- After around 1500 miles or so of driving, I got tired of the 009 lag, and decided to install a vac advance distributor back into the car. This is a electronic ignition unit so it gives the car a whole new feel!
I don't really have much else planned for the 74 Super at this point. With that said, I think she may be done! I've been driving it quite a bit these past 7 months, even with the bad weather over the winter. It's certainly a rare sight on these modern roads, but it does pretty well in 2023 all things considered. - Авто/Мото
I love the Pertronix stuff. Used them on Datsun Z-Cars for years
This has really been helpful on getting it to run right.
Now that’s a term I have not heard since Senior Year Powersports and Diesel Technology Lab at Vocational School…. Probably 100 years ago now… “Stoichiometric Mixture”. Thanks for that knowledge refresher! Great video
Also, pro tip about that washer….. lol personal experience….
Thank you- People need to remember how to work on the older models- That knowledge can really be helpful
Points for me on my '64 40hp. Big cap dizzy has no flat spot. Stock is rock!!
I agree that stock is where it is at
I had a 74 Bug. My first used car I bought on my own. I think I paid only $500 and it had a fairly new paint job.
Oh I certainly remember those days! I had at least 3 that I can remember over the years that cost $50 and ran. Another Baja that was $200 and had new off road tires. Those were the days!
That was fun watching you Erik. Thank you. 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love those old VW's!
Me too!
Cool another VW that I love
you bet
Great Job !! What carb are you running ?
Just a stock 34pict it's a daily driver so nothing fancy. I just wanted reliable.
👍👍👍👍
thanks
Maybe do an internet search for gas stations in your area that sell ethanol- free gasoline. They're cropping up all over as the popularity of it increases.
It sure would help to have 100% gas in this. The poor 48HP engine has a hard enough time with hills, then you add in garbage corn gas to the mix and it's more like 41HP.
