Whatever happened to being able to pop the speaker cover off, crazy effort to replace a speaker. A tech guy told me that totally waste of time and money to just replace the speakers in the CR-V without replacing the head unit as well. New speakers would only slightly improve the sound distortion but not really improve the sound much without a new amplifier and head unit. Just not worth it.

Yea well let me tell you, i replaced my head unit with a pretty decent one for $300, it has android auto and everything, and guess what? didn't change much, so now i'm looking to replacing the speakers watching these videos how to remove the damn door panels. Car audio shops generally swap everything at same time, head unit, speakers, and put in amplifier, this costs a lot of money, so if you got an old CRV like this one, doing it yourself is the only real solution.

Now I realize why I have been rocking the stock Honda speakers for 14 years now!

Exactly this... I've had my CRV for 10years and every time I think I want new speakers I remember how hard it is to get to them.
That's before needing to adapt the enclosures to fit new ones too...

Or maybe Honda could have just designed clip in speaker grills that pop out? Otherwise great car but this is an outrageous amount of effort...

How will aftermarket speakers fit? Any mods needed?

  • @azmike007

Good step-by-step instructions. My only critique would be to "speak a bit slower" (add :30 to it) and show a close-up of where the tool meets the screw (lighting would help). Otherwise, nice job!

So you have to cut the oem wiring to add aftermarket speakers? 😤

Excellent, short yet very concise video of how to remove the door. More "Help" videos should follow this format. It was done professionally.
