  • Since picking up my Mitsubishi Fuso CORE 4x4 expedition truck chassis new from EarthCruiser, the check engine has been on and Earthcruiser wouldn't resolve it so I had to myself. After buying a code reader, I found out that it had a fuel evaporative system code, which after inspection, seems to had been leaking from the fuel filler vent return to the fuel tank. I show my resolution of this which hopefully will help others.
Always ensure that you are safe when making any repairs, and that the repairs meet the manufacturer's intended operations and any regulatory and safety requirements. Fuel and fuel vapors are very dangerous and a hazard to human health, so ensure that any repair you perform on these systems is safe and restores function as intended.
I plan on using my expedition camper on this truck chassis for long-term domestic and global travels with its Offroad all-season capable expedition truck with four-wheel drive for full-time DIY RV travels, adventures and exploration.

I have the impression from your experience and from one other Earth Cruiser customer, that Earth Cruiser is very good with the big picture, but is not that flash on the detail.
Pleased for you that you solved that issue.

Thanks, it's been great to finally resolve this long-standing issue since picking up new. Unfortunately, EC did have several issues throughout the 4x4 conversion that all seem to stem from management decisions and priorities, but the people actually doing the work are attempting to provide the best product they can within limits of the company leadership. I do get the impression they are trying to improve upon the products and service that they provide. I have provided them helpful feedback and will continue to help them improve product and customer support if they are open to it. This video is intended to help their customers with same issue as well as help EarthCruiser reduce chances of this issue occurring to others as they have said has been the case.

Glad you were able to fix it. Surprised a bit they were not willing to help troubleshoot it , fix it, or provide you with a solution. I'm sure there have been other complaints about this type of issue. Or if a one off it just may say there was a goof up on their install.
Do you feel your voicing of your frustration and disappointment with their support and chassis build issues might also have been a factor in their lack of motivation or outright refusal to help?
It seems they have a decent product but a bit of Sophomoric approach to resolving issues.
On that note I do have to say I do not know the full story nor have heard their side. I can only base my opinion off what you have described and shown.
Given you high level for exacting attention to details on the videos you've made, leads me to believe it's perhaps their new offerings of just the truck and chassis without building the habitat at the same time. What they maybe more experienced building.
Thanks for pushing through and having the where with all to investigate and solve the issue. So if others have this issue they can use this as an example.
Thanks for sharing. Side note, missed a few notifications of your new videos or did not get them. Perhaps a branded thumbnail that pops to act as a pattern interrupt in the see of notifications 🤔

Yes, I had called them soon as I picked up the vehicle new (as it triggered only a few miles from their shop after picking up new--see previous videos on this from months ago)--and they said it might be a problem when I picked it up as it has been for other owners. I asked for their help over several weeks, even just sending me their diagnostic tool which I would use to see the error code and then send it back, but they were not willing to help even though the vehicle was brand new. Their solution was for me to take it to a dealer, even though they have had issues with the check engine light all due to fuel system evaporative return. Which since they modify the factory fuel tank, I presumed it would be due to this and that no dealer would touch it with a modified fuel tank. Plus it wasn't very drivable to the nearest dealer a four hour round trip and in the winter time with an open camper when I was seeking their help, so I had to resolve it myself. This video is released almost a year after picking up new and over 9 months after asking for EarthCruiser to help resolve it, with my many suggestions of working together to do so.
      Thanks for your feedback.

@@vantripping I remember the video where you talked about that and the over torque of the chassis bolts. It just seemed odd that you just spent so much money with them, they had several other customers with similar issues and they went right to the pass the buck mode
It's sad the amount of degradation (for a more pc word) of basic customer service and standing behind your work.
But again koodos to your determination and can do attitude to solve it. Well done

@@livingworkingoutsidebox Thank you for your comments. I was very frustrated with many issues during the build process, many that were never resolved including items that we agreed to that EC did not provide, and generally just very poor project management and customer care from a few that really ruin it for the company. Unfortunately, those few are in very pivotal or key leadership roles so they greatly affect customer experience and satisfaction. I have voiced those concerns with EC in a way to help them get better, as I conferred with other customers and we were all having the same or similar issues and unsatisfacotry experience. The EC team does great work and cares about customers but it only takes one manager not focused on the customer to really ruin a positive result. Overall, I am happy with the product but with many frustrations mostly due to poor communications or management of the process. I truly wish EC the best and will help them in any way I can and they are willing to receive, but I must be honest about my experiences or I have no ethics in what I share with my viewers.
Indeed glad I was able to resolve this long-standing issue and hopefully great performance and joy without issues for years to come. I think this platform can provide that.
