Once you have all the floor removed....and cleaned.....take it to water....test for leaks.....reglass the floor of the boat after testing..,.and before putting new floor in....
Great boat and small enough to easily trailer.I just did a similar project alone so you and Dad should have a comfortable time of it.CHEERS from Canada!
@@TheBoatProject 18.5ft Hurston Glasscraft.I did transom, stringers, and floor.New wiring and still need to do exterior paint. I took it out on the chuck for a spin and she is solid again.I hate sanding!!! CHEERS from Canada!
Crow bar and chisels work good. You can get very aggressive 6” sanding discs from trade tools. You’ll need it when you’re making rough surface to glass
Hi friend i have to admit i have several of your videos and really extra work so i take my hat off bro i would ask how much you get the boat after refurbishment. Congratulations.
Hi So happy to have found you. Mind telling us how much you paid for your boat. I’ve just bought a 1/2 cabin that will take 8 people. Bit bigger than your, but I’m wanting to do just the way you are. I even shop at the same Bunnings. This is so refreshing. I’m beginning to feel more confident doing my refurbishment now.
Nice work mate get ready to be itchy😂 I’m just finishing a seagull mk1 my advice is buy a multi tool and a good bit for it as can cut everything flush without the chance of accidentally cutting in the hull good chance the stringers are gone they didn’t do a good job of sealing them with where the bulkheads meet good luck 👍
Thanks! What year was your MkI? Yes the multitool seems to be the go! As for the itchyness I know it's coming, not looking forward it it but it's all part of it I guess!
Peter Austin not sure what year mine is but pretty sure it’s mark 1 doesn’t have the seat cut outs in the back, just wear the disposable coveralls and a good respirator I had a full face and used the 60 or 80 grit flap disk on angle grinder
anywhere on facebook or insta to follow this? currently doing the exact same! hopefully get some motivation from this. and only down the road given your location.
@@TheBoatProject Love it! Me and my brother just got a swiftcraft seagull, 1980s ish. Just ripped up the floor and looks like we are going to need to fix a few of the stringers, bit of rot. Looking forward to seeing how yours comes along!
Hi Bob, yes! They're coming. We have just finished putting in the lockers and nearly finished the seats. The last couple of week have been busy with a house renovation and a trip to Fraser Island so slow progress with the boat. I'm editing the next video now and hopefully it will be ready before the end of the week. 🤞🏻😄
Good video. Nice that you and your Dad get to work together on this project. I will Subscribe.
Banging vid! Look forward to updates. Will be a great runner

Reminds me of why I once did this, and why I’ll never do it again...
I'm sure you'll do it again at some point, once you find the right project!
