearing. I know this has nothing to do with her singing, but every aspect of her life informs her singing in my mind.
One reactor that I used to watch, but when she said Daneliya was too whiney and her control wasn't very good. She also said Angelina wasn't animated enough. That she needed to move around more, to express herself to make the song more interesting. Well I'm just glad neither of the two girls listened to her, and after that neither do I.

Well, whoever wants to wait may wait, I don't need to, Angelina already sounds way better than any other performer of this song, including Whitney herself. I was born in 67 and got to know Houston's song when it came out and dominated the charts here in Germany, but I'd only listen to it occasionally loke when it was on the radio or played at a party, and surely Whitney sings it well, but Angelina, with her jazzy feeling, beautiful lower register and amazing timing and phrasing makes it so much more enjoyable to listen to her...

Comparing to Whitney? Impossible, imho. Both, Whitney and Angelina did a masterful interpretation of this song written by David Foster and Linda Thompson. And while Whitney's musical background is R&B, Soul and Pop, Angelina's background is Jazz with Soul added. One was 29, the other is 16. Whitney was strong soprano, Angelina is strong alto voice. Therefore different keys, quite normal. And yes, Angelina related to Whitney's performance, the Diva mode and so on. Showed her respect. That doesn't mean, that she intended to do it the same way, which anyway would be impossible because of the different voices and the different emotional background. Few days later Angelina dedicated this song to her Grandma, who is sick, and who she has a very strong relation to. ( "... don't you DARE walk away from me...") So I take both interpretations as pieces of art on their own. No competition. It is about music

This performance is beyond belief, the cinemaphotography, the ART, and this time we get to savor over 4 minutes of total bliss, no one is capable of doing this song justice like Angelina Jordan. David Foster and Linda Thompson, who co-wrote this ballad for Whitney Houston would be blown away by this performance.

Of course as far as this song goes, Whitney is the standard bearer. Countless numbers of singers have covered this song and many of them are quite good. Along comes a supremely gifted young musical genius and phenom whom put forth this type of stunning and jaw dropping performance that is a game changer. IMO, Angelina’s arrangement and vocal performance are at elite master class levels.
Let’s be honest here and admit that even a exceptionally gifted and talented as Whitney was her live performances of this song were not the equal of her studio performance.

I think that we don't need to compare Angelina Jordan with Withney Houston, or with anybody else, bacause she is producing music at the highest level of beauty and good taste and we don't need comparissons to enjoy it more or less. Angelina went through all the talent shows and all the critics and she has earned her own space. There are to many good singers in history and in the present to waste time with comparissons. Thank you for this. Angelina is truly special. Unique. I was among the lucky ones at the 10th of july this year. As we got her amazing extensively performance of 18 songs. 18 quite different songs over several genres. Inkuding this WH song, also two originals, songs from Elvis, Elton John, Queen, Frank Sinatra AND Nancy Sinatra (/Cher), Amy Winehouse, Bilie Holiday and other creat jazz/jazzy classics. And still she started out blowing our minds away by covering a song from about 3 years ago, called "Mount Everest". I am rather convinced that not many was familiar with that song before Angelina steped on to the stages in Norway this summer and performed it twice. Angelina`s version will likely be the main thing for most of us, as it comes to that song. I`m sure. 🤗
There are many great and extraoridnary things to say about Whitney Houston, and we should. She was great. Whitney will forever be Whitney. I asume she did wonderful strong conserts. I have no doubt. But did she ever perform something like the one Angelina managed to give us this month? This Year? At 16 and a half (exactely ☺)? So much soul and creativity from Angelina. One thing that hurts me is that for these brilliant young people like him, Dimash, and Diana A, it's much harder because there's no real composer who can compose songs for them that fit their voice, their style, their individuality, so they still do covers. Don't get me wrong, I love these too, because each of them is trying to shape these great songs in their own image, but it would be great to hear their own songs from them, they deserve it.

I don't think we have to wait that long, dude, IMHO she already surpasses one of her muses, Adele. Everyone who has been to her concerts in Norway says that she sounds wonderful live, you already heard her 'I have nothing' in Kongsberg. Listening to it in a jazz club environment has to be amazing, something that unfortunately I don't think will happen, Republic already has her in the launch base.

In terms of achievements (sales, awards etc.) we can only compare 2 artists after they have released the same numbers of studio albums and on a similar music career. I have heard Adele as a young vocalist with videos available on YT dating back to 2007 (Adele age 19) and we can fairly say vocally AJ at 16 is stronger than Adele was at age 19. At least this is my personal opinion and of course I might be bias towards AJ 😉

People have the need to compare things. " Angelina sounds like Winehouse, " or " She sings like a jazz artist. " They contrast her qualities with Houston. Here's the deal...Jordan has a unique voice and she interprets music and lyrics in her own way. All artists are influenced by their predecessors. But there comes a point when comparisons pale. Angelina is Angelina. A singer who can reach inside and MOVE you.
Angelina been singing and taking music lessons since she was about 6 years old and in an interview when she was 11 she said she's practicing about 4 to 5 hours every day: 365*4*10 = 14 600. If she's not reached her 10k yet she's pretty darn close already - at 16 years old. Imagine what she'll sound like when she's done 20k

I just went back and listened to the original Whitney Huston version and I must say that in my opinion, side by side, Ms. Jordan's is the better of the two. Further, what most people are ignoring is that Whitney's studio for the movie was probably recorded over a period of days, if not weeks (or even months). Angelina did hers in one take!!! As great as Whitney was, this jury of one gives the nod to The Barefoot Queen.
I've heard several recordings of Whitney singing this live. She isn't any better than Angelina. People know the studio recorded version of Whitney. Now, at 16, Angelina shows us what she can do on stage, and in a studio. 😎

Awesome reaction and yes Whitney sings it higher but their tones are different! Whitney sounds prettier, but A.J., is a lot more Emotional. I take Emotion over Pretty any day of the week. Whitney and to many Artists take the song and make it fit their voice. Angelina adapts her voice to fit the song and focuses on Emotion. To mw she at 16 is already on same level of a lot of the Greats including Whitney and she is only 16, God Bless!
Comparisons are a natural thing, but usually nothing beneficial comes from it. But I'll compare them anyway. Whitney is a soprano, and her voice is sharper and brighter, and she may be the best belter I have ever heard. Angelina is a meso soprano/alto/contralto (I must not know what I'm talking about), and her voice is darker, warmer, and huskier. One is not better than the other; they are just different. When Whitney sings, she tends to be on the note/beat, as is the case with most pop singers. Angelina is often behind the note/beat, as jazz singers often are. And she is comfortable with negative space, again as jazz singers often are. By lowering the key a few steps (3 minor steps I think), Angelina can use her lower register (a real strength IMO) to accent her vocal fry and vibrato. When she is in that low register and putting that subtle vocal fry at the beginning of lines, and her vibrato at the end, I'm in Heaven. She is the best at doing that I have ever heard (IMO). So, I'm not looking at a belting contest, but at what are the things I like the most about each. They both get a 10 from me. I love your enthusiasm for Angelina. 😊😊
