Did you guys tried it!? Would be cool to try it with different samples!
I bought Morph 2 on sale a while back. I may have to dive back into it now.
Have you ever played around with the “Argent Compressor”? It’s basically an OTT/Upward Compressor hybrid that really DOOM’s up anything you throw in it.
@@ShitStaindGod Hey! no I did not. I was using OTT most of the time. But I'll try it for sure. I feel like you can have the same result without it. But it's a cool plugin to save some time. 👌🏻
I love that Mick is so open about how he creates his sounds.
Because he knows that nobody will be able to copy it lol
3:03 "...recreate that sound as faithfully as possible"
well, you missed the step where he said that the sample of chainsaw he took was the chainsaw from the original DOOM game, and not just a random chainsaw sample. that said, the sample you used with EQing did lend a close enough sound to the original. good rendition.
oh thanks
Excellent use of the chainsaw, and good video overall.
thank you :)
It's feels like someone trying to cook a very complicated fancy and traditionnal dish for you with cost co ingredients. Well made bro.
🤣🤣🤣
The "secret"?
Mick recorded a fucking chainsaw.
He recorded a CHAINSAW. There's no secret.
It's that simple?! Damn. Should've been a tutorial on how to buy a chainsaw at the store then.
pretty sure its more than just that song! i think its most if not all of the ones in doom 2016, since bethesda said "no guitars" he used a loophole
Yeah 100%... I think it's the song where you hear it the most though. I think we also hear it pretty clearly in BFG Division at the end of each bar when the drum stops.
Loved this!! Straight to the point and very well done. Great job finding Gordon’s talk and sharing that with us as well. :)
I’m gonna try this!!
hahah thanks man!! 🤘
It's no cranked HM-2 but it's nice.
Haha yeah that classic swedish tone! It's a whole different thing though!
Neat idea, I'm gonna have a whirl at this with my AxeFx. It has a synth that can track the guitar pitch quite well and I bet I can get something that gets me into the chainsaw zone like this.
yeah 100% if you can upload a sample into the AxeFx, it could sound almost the same!
Great video man, amazing demonstration
thanks man 🤘
Great video! 😁 just subbed, keep up the great work
Thanks man 🤘
Super well made video!
remember me as that one person who always believed in you, that commented on your video that one time!
gtg now to purchase a chainsaw!
Hahaha thanks man 🤘🏻 a chainsaw with a Jack 1/4? 😂
That was very nice, thank you
thanks to you for watching :) 🤘🏻
I thought you were a much larger channel, you just got a new subscriber : )
Haha! I wish! Slowly but surely haha thanks for supporting 🤘🏻
Thanx man !!!! 🤘 stay metal
thanks man 😊🤘🏻
@@Tonepusher Now I'll try to apply 😇😁
Well done!
thanks :) 🤘
This is awesome
thanks :)🤘🏻
Exelent job, man.
Thanks 🤘🏻
very high quality video! you deserve way more subs
hey! thanks a lot :) working on it haha the algorithm gets in the way 🤣
Awesome 🔥🖤🔥
hell yeah 🤘🏻
bravo! hugs from Brazil
thanks man! :)
Good Job !!
thanks man 🤘🏻
You almost got it but he did specify that he used the sample from the chainsaw sound effect from the original 1993 doom. (so it was a mix of the idle and the 'fire' sound of the chainsaw) So you probably would've got better results with that since It's a stock sound effect.
Yeah I learned about it after recording! I'll try it with the right sample 🤔
Definitely
cool bro
well dude,love it.
thanks man :) 🤘
Really good video, thanks for this
hey thanks 🤘🏻
Nice!
thanks 🤘
I blended Saw with guitar with Morph plugin for my Meathook cover ^^
nice! is it on spotify?
@@Tonepusher it is 😊 saheli - meathook
Mick Gordon uses a ton of distortion and fuzz pedals. He did a walk thru of his tone.
The focus of this video was more about the Morph plugin and the blending technique than the ''guitar tone''. I know, his process and techniques are MUCH more complicated than that hehe 🤘
Do you have any link for his walkthrough?
@@oscarcastellon7398 Here's the most detailed video I could find.
ruclips.net/video/U4FNBMZsqrY/видео.html
I don't think there's a video where he's doing a complete walkthrough of his tone though.
low notes of the guitar are an octave down + He used the original doom chainsaw sample. aside from that its pretty clean man!
thanks man :)
very yes
much wow!
Insane.
hell yeah 🤘
that is so fucking cool
haha thanks!! 🤘
@@Tonepusher As Oceans Devour
Sounds like if you fiddled with it a bit more, you could get it closer, but it's a cool sound nonetheless. I actually forgot one of the other more important things he said during his presentation and that was that he used the chainsaw sounds from the original Doom 1 and 2 games as the chainsaw, so he didn't even use a particularly good-sounding chainsaw sound for the official track. I'm curious to see what results you could come up with using that particular sound.
Thanks! Yes you're right I think he used the old game sound. But seeing how he works he probably processed the shit out of that sound before even sending it through Morph! So I figured I would use a modern chainsaw sound hehe ....next in line, the lawnmower haha
@@Tonepusher Oh yeah, he used a lawnmower too didn't he? lol I'm incredibly envious at his knowledge and ability to work with sound design. I'm very much cave man brained when it comes to dialing in tone, so I aim for the less is more approach, but it's impossible to get the sound you got in this video and the sound he just gets in general with a more simple approach.
@@moonbyul873 Yeah, I think after 20 years of producing music, sound design and experimenting. I came to the conclusion that less is more like you said. There IS some people that will put 32 plugins and end up with insane tones and sounds, but it's not for everybody. Mick is certainly alone in his world. Sometimes it sounds even better to come back to the root...simple stuff. I mean most of the time, artists that creates iconic sounds are the ones that had the less gear!
What drums were used in the argent metal pack demo? I love that snare. (you in the discord group?) Also, I never could get morph to work. That's why I just use fuzz.
Drums are samples from Splice that I processed quite heavily. I might make some sample pack with it pretty soon hehe
Mom I want DOOM music. Mom: we have DOOM music at home. lol
lollll on the shelf in the garage
gonna stick this in a pedal and make a mint
nice vid
haha the chainsaw pedal, that's a good idea!
@@Tonepusher thanks! I had an idea to make a boss HM2 but there's no knobs, everything is at 10 and there's nothing controls but the footswitch. I built one but it can get kinda whistle-y at high treble and high gain, so I need to think about it a little more. it's a more complex pedal than I initially thought.
@@scrummyvision haha yeah well HM-2's at max level need a noise-gate for sure. And there's a reason why Swedish Death Metal bands never stop playing! 🤣they can't! haha
thats a crazy tone. too bad i dont have 200 bucks to spare or i would definitely pick the plugin up. maybe next paycheck? 👀
Yeah it's a pretty costly plugin. Sometimes it's on sale over at PluginBoutique! 🤘
The chainsaw sample that was used is the original DOOM '93 chainsaw.
So maybe try that if you ever go about it again, it would be even more closer.
Yeah I realized after recording that it was the old doom93 chainsaw. Idk why I didn't think about it haha🤦♂
wow nice catch
@@scrummyvision no problem
you could've probably just used the plugin parallax for a similar enough tone
The Neural DSP plugin? It's for bass. Here I'm using Morph to blend my guitar with the chainsaw sample.
Btw the bass sound IS parallax in this video haha 🤘🏻
I think you got the notes wrong but it still sounds very similar
thanks 🤘
@@Tonepusheryeah i don't play guitar but I do make music and I think the 1st long-rising note should be maybe 1 note higher than the previous one.
I really like your stuff, but i really think you could build a niche for your channel with less typical ,,millenial youtuber'' edits. Maybe try being yourself but going deep on stuff? Thats just a suggestion, i already bought some SERUM presets of yours and i think youre very talented so please, dont stop.
Also, do you do lessons on mix&master online?
thanks man I' trying stuff tp see what works 🤷🏻♂️ I'll really take that advice 😊 Yeah on my Patreon I have a few hours on sound design with Serum. I'll also probably start doing some Live Streaming here on youtube soon 🤘🏻
@@nikodemsulowski9625 I second that opinion!
That was disgusting. I Love it
thanks man :))
It's very nice, the sound of everything but you got the riff wrong, I understand that the video is about soundesign but I can't just not mention that. There is the tab.
D- 0 _ _ _ 12 _ 0 _ 12 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 0 _ 14 _ _ _ 0 _ 14 _ _ _ _ _ _ _
. (1/2 bend) (1/2 bend)
Thanks man, I looked it up online before recording, probably found an incorrect tab hehe (how surprising) Low tuning guitars like that are fuuuucking hard to figure out by ear. Like you said, I'm more of a sound designer/producer than guitar player haha Although I can play, it's not my forte! haha Thanks for commenting dude 🤘
Honored to be 666th like
haha thanks man! I think you opened the gate 💀
зачем так близко к камере, жесть. будто в моё личное пространство вторгаются(
Sit further away from your screen 😂
Bro I've been relistening the original and your version a lot recently and I think your interpretion first note is wrong , or at least the transcript , maybe the first note would sound a lot better if an octave lower while the rest stays higher ( sorry I'm not musically trained and this feedback is trash you can throw but just my two cent :) )
You might be right, it was more about the technique with the morph plugin than the remaking of the original.
Tu sonnes québecois
C'est parce que je le suis! haha 🤘🏻😅 Est-ce que c'est l'accent GSP qui me trahis? 😂
