Awesome video man. As a R5 user myself I agree with everything you said. This is the best photo camera Canon has ever made. Oh and if you ever find yourself traveling through Toronto drop me a line. It's always fun to meet up with other photographers/RUclipsrs. Cheers.
You'd think in an almost $4,000 camera body that you'd have the option to turn on and off IBIS. Kind of a weird thing for me, transitioning from Sony, where that was never an issue for me.
If a lens has IS, turn it off on the lens and it automatically turns IBIS off in the camera body. You can turn the IBIS off in the camera menu if you have a non-IS lens attached to the camera. Go to the RED menu Tab 7. It'll be the first option.
@@jlawr4427 There are times when, and happens on a gimbal, where the IBIS and lens IS combo is too strong and the regular lens IS would be enough balanced with the gimbal. The IBIS can 'jump' which jolts the footage. That's just one example.
its has nothing to do with the camera but with costs. companies had to pay more to import cameras to the EU (European Union) right before canon released the R5 they changed the law. sony payed the price i guess

Thanks Vasko. Glad to hear you agree with my comments. Will keep that in mind if I'm in Canada.

Great review Ryan! Greets to down under
Thanks very much!
Color fidelity profiles are great and they are only around $14. I use them from my EOS R and I will be using them for my R5 once it arrives.

I am aware of that however all of my lenses have IS. The option to turn off just the IBIS, regardless of the lens would be useful for a few reasons.
@@OrionMediaGroup Can't think of any. Seems like you either want IS or you don't. Why would you "partial IS"?

@@OrionMediaGroup You might try changing the photo settings under Red Tab 7, under IS mode. I'm not sure you can do this in the Movie menu.
@@jlawr4427 When an RF lens is attached, that only gives the option for digital IS, not IBIS.
Great video
Thank you!
Is your M1 Mac a 13"? If so, you're OK with editing on a screen that small? Thanks
Yes, it is a 13" as they don't make the bigger sizes as yet. When I edit, I plug it into a 27" calibrated Benq monitor which is great for editing on.
@@OrionMediaGroup thanks Ryan!
The elephant in the room is the 29.59 record limit. Time to let that one go and level up to Sony, or you won't get any respect Canon.
