  • Let's tidy the Shed and store the new batch of fish food. As usual we will feed the trout.
Why not incubating some chicken eggs...

I have two fish ponds already, one about 25m square, but full of weeds, frogs, and lilies.
The other about 70m x 50m but no real flow rate in either. The cost of pumping enough water to keep trout happy in those would be enormous.
Also, they get visited by an otter(s) from time to time. I did have about 50+ grass carp in the larger one, some grew to about about 60cm long, but most have became otter lunch!
In winter the pond also freezes over for up to a week or more, and trying to catch fish in a pond that big... not easy.
So, a closed greenhouse environment seems the only way to go. sinking the 5m x 1.2m tank into the floor seems essential. That would give me about the same volume as yourself, and approximately the same average depth.
Thanks for your help, it gives me a rough idea of what I will need, and what's feasible, in my particular circumstances.

      Hello Ronald,
I mainly feed them with a trout farming fish food and I supplement with live fish food when possible (Fly larvae).

Ironically, tons of fish are caught in the sea to make food to raise fish on land.

I agree, We have lots of improvement to make in this area. I also grow a bit of fish food by myself.
