I believe Bowser has the honor of being the first big and bulky enemy Mecha Sonic has faced. All his previous -victims- opponents utilized speed in their combat styles to make up for their fragility, while Bowser did no such thing because he's not fragile. Mecha Sonic had high speed and damage output, with moderate defense. Bowser had low speed, but ridiculous damage output and defense. Blow-for-blow, Bowser is stronger. Remember that the VERY FEW times he was defeated by direct attack IN THE MAIN SERIES, it was through hitting him with BOMBS or METEORS. He's also the only Smash Bros. character who gets free outright Super Armor at low damage. The only hits Bowser landed came from when Mecha Sonic WASN'T MOVING, because not moving is the easiest way to get killed by Bowser in a single hit. The punch catch that started the fight? Mecha Sonic TOOK HIS SWEET TIME throwing the punch, giving Bowser time to react to his movement, stop his attack, and counter while he was surprised. The hit at 46 seconds? If you stop the video at just the right moment, you can see Mecha Sonic LOWERING HIS GUARD to throw a punch that Bowser sidesteps, causing him to make the surprised sound you'll hear right before Bowser decks him. The elbow at 39 seconds? Mecha Sonic TOOK TIME to prepare his attack, giving the more durable Bowser time to brace himself for the hit and counter. The mountain chunks? Mecha Sonic was WAITING to see what they would do, and he was unprepared to see one of them flying back into him, surprising him long enough for Bowser to jump into the air and spike him into the mountain. Finally, of course, the finishing attack. A relatively slow projectile that took time to charge, giving Bowser ample opportunity to interrupt. Instead, he pulls out his Mario Strikers claws, WAITS FOR THE ATTACK, and slaps it back faster than Mecha Sonic can react. Apparently, all the times getting stomped in the Mario and Luigi series has taught Bowser the fine art of waiting for openings in not just your enemies, but the attacks they use. Pile that on top of being a righteously enraged father, fighting seriously for what may be the first time in his life, against an enemy who underestimated him until it was too late, and, well... You get the outcome of this fight.
There is also the fact of an editing technique called Slow Mo to make attacks more Dramatic, gotta take that into account. The Elbow is not so much that Bowser had time to brace for it, but more of the fact of he is just tanky as hell and can take shit-tons of abuse, a simple Elbow to the face isn't enough to knock him off his feet. I do agree that Bowser is the first opponent Mecha Sonic has faced that can TANK anything Mecha could dish out and then some, and thus did not know how to deal with it. Though if you think about it, Mecha should have realized that if Bowser Jr. was durable to live through the abuse he just gave, his FATHER should be able to tank ALOT more. Mecha should have learned not to underestimate his opponents.

He has gone up against Mario several times, and Mario has piloted some star thing(forgot the name) and traveled as a lightning bolt. Plus I think it's safe to say that Bowser has the edge in durability, so while he could not compete with Mecha sonic in speed, his reaction speed would allow him to hit him with a fatal blow (which explains the slow motion parts) ,and his durability ensured that he could survive long enough to do so.
Three things: 1. You can't compare the canon with SMBZ as it messes with canon events and creates inconsistencies (like Mecha Sonic's existence in Sonic 3 for instance). Unless events from the canon are told already happened by the creator (which he didn't), you can't use canon feats for either Bowser or Mecha - so since we aren't told or shown whether this Bowser can survive a black hole - he didn't in the SMBZ timeline. 2. Mario didn't outsmart Bowser in their fight in Episode 2, his brute strength was literally the factor that allowed him to win. Sure, the distraction of Sonic and Shadow's arrival helped, but without Mario's brute strength, he wouldn't have won. 3. Mecha Sonic w/ no emeralds > Chaos Emerald Powered Breaker Beam >= Koopa Bros w/ 1 emerald > Cape Mario > Bowser

@Dark Mario okay. First of all. Mario has to count on bowsers stupidity to be his downfall most of the time. Usually because Bowser keeps traps that can kill Mario, but also himself. Most of the time, Mario would be beaten to a pulp if it were to be a one on one fight, with nothing else to help him of course. Bowser in pure strength could wipe the floor if that happens. If you want to count the RPGs as wins for Mario, that's perfectly fine. But considering that Mario needs power-ups, one-ups, and most of his Allie's to even stand a chance, I'd stick with my claim about the one-on-one fight. If you think however that Mario and Bowser are on the same power level, it would be foolish considering that, as I have stated, Mario is a plumber, and Bowser is a dinosaur turtle dragon, that can grow to the size of a castle.
Okay, again no. Yes, he can use fire, but not at the same level as Bowser. Secondly, if you want to talk about dream team, you have to take in the factor that the only reason that they even got that far was because of dream powers (or whatever you want to call it) and that was from Luigi. In the fight, they have again Allie's, and power-ups, like I've said before. If you want to say "well Mario has beaten Bowser, as a first boss" you have to consider that he was MADE to be boss level. An example would be Bowser inside story, when peach and starlow (terribly sorry if I spelled that wrong) literally had to weaken the guy for Mario to beat him. I'd also like to reiterate that power ups and Allie's, are mainly the reason they've gotten so far. I do understand that bowser has gotten his ass handed to him countless times, but under the circumstances, it would be werid to say that they were on the same page level. If you were to say skill level, however, this changes everything, considering that Mario is smarter and faster than Bowser, but in strength and durability, no way dude

Ecroose Mario don’t use drugs, the muchrooms aren’t drugs also she like him cause he is nice, and finally at the end of odyssey she pick neither of Mario or Bowser.
This is definitely Bowser’s shining moment as both a father and a character. Despite having lost his omega doomship and Peach again, he would much rather go to his son’s aid when he’s in danger than stop Mario from dismantling his plan.
I feel this is a fitting end for Mecha Sonic, he spent his existence playing the big bad villain until he came face to face with a REAL baddie. Long live the king.

Kameron Brown first off Mecha did beat there asses only because he was using 4 chaos emeralds where he had the advantage. The Power Star was the only thing equal(or greater)in power so Super Sonic and Rainbow Mario could've easily killed him in that same episode if only it didn't have a time limit as we saw Sonic powering up a Ki blast. And Mario didn't kick Bowser's ass until the end when he lost his metal form. Before that he gave Mario a run for his only to then beat his ass using the metal mushroom.
It is the truth. Mecha had 4 chaos emeralds mario and co had 0 and were lucky to find the Starman. Bowser only lost because Sonic and them crushed him with their pod.
This was also 8 years ago, when the characters were very different than they are now. Not to mention, One Minute Melee is naturally going to be very limited by both screentime and budget.

Bowser has survived collapsing castles, plenty of swims within lava, having his skin melted off, a point blank super nova, and two black holes. His strength is immense, his aggressive fighting style is not to be underestimated, and his dark magic and electrokinesis is powerful as hell. Mecha Sonic loses.

I definitely am. I'm not that amused when it comes to Death Battle, but Bowser vs Eggman was an exceptionally great episode among the few ones which were actually great episodes.
If memory serves, it was stated some things will be changed in the reboot. One of them being how bad Yoshi gets curb stomped by Mecha. I consider it canon, but only for the old unfinished storyline. It feels like a fitting end, especially for how long Mecha has been avoided rather than beaten outright. For the reboot, obviously not. We'll see when he finishes.

In the 3D Mario games, you have to find creative ways to beat him (Throw onto bombs, break the floor under him, launch comets at him...). In super mario 3D land and the super mario bros Wii and Wii U games, it's still more of a chase and drop in lava. It's usually the koopalings that need 3 stomps on the head though.
I know some of you might hate me for this, but here it is: First: Bowser has a good point, Mecha Sonic not withstanding his own attacks, that's really clever from him, he defeated Eggman the same way. Just remember The Incredibles Movie, that giant orb robot thing could only be matched by itself. Second: Since Eggman and Bowser had betrayed each other, they're enemies now, and Mecha Mario is now in the clutches of the Koopa King, as is seen in this video Mario may never have fought him in the Doomship. Third: This doesn't mean it's the end of Mecha Sonic. Eggman eventually would reconstruct him and REPROGRAM him, so he obeys him this time, making this a battle for the chaos emeralds between the heroes, the Koopa King and Eggman. Fourth: Eggman will lose control of Mecha Sonic once again, like Dr. Gero did with the android on DBZ, snatching the chaos emeralds and becoming the most powerful threat in the series. All of this could turn in a good plot, I don't know what you guys think. Is just a personal opinion.

This is probably my favorite characterization for Bowser, he cares for his son, and when either his son,himself, or his kingdom is at stake he is willing to save his title as the fearsome, cold-blooded villain of a ruler that he is.
Even after winning he lost again. This is one of my favorite One Minute Melee episodes because we don't usually see Bowser fight in versus matchups unless It's another huge threat. Metal Sonic is a threat to Sonic but not like how other villains of Sonic's are. Cool video. ^_^

I actually can see this in SMBZ. Mecha bursting in when Mario and the crew are on the ropes from Bowser's all out assault, laying waste to what's left of his minions, Eggman slinking away, Mecha Sonic ripping Mecha Mario asunder for being a cheap imitation, the Koopalings getting dusted one by one and Bowser Jr. getting the worst of it, and then Bowser having enough of Mecha Sonic's attack, goes right on to fight back! Bowser would probably be at death's door, but Mario could SAVE Bowser's life, since no one deserves to die, not even Bowser. He'd probably just smack him away or something.

Great lesson in matchups. Bowser may be too slow to catch Mario or Sonic, but he's a mountain. Mecha Sonic has both the power and speed to tear apart Mario and Sonic, but trying to go toe-to-toe with a big slugger like Bowser (unless you're also one) is suicide.

@Dark Mario okay. First of all. Mario has to count on bowsers stupidity to be his downfall most of the time. Usually because Bowser keeps traps that can kill Mario, but also himself. Most of the time, Mario would be beaten to a pulp if it were to be a one on one fight, with nothing else to help him of course. Bowser in pure strength could wipe the floor if that happens. If you want to count the RPGs as wins for Mario, that's perfectly fine. But considering that Mario needs power-ups, one-ups, and most of his Allie's to even stand a chance, I'd stick with my claim about the one-on-one fight. If you think however that Mario and Bowser are on the same power level, it would be foolish considering that, as I have stated, Mario is a plumber, and Bowser is a dinosaur turtle dragon, that can grow to the size of a castle.
Okay, again no. Yes, he can use fire, but not at the same level as Bowser. Secondly, if you want to talk about dream team, you have to take in the factor that the only reason that they even got that far was because of dream powers (or whatever you want to call it) and that was from Luigi. In the fight, they have again Allie's, and power-ups, like I've said before. If you want to say "well Mario has beaten Bowser, as a first boss" you have to consider that he was MADE to be boss level. An example would be Bowser inside story, when peach and starlow (terribly sorry if I spelled that wrong) literally had to weaken the guy for Mario to beat him. I'd also like to reiterate that power ups and Allie's, are mainly the reason they've gotten so far. I do understand that bowser has gotten his ass handed to him countless times, but under the circumstances, it would be werid to say that they were on the same page level. If you were to say skill level, however, this changes everything, considering that Mario is smarter and faster than Bowser, but in strength and durability, no way dude

Kameron Brown first off Mecha did beat there asses only because he was using 4 chaos emeralds where he had the advantage. The Power Star was the only thing equal(or greater)in power so Super Sonic and Rainbow Mario could've easily killed him in that same episode if only it didn't have a time limit as we saw Sonic powering up a Ki blast. And Mario didn't kick Bowser's ass until the end when he lost his metal form. Before that he gave Mario a run for his only to then beat his ass using the metal mushroom.
It is the truth. Mecha had 4 chaos emeralds mario and co had 0 and were lucky to find the Starman. Bowser only lost because Sonic and them crushed him with their pod.

I consider it canon, but only for the old unfinished storyline. It feels like a fitting end, especially for how long Mecha has been avoided rather than beaten outright. For the reboot, obviously not. We'll see when he finishes.

But sure enough, I checked back a long time later and wham. I was surprised. Think of SMBZ as... hm. It's like the Castle Series by Oscar Johanson. You think they've given up on it, and then BLAM, there it is, and it's better than ever. Months, years, a long time in between releases mind you, but hey, credit where due.

In the 3D Mario games, you have to find creative ways to beat him (Throw onto bombs, break the floor under him, launch comets at him...). I can't remember much from the rest of the 2D games but i'm pretty sure he can't be killed that way. In super mario 3D land and the super mario bros Wii and Wii U games, it's still more of a chase and drop in lava. It's usually the koopalings that need 3 stomps on the head though.
I know some of you might hate me for this, but here it is:
First: Bowser has a good point, Mecha Sonic not withstanding his own attacks, that's really clever from him, he defeated Eggman the same way. Just remember The Incredibles Movie, that giant orb robot thing could only be matched by itself.
Second: Since Eggman and Bowser had betrayed each other, they're enemies now, and Mecha Mario is now in the clutches of the Koopa King, as is seen in this video Mario may never have fought him in the Doomship.
Third: This doesn't mean it's the end of Mecha Sonic. Eggman eventually would reconstruct him and REPROGRAM him, so he obeys him this time, making this a battle for the chaos emeralds between the heroes, the Koopa King and Eggman.
Fourth: Eggman will lose control of Mecha Sonic once again, like Dr. Gero did with the android on DBZ, snatching the chaos emeralds and becoming the most powerful threat in the series.
All of this could turn in a good plot, I don't know what you guys think. Is just a personal opinion.

Bowser is absolutely evil but he has standards. He cares for his own. He may not be a good person per se, but he’s a damn good leader. Any time he gets deposed, his soldiers can only think of helping him because he’s EARNED their loyalty.

Mecha bursting in when Mario and the crew are on the ropes from Bowser's all out assault, laying waste to what's left of his minions, Eggman slinking away, Mecha Sonic ripping Mecha Mario asunder for being a cheap imitation, the Koopalings getting dusted one by one and Bowser Jr. getting the worst of it, and then Bowser having enough of Mecha Sonic's attack, goes right on to fight back! Bowser would probably be at death's door, but Mario could SAVE Bowser's life, since no one deserves to die, not even Bowser. He'd probably just smack him away or something.

Great lesson in matchups. Bowser may be too slow to catch Mario or Sonic, but he's a mountain. Mecha Sonic has both the power and speed to tear apart Mario and Sonic, but trying to go toe-to-toe with a big slugger like Bowser (unless you're also one) is suicide.
