Sorry to hear that this wasn't very helpful. It is difficult to say without being able to see the issue. There could be a number of issues that could cause this problem. Under normal circumstances, this process should work. Perhaps you should take it to a local tech shop and have them take a look.

Hi Mike, yes you can but it would depend on how you have Outlook set up. If you are running Outlook on your computer then you have to leave your computer running because that is where your application is being hosted.
If you are running Outlook on a server and accessing it from your computer then you can set your out of office reply from the server and it will respond even when your computer is off. This is the same with a service like Office 365 as well. Hope that is helpful!
