While I dont think a god does anything to do with it, dont You think this supposed creator has Already blessed us, just through the mere fact Karnivool exists?
Watching this video is like a mini-journey through space and time. I have revisited often over many years now. It reminds me of another video I also revisit by Sigur Ros, Untitled #8, Live.
I'm slightly jealous. I just discovered these guys 2 months ago. Left a RUclips channel playing while falling asleep . Woke up a few minutes into pt 2. Holy shit dude!
How is this not progressive rock? Odd time signatures changing all over the place, complex rhythms and song structures, originality... How is this NOT progressive? What do you define as progressive rock?
It's missing because whoever put this on RUclips converted it down to mono. In the original on Moshcam Drew is still there in the left channel. This version only has the right channel coming through as dual mono. Original - moshcam.com/karnivool/metro-theatre-604.aspx#/13-change-parts-1-and-2
I like it because it helps understand what Hoss is playing w/o Drew. It's a mix-minus ;) Thankfully there's a few other better-mixed versions online so we're not completely bereft of Drew's guitar. IIRC in All I Know from the same gig/moshcam shoot, Drew's mandolin comes through because it was on a little Fender, not his 5150 half-stack.
This actually sounds better in Virtual 7.1 on my headset :D That rarely happens. Might be because the brilliant Karnivool are pushing vibrations in my ears.
I have Always enjoyed the singers voice, but _something_ about That particular moment of this performance he picked up the acoustic guitar *sold* him to me as the second coming of Jeff Buckley. The guy might lack the ability Jeff had, but he is Genuine and Everything he does is without plain showing off, which was the same with Jeff. Not just that, but all in all Sound Awake has quickly become one of my favorite metal/rock records from the 2010s along with White Pony, IOWA, Untitled by Sigur Ros, Catch 33 (in my opinion an Absolute masterpiece and one of the greatest albums Period), Drawing Circles, In Rainbows, and as I just noticed that leaves 3 spots still open for an album from either 2003, 04 or 07 to make it as re-listenable as the aforementioned ones. That said, I have yet to hear Karnivool's last album, and honestly I find it Very hard to revisit Themata. It has some good ideas, but overall I just dont like the song-writing and some of the more *bold* stylistic choices, but I hope to give it a go soon enough.
@@BigThommo Oh, I dont even consider lyrics as important when listening to music, as the music is what its all about for me. If the lyrics are great, Great, but I will never force myself a song with great lyrics if it musically doesnt grab me. the piece of music even if the lyrics are great. Therefore, what I meant by not liking the songwriting was that I dont like how the songs themselves are written musically, as they either feel too cliche at this point (had I listened to it when I was a teen, e.g. when it came out, I might feel differently), doesnt grab me, or just to me sounds unpalatable due to stylistic choices (as an example, I dont like the song Themata itself - I just cant enjoy it, as the eastern sounding motif has never been to my liking). Overall, its not that the material on the album is bad or anything, its just that after Sound Awake, which imo is Such a huge leap forward, I just currently have trouble appreciating it as much. Also, Ive finally went through Asymmetry a couple of times, and that album is Really wild and quite impenetrable at first, but certainly something to return to. I will come back for Themata at some point.
I fucking love Jeff Buckley and I agree something about Kenny reminds me of him. It’s the power in their voices and the vulnerability and rawness of their performances. They are such moving singers who really make you feel the lyrics they sing
The amount of people shushing throughout part 1 is really restoring my faith in humanity
Australian Legends
So lucky to have found this band..God bless myself and Karnivool
While I dont think a god does anything to do with it, dont You think this supposed creator has Already blessed us, just through the mere fact Karnivool exists?
youll never , youll never leave this world alone.
The only band I still want to see live before I die.
Last 5 minutes of this video are the most powerful sounds I've heard in a while.

HEEEYY, it's criminal putting ads in the middle of this
The fact that this doesn't have millions of views is mindblowing!
Mark Hosking is a weapon!
Love his backing vocals...
Ese baterista es un Dios!
That drummer is a f***n God
Unbelievably powerful music these blokes write, Ians vocals are everything i aspire to be :)
I want to have his level of self mastery, his creativity and visionary is off the scale 🤯

Progressive rock is alive and well......;..
How is this not progressive rock? Odd time signatures changing all over the place, complex rhythms and song structures, originality... How is this NOT progressive? What do you define as progressive rock?

Butterfly effect, dead letter circus, Karnivool that’s where it’s at ladies and gents
This is just the moment we feel in rapture
this is where I lead people im introducing to Karnivool. It's a slow burn but usually by the end I have them snagged.
The intro to the second part has so mant inception vibes and i absolutely love it for that
Wish they would promote their EP Persona, more.
3 heavy songs that are sooo good.
found Karnivool 1y ago. There've been some good discoveries since that, but none of em could satisfied me, like these talented fucks do.
Rishloo. Check them out
Had me in stitches with 'these talented fucks'
Fuck you lads, you talented pieces of shit 😂😂🙌
Fuck. I got so emotional just watching this. :'( I can only imagine what it must be like being right there. I wish they would come to Toronto...
+Cuke Jr. Saw them twice, both times 3 hours from home. Not many bands I'd do that for but it was worth it ;)
Is this Australian TOOL?

This actually sounds better in Virtual 7.1 on my headset :D That rarely happens. Might be because the brilliant Karnivool are pushing vibrations in my ears.

Who ever mixed this should be fired.
Nice of kenny to play guitar, you can tell he’s a learner he’s looking at the frets each time he changes chords! But good effort!
Very nice riff in this music, tuning strange for play this music on the guitare :( technical drum good job
rageback This guy should make memes
Omeggia such strange tunings. very drums. much wow.

Bro , seriously ? You don't like the song writing - as in the lyrics themself or the delivery ? Why ? Why do you feel this way - please explain

Anyone else annoyed when the audience clumsily claps along with songs like this?
They don't feel it, yet. They don't understand 😔
Is this a Tool tribute act?
