I don't think Meruem can absorb powers from people by eating them. I know he gets stronger from eating people with Nen powers, buts that's more a quantitive change. He doesn't get new powers like that Kamehameha at the end.

But yeah, none of them can, seeing as Goku as a kid reached light speed back in Dragon Ball by outrunning solar flash, which is a technique that's as fast as light, grabbed Roshi's glasses and went back to where he was before. Most fighting DBZ characters speed blitz everyone in not just HunterxHunter, but also Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail, and most others. There are few anime series out of them all that have characters above those of the DB series, mainly those in Super.

And Cell will get eaten like that because he doesn't understand that the opponent has nen. Remember, if you have paper in your hand and add nen, it becomes a knife which cuts steel. Nen is way stronger than ki or chakra so if Cell is scaling with the opponent then Mereum eats Cell. But the video maker forgot that cell can then power up and eat mereum. My problem with this battle is not that Mureum won (I don't know anything about Hunter X Hunter so I don't know how strong they are) but having one character not even be able to really fight back doesn't make a very interesting fight.

Cell was a villain that wasn't too overpowered and so wasn't perfect. Frieza and the android were either born or made to be the strongest, whereas Cell had to absorb the androids to become perfect. Cell might not have had the same amount of character development as Mereum but that's only because Toriyama had to re-write the main antagonist 3 times before it was accepted by his editors

Actually, phagogenesis doesn't work that way... But I still give it to Meruem as he is faster if you look at how each world would be realistically. DBZ says a lot of things, such as light speed, but then goes right around and says people can see the fight occurring. Which means it is likely only happening NEAR light speed. Meruem on the other hand, can't even see Netero's movements in most circumstances, but can keep up with him due to his proficiency with Nen (ie: tracking movements through literally feeling body energy). This is truly light speed. And with Meruem's high tactical prowess... The winner should be Meruem on these terms, but should be Cell saying he actually moved past the speed of light and DBZ has some other form of sight similar to In.

HXH isn't as strong as DBZ so they toned down the durability factor, but just because the blast wasn't that big doesn't mean it's not deadly, it could in theory kill Goku but I'm not sure. And also Nappa made a blast strong enough to destroy an entire city using his ki, so comparing ki to a small bomb is kind of invalid, but that's all peace✌🏻️

It's kinda funny how Meruem, who is so overwhelmingly powerful in his verse, doesn't even make it past OG Dragon Ball. In this video he does eat Cell's arm, which should make him significantly stronger through his aura synthesis ability, but he'd have to eat a lot more than that to bridge the gap. Either way, I'm glad he won because I was rooting for him.

Abel Cabrera No his tail was not gone, he retracted it into his body and the tip was hidden under his wings, I've watched the Cell saga countless times, I know what I've seen, just because he doesn't use his tail in his perfect form doesn't mean it's gone.
For those who don't know, Meruem's special ability is that if he eats a Nen user, he absorbs their aura and gains mastery of their abilities. Whether or not Meruem would actually beat Cell depends entirely on if Ki and Nen are similar enough for Meruem to assimilate Ki. It can be seen in this OMM when Meruem uses the Kamehameha that they consider Ki to be within Meruem's ability's range, in witch case Cell lost the moment Meruem took a bite of him. Of course, OMM doesn't use research, so Ki equaling Nen is an assumption. If they had been assumed incompatible, then Cell would have won.
To be fair it would make sense they're comparable. Nen is basically a physical manifestation of one's aura, which is literally translated to Ki in Japan. Thus Nen = Aura = Ki. So there's that. There's also the fact that Nen and Ki are both just different representations of one's own life force, and are described as such. Weather or not OMM even accounted for that fact I dunno. But if this were a death battle they'd use the same reasoning most likely.
Not exactly. Both series have explained that Ki and Nen are essentially the same thing. For us to make a reasonable claim that they're the same, we only need to prove they're talking about the same thing. Since Nen is pretty clearly explained, we don't have to discuss it as much. Nen is the ability to control and manipulate one's own Aura to perform supernatural feats and abilities, including extreme strength, durability, and enhanced power. It's also used in various techniques throughout the series, but has always been explained as manipulating one's Aura, which is a person'a life force, as explained by Wing in the series. So Nen is manipulating one's life force. Dragon Ball takes a bit of a different approach to this and you'd have to know a bit of knowledge on the cultural meanings to get the same meaning out of it: 1. Ki is litterally translated to "life energy" or "aura". It's used by Kung Fu and martial arts masters in real life. It's worth noting HxH even references this fact. 2. While Ki is often explained as "latent power" in someone, it's also used to sense if someone is alive or not. Goku and other members have often used their ability to sense ki to determine if someone has died or not, a hint that Ki references life energy. 3. The Spirit Bomb's real translation is the Genki Dama, or "Ball of Origin Ki". Genki doesn't actually mean Spirit, but it's worth noting that it's the Origin Ki, the purest form of Ki that supposedly binds all beings together and rests within every single matter in the universe. Coming from Buddism and Daoism, Ki (Qi) is central and is known as the universal life force of all three realms. 4. There are many beliefs you can practice through meditation and technique to open up your ki. Videl was able to eventually manipulate and use Ki herself. This is similar to Nen training. 5. Ki is known to give DBZ fighters increase durability, strength, stamina, and other feats. By releasing it, most fighters tend to become stronger. Again, this is similar to Nen training with Aura. 6. Goku has shown he can manipulate his Ki, hiding it by closing off his ki to others, then releasing it at the moment of impact. He did this in the Frieza arc against Recoom, and can be paralleled to Zetsu and a Nen "Ko" punch. I could dig a bit deeper but given these facts and the similarities I don't think it's too much of a stretch to argue they're basically the same. It's also worth noting HxH took a lot of inspiration from DBZ, especially since Meurem is based off Cell and Frieza. I wouldn't have been surprised if Nen came from a basis in DBZ as well.

Just like Cell has a powerful Ki, Meruem has a powerful Nen. Theyre both skilled and immensely strong and fast, they both evolve and improve at exceptionally high rates(in different ways), and both have analytical minds, but Cell is far more emotional and rash than Meruem and has a tendency to underestimate his opponents, giving Meruem a huge edge in battle. It makes perfect sense if you simply use LOGIC.

But yeah, none of them can, seeing as Goku as a kid reached light speed back in Dragon Ball by outrunning solar flash, which is a technique that's as fast as light, grabbed Roshi's glasses and went back to where he was before. Most fighting DBZ characters speed blitz everyone in not just HunterxHunter, but also Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail, and most others. There are few anime series out of them all that have characters above those of the DB series, mainly those in Super.

doesn't matter, if goku (in super) fights Master roshi, he is not going super sayan 3 or ssj blue. He stays in base form. Same with cell, he just scales with the opponent. And Cell will get eaten like that because he doesn't understand that the opponent has nen. Remember, if you have paper in your hand and add nen, it becomes a knife which cuts steel. Nen is way stronger than ki or chakra so if Cell is scaling with the opponent then Mereum eats Cell. But the video maker forgot that cell can then power up and eat mereum. They can eat each other until one gives.

Cell was a villain that wasn't too overpowered and so wasn't perfect. Frieza and the android were either born or made to be the strongest, whereas Cell had to absorb the androids to become perfect. Cell might not have had the same amount of character development as Mereum but that's only because Toriyama had to re-write the main antagonist 3 times before it was accepted by his editors

Actually, phagogenesis doesn't work that way... But I still give it to Meruem as he is faster if you look at how each world would be realistically. DBZ says a lot of things, such as light speed, but then goes right around and says people can see the fight occurring. Which means it is likely only happening NEAR light speed. Meruem on the other hand, can't even see Netero's movements in most circumstances, but can keep up with him due to his proficiency with Nen (ie: tracking movements through literally feeling body energy). This is truly light speed. And with Meruem's high tactical prowess... The winner should be Meruem on these terms, but should be Cell saying he actually moved past the speed of light and DBZ has some other form of sight similar to In.

The fight was good. That's all I want. It doesn't have to be realistic, nor does it have to be true to the anime that they come from. Besides, it was a fight that people vote on. He was a memorable villain, but he's still not as popular as the HXH characters.

In this video he does eat Cell's arm, which should make him significantly stronger through his aura synthesis ability, but he'd have to eat a lot more than that to bridge the gap. Either way, I'm glad he won because I was rooting for him.

Unfortunately, Cell regenerates after the self-destruct, and therefore Super Perfect Cell > Meruem.
Hit Cell wouldn't even need to be in his perfect form to kill mereum. Mereum died to a nuclear explosion and was only revived due to his royal guards. 1st form cell would stomp mereum.

Abel Cabrera No his tail was not gone, he retracted it into his body and the tip was hidden under his wings, I've watched the Cell saga countless times, I know what I've seen, just because he doesn't use his tail in his perfect form doesn't mean it's gone.

For those who don't know, Meruem's special ability is that if he eats a Nen user, he absorbs their aura and gains mastery of their abilities. Whether or not Meruem would actually beat Cell depends entirely on if Ki and Nen are similar enough for Meruem to assimilate Ki. It can be seen in this OMM when Meruem uses the Kamehameha that they consider Ki to be within Meruem's ability's range, in witch case Cell lost the moment Meruem took a bite of him. Of course, OMM doesn't use research, so Ki equaling Nen is an assumption. If they had been assumed incompatible, then Cell would have won.
To be fair it would make sense they're comparable. Nen is basically a physical manifestation of one's aura, which is literally translated to Ki in Japan. Thus Nen = Aura = Ki. So there's that. There's also the fact that Nen and Ki are both just different representations of one's own life force, and are described as such.
Weather or not OMM even accounted for that fact I dunno. But if this were a death battle they'd use the same reasoning most likely.

Not exactly. Both series have explained that Ki and Nen are essentially the same thing. For us to make a reasonable claim that they're the same, we only need to prove they're talking about the same thing. Since Nen is pretty clearly explained, we don't have to discuss it as much.
Nen is the ability to control and manipulate one's own Aura to perform supernatural feats and abilities, including extreme strength, durability, and enhanced power. It's also used in various techniques throughout the series, but has always been explained as manipulating one's Aura, which is a person'a life force, as explained by Wing in the series. So Nen is manipulating one's life force.
Dragon Ball takes a bit of a different approach to this and you'd have to know a bit of knowledge on the cultural meanings to get the same meaning out of it:
1. Ki is litterally translated to "life energy" or "aura". It's used by Kung Fu and martial arts masters in real life. It's worth noting HxH even references this fact.
2. While Ki is often explained as "latent power" in someone, it's also used to sense if someone is alive or not. Goku and other members have often used their ability to sense ki to determine if someone has died or not, a hint that Ki references life energy.
3. The Spirit Bomb's real translation is the Genki Dama, or "Ball of Origin Ki". Genki doesn't actually mean Spirit, but it's worth noting that it's the Origin Ki, the purest form of Ki that supposedly binds all beings together and rests within every single matter in the universe. Coming from Buddism and Daoism, Ki (Qi) is central and is known as the universal life force of all three realms.
4. There are many beliefs you can practice through meditation and technique to open up your ki. Videl was able to eventually manipulate and use Ki herself. This is similar to Nen training.
5. Ki is known to give DBZ fighters increase durability, strength, stamina, and other feats. By releasing it, most fighters tend to become stronger. Again, this is similar to Nen training with Aura.
6. Goku has shown he can manipulate his Ki, hiding it by closing off his ki to others, then releasing it at the moment of impact. He did this in the Frieza arc against Recoom, and can be paralleled to Zetsu and a Nen "Ko" punch.
I could dig a bit deeper but given these facts and the similarities I don't think it's too much of a stretch to argue they're basically the same. It's also worth noting HxH took a lot of inspiration from DBZ, especially since Meurem is based off Cell and Frieza. I wouldn't have been surprised if Nen came from a basis in DBZ as well.

The only way Cell can destroy a planet is by aiming a Kamehameha directly at the ground causing an cataclysmic reaction beneath the crust. In a realistic fight why tf would Cell charge up and aim a Ki Blast directly beneath him destroying himself in the process instead of aiming at the opponent in front of him??????????????????? Just like Cell has a powerful Ki, Meruem has a powerful Nen. Theyre both skilled and immensely strong and fast, they both evolve and improve at exceptionally high rates(in different ways), and both have analytical minds, but Cell is far more emotional and rash than Meruem and has a tendency to underestimate his opponents, giving Meruem a huge edge in battle. It makes perfect sense if you simply use LOGIC.
Cell can blow up a solar system. Meruem can blow up a mountain. Case. CLOSED.

LOLICON GOD cell was made from vegeta, goku, picollo and some other characters. Dr Gero made him by collecting things like blood or something that was left from those warriors and because of that he has most of their abilities

He didn't want to destroy the planet because he wanted to acquire it for frieza, who very easily destroyed a planet I might add.
vegeta is rebelling aganist frieza it makes no sense he would try and conquer a planet for Frieza that has dragon ball on it he would want to keep that little fact a secret he didnt want frieza to know about his earth invasion. Frieza is the first confirmed planet buster in the dragon ball manga. My original comment stands sayian arc vegeta isnt proven to be planet buster in the original source
This isn't Death Battle people. They specifically state at the beginning of each episode that NO research is being put into these. They're made for purely for entertainment. Yes, yes! We all get it! "Cell can blow up planets with a finger and Meruem doesn't even compare because blah blah blah"! No one in the OMM team is saying Cell is inferior. What they are saying is "here's a badass fight we animated, enjoy"!
The problem is even with no research all youd have to do is watch one episode to know how vastly cell outclassed hunter x hunter.
