Dont forget, sans’ attacks only do a stupid amount of damage in the genocide fight because of the karmic retribution trait that comes with a high level of LV. And bill here has done mass genocide to not only his entire species and planet, but also every other planet in his universe. Meaning that despite his win this fight for him is probably literal hell pain wise.
That ability has an effect where the opponent continues to take damage after the attack. Sans doing so much damage is something else, his attacks aren't extremely strong, they hit many times as long as the opponent is touching them which ends up doing a lot of damage.

In weirdmageddon part 1 or 2, Ford tries to use a laser against bill because bill had a weakness to it. Considering sans' genius and 4th wall awareness, I'm pretty sure he could have modified his gaster blasters to do the same thing. That gives sans a huge advantage with the only real advantage cipher has at that point is time stop because sans can manipulate space in most of the ways that cipher can, and sans even time stops once in the game, never uses it in battle but I think we can assume that gives him at least minor resistance to time stop. Anyway, cipher probably would still win but sans has a bigger chance than you'd think

Oh, by the way - you know, this actually makes sense in several ways, and I say that as an Undertale fan who likes Sans. On one hand, of *course* Bill won in the end - I mean, come on, from what I hear, he's practically a physical god. Sans is powerful, yes, but it's pretty obvious that Bill's just toying with him until that last second, considering that Bill can pull out pretty much anything he can imagine from his proverbial ass and isn't limited by the 4th wall in the slightest. It's like putting up a character against their author, except slightly more unfair. On the *other* hand, though, Sans is *AWESOME* in this. Yes, Bill wasn't even halfway serious until the very end, but to be fair, that "not halfway serious" is enough to utterly flatten many potential opponents. Sans using his Gaster Blasters is a given for him, but he used his telekinesis really well too - my favorite part was at 2:55, he used it to slam the halves of Bill together before bouncing him around like a pinball. And when Bill tried to do that super kick at 3:07, it totally failed, and if you look at Sans' position carefully when it fails, it appears that Sans used a teleport to dodge it. Finally, that "retconning Bill's location" thing? *Also* canon to Undertale. In short, Sans *knows* how to use his magic to bring the hurt, and he showed it.
It's why this fight felt oddly relatable to Bill in trying to get my solidworks to run. The whole time I'm just getting the shit kicked out of me. But the moment I figure out wtf is going on it's all downhill from there.

I was just glad to see Sans actually be in one of these & see him lose in a logical way. I figured he'd lose because, despite all the advantages he has, Bill Cipher is a lot more durable & a lot more powerful & he can regenerate.
+The Nigerian Thunder True. Flowey, Asriel, Nappstablook, Mad Dummy, & the amalgamates are probably the only exceptions. Undyne has enough offensive power to suplex boulders for fun but, if you really want her dead, she won't have enough defense to last long unless you get her to transform which isn't likely. It's a big part of why it would be hard to use Undertale characters in Death Battles with any kind of fairness. If you include characters' hesitance to kill, you're breaking the Death Battle rules but, if you ignore a character's hesitance to kill, you're giving Undertale characters an unfair disadvantage because killing intent is mostly what determines how much damage someone does to most Undertale characters. Besides that, Sans is one of the few characters who gives us a pretty clear idea of his abilities because the gameplay leaves a lot of other characters' abilities up to interpretation but, because Sans breaks the rules & is animated doing things pretty much whenever & however he wants, we pretty much see what he can do for the most part. One exception is that we don't know how good he is at dodging. We know he can dodge a kid who's used to everyone just taking hits. We know he can wake up to dodge an attack from that kid but not dodge an additional hit right after. Can he dodge giant beams or are his movements not fast enough? We don't know. Regardless, he's probably not gonna win an endurance match against someone like Bill.

In weirdmageddon part 1 or 2, Ford tries to use a laser against bill because bill had a weakness to it. Considering sans' genius and 4th wall awareness, I'm pretty sure he could have modified his gaster blasters to do the same thing. That gives sans a huge advantage with the only real advantage cipher has at that point is time stop because sans can manipulate space in most of the ways that cipher can, and sans even time stops once in the game, never uses it in battle but I think we can assume that gives him at least minor resistance to time stop. Anyway, cipher probably would still win but sans has a bigger chance than you'd think

Oh, by the way - you know, this actually makes sense in several ways, and I say that as an Undertale fan who likes Sans. On one hand, of *course* Bill won in the end - I mean, come on, from what I hear, he's practically a physical god. Sans is powerful, yes, but it's pretty obvious that Bill's just toying with him until that last second, considering that Bill can pull out pretty much anything he can imagine from his proverbial ass and isn't limited by the 4th wall in the slightest. It's like putting up a character against their author, except slightly more unfair.
On the *other* hand, though, Sans is *AWESOME* in this. Yes, Bill wasn't even halfway serious until the very end, but to be fair, that "not halfway serious" is enough to utterly flatten many potential opponents. Sans using his Gaster Blasters is a given for him, but he used his telekinesis really well too - my favorite part was at 2:55, he used it to slam the halves of Bill together before bouncing him around like a pinball. And when Bill tried to do that super kick at 3:07, it totally failed, and if you look at Sans' position carefully when it fails, it appears that Sans used a teleport to dodge it. Finally, that "retconning Bill's location" thing? *Also* canon to Undertale. In short, Sans *knows* how to use his magic to bring the hurt, and he showed it.

I was just glad to see Sans actually be in one of these & see him lose in a logical way. I figured he'd lose because, despite all the advantages he has, Bill Cipher is a lot more durable & a lot more powerful & he can regenerate.

+The Nigerian Thunder True. Flowey, Asriel, Nappstablook, Mad Dummy, & the amalgamates are probably the only exceptions. Undyne has enough offensive power to suplex boulders for fun but, if you really want her dead, she won't have enough defense to last long unless you get her to transform which isn't likely.
It's a big part of why it would be hard to use Undertale characters in Death Battles with any kind of fairness. If you include characters' hesitance to kill, you're breaking the Death Battle rules but, if you ignore a character's hesitance to kill, you're giving Undertale characters an unfair disadvantage because killing intent is mostly what determines how much damage someone does to most Undertale characters.
Besides that, Sans is one of the few characters who gives us a pretty clear idea of his abilities because the gameplay leaves a lot of other characters' abilities up to interpretation but, because Sans breaks the rules & is animated doing things pretty much whenever & however he wants, we pretty much see what he can do for the most part.
One exception is that we don't know how good he is at dodging. We know he can dodge a kid who's used to everyone just taking hits. We know he can wake up to dodge an attack from that kid but not dodge an additional hit right after. Can he dodge giant beams or are his movements not fast enough? We don't know. Regardless, he's probably not gonna win an endurance match against someone like Bill.

On a serious not though, I do love Undertale and it’s one of my favorite games, but even I know Bill can bend the fabric of reality itself and break all laws of physics with a physical form (which he clearly has in this video), so Sans never really stood a chance to begin with, the only way the Pines defeated him was because he entered one of their minds and got erased, but Sans can’t erase memories, and the only other way to defeat Bill is to use the zodiac, but Sans can’t even draw the zodiac, nor does he have the proper people to activate it.
