The communication thing they used is called Iris Message. Iris the goddess of rainbow and messenger for the gods.
The next two eps are both 40+ mins. Can't wait for you to see the last two eps. I'm sure it will be hyped.

The most intense scene so far in this series... slowly driving around a parking garage!

I'm dying too, but your video gave me a little life. Especially when you sing to the music! Hope you feel better soon. To be clear...I'm hella sick and not actually dying...

As a parent, it is aweful to watch your kid struggle and be powerless to stop it, but parenting is BEING THERE while they struggle, not running away to protect yourself from their pain.

Thanks for the reaction!! I hope you feel better soon 💫
I agree with you on episode length and streaming services in general, but thought that this episode was really efficient with the use of time. The Lotus casino chapter in the book is pretty short and they managed to add interesting and important information/set-up for later story to it quite naturally in the show. I particularly like the conversation between Hermes, Percy, and Annabeth. They have been highlighting the themes of family and parenting in the show which I love
Can't wait for next week's episode!!

Regarding run times, much of it has to do with child labor laws. When your three stars are children, it severely limits the number of hours you can shoot per day.

YES, this! So many people complain about the run time, but not all know about this. It impacts the shooting schedule and budget a lot. After they will become of age, things will be a bit easier :D

It seems to me that in the book, Riordan did not tell the readers (nor let his characters realize in advance) that the Lotus Hotel is a re-telling of the Land of the Lotus-eaters in The Odyssey. Or am I remembering wrong?

I think saying it hurts to be there because sometimes if you’re there you make it worse is actually a cop out. The key word is sometimes. It’s no excuse to be an absentee parent. Why can’t they just come visit occasionally without some ulterior motive? They’re not parents if the only times they pay attention to their kids is when they need those kids to do something for them. They’re just users who don’t deserve the title of parent!

I don't want to spoil it but Hermes did, indeed, make it worse, through no fault of his own. If we get the entire series it will be explained.

@@charlottemarks8881 I’ve read the series but I still think that’s a cop out because he’s trying to use a particular case to justify a pattern of behaviour in all the gods of just being absent.

There's a comment from Apollo in "The Trials of Apollo" - he said he started hearing about a possible revolution in France and decided to check on his son, Louis XIV, only to find he's been dead 70 years. If you follow the premise that the gods are having affairs that lead to countless children over thousands of years, being personally connected to each one would appear to be impossible, even for them. As for Poseidon, it's understandable that he couldn't get close to Percy because 1. It would attract Zeus's attention and 2. Attract monsters, as Percy realized who he was. That's what happened to Thalia, because her mother couldn't resist telling her who her father was.e@@Arezoo298195

Yeah, I get what Hermes was trying to say and I can see how the gods would use that excuse, but if that's the case, then like...stop having kids, man XD no one is forcing you to procreate!!

@@aprilshighfantasysoul5891 actually as said in the first episode, demigods can do stuff for gods that they themselves cannot, so they procreate to have pieces to move on the gameboard. Ugh I hate all the greek gods.😒
