I live in New Jersey and surprisingly we have black bears in this area. I haven’t seen one but they are out there. I have walked near Macclesfield before maybe in the forest, we rented a house near Wincle once. I used to go with my grandad to the Stanley arms sometimes and my wife likes the Peak Cafe near the Cat and Fiddle for a bit of cake and tea. Nice video and I like the Chatsworth one too.
Just did this walk in April - been looking forward to it for about 5 years as I was in the area just before Covid struck. Really enjoyed the walk though it was very windy.
🐻🎶 If you go down in the woods today,.be sure to Ware a disguise.. 🎶😁😂 Another Sunday morning video that put a smile on my face Mary. 😁 Love Macc forest,.. But think I will wait until storm uncle dudley and aunt eunice has passed 😁 Enjoy the rest of today Mary and Derek.. 🐻
Beautiful new adventure Mary, thank you so much for taking us with you, always good to start the day with your smile in a video intro and that at half past 8 in the morning ;) Beautiful trail, would love to shoot a hiking video there one day, even if the weather conditions are almost like here in Germany at the moment, windy, grey and cold. Thank you for inspiring. Have a wonderful Sunday, Mario
Hi Mary, great video again, thank you. I am getting back into walking this year and the Peak District is the first area on my list. Your smile and enthusiasm is infectious 😊
I heard of storm Dudley, quite the record breaker, glad you made it out on time. You’re quite courageous heading out with this kind of prediction, I’d be holed up for the duration. You really got me with the black bear, 10 points for you. I laughed uncontrollably. Always beautiful scenery and excellent video, and the special touches (heart, tree tops seen from below, slow motion of your movements, etc) never boring. Thank you always for the laugh, the wonder and the awesomeness. 🙏🏻🥰👏🏻
Thanks Anita, I knew I had a window before it fully got here after midday. So glad this one got you laughing 😂 and that you enjoyed all the little things too ☺️
Sorry that was a while ago - but on Friday morning I did hike around Harrys Hut and Lantern Pike and parked in that lay-by where I think I saw you too early afternoon. It was a gorgeous day wasn't it - bit too warm for a thermal baselayer and fleece😁
Hey Mary, loved the video. I don't know how you got your camera to be so steady up on top of the summit with all that wind, and the bear sighting had me going. I thought you really had a bear! Too funny. I fallowed you on your PCT through hike and look forward to watching all your new videos. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Mary, I would like to tell you, that if you should ever go to Dove Stones Reservoir. Take a hike from the car park and go round in a clock wise direction, Keep to the foot path on your way round, and soon you will come to a wooded area which is on your left, and as you come to the end look out for a fallen tree about 5 to 7 foot steps from the foot path. There you will see this tree trunk which has coins hammered into it, the coins are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, pence peace, and foreign coins from holidays. This collection of coins were started by me two years ago, in the hope that other people would follow suit, I did leave a hammer on a chain but last year when I went, it was no longer there , Someone had decided to pinch it. So Mary if you should go this way don't forget to leave a coin. Thanks, See you soon Mary. PS If you should find it, please add it to your video
Why are there padlocks on the cement marker? Oh yeah, the wind was coming up for sure. Nice touch with the bear. You should be an actress! John from MI
The inlaid brass mounting plate and three tie downs are to hold a standard Ordnance Survey theodolite. People put lovers' padlocks on the bolts like they do on bridges.
Thanks so much Tim, new one out this morning! It's been a combination of a few things but mainly being very busy - should be back on track again now though.
You actually had me going there for a second on the bear sighting. But then I was, like, "Wait -- this is England. There ain't no bears in there." We heard about that storm even over here. Hope everyone is OK.
You got us with the black bear. Fun. Thank you.

I certainly will Don A - thanks for the info!
Did you feel like continuing your walk after having that meal mid hike Mary, I think there might be 2 bloomer videos coming up at the end of the year.
I was quite re-energised actually! It certainly helped warm me up a bit for the descent.
Why are there padlocks on the cement marker? Oh yeah, the wind was coming up for sure. Nice touch with the bear. You should be an actress! John from MI

Thanks so much John - and for Steven to answer that one for me 😁

Thanks so much Tim, new one out this morning! It's been a combination of a few things but mainly being very busy - should be back on track again now though.
It is the Gummy Bears that will get you.

Stop pinching Derecs sweets he'll have your guts for garters 😆 great vid, I though you were going mad for a minute 😆
🤣🤣🤣
You actually had me going there for a second on the bear sighting. But then I was, like, "Wait -- this is England. There ain't no bears in there." We heard about that storm even over here. Hope everyone is OK.
That may have been Bigfoot, which is often mistaken for bears.
Really enjoyed this video Mary. I’m going to try the food pack as it did look really tasty. Also love your blue legging. Are they wind proof?
Leggings are fab for hiking.
Thanks Pauline! Not really, although they do have a brushed inner fabric and they are thick so keep me a little warmer than normal ones.
