You worked hard on the boat and trailer but it was well worth it. What a great day on the water with your family! You live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Thank you so much for sharing your day with us. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Your Uncle would be proud of Your work Am sure Great Job Marty & documenting His 1st fish what a great vid Wish I had a photo or a vid of My 1st fish Thumbs up from UK
She's rapid, a great little cruiser you have now. Those aerial shots of Marlborough Sounds are utterly stunning, your craftwork ain't too bad either. ;)
I really miss the sheltered water of the Sounds: it's straight out into open water here on the Sunshine Coast. Excellent work saving that boat and trailer.👍
I finally figured out one of the reasons I love your channel. You fix things in such a calm manner. You make work look like fun, and we all know it is way harder than you make it look. Keep up the great work.
Totally agree with ur comment on calm and making it look easy , myself i always lose the heid and that never works sometimes i have to walk away from it and coome back latter to see if i can work it out.

Very nice job Marty! I love it when you don’t change all rollers, because you can. No, you salvage rollers because you can! Just an example of your approach to repairs: repair, not replace! Enjoy the boating!
@@IGDZILLA But of course Marty’ an tight-arse…and his proud of it. A propper tight-arse saves his money and resources where he can….just to have resources where he want to use them. Like Marty..! Great work!!
Nice job and so great for your kids to be around parents who are always industrious and clever, it will stand them in good stead. Suggest bolting a 12" x 1" plank down the length of the trailer to make it easy and safe to walk down and hook the boat on.
It will be a good idea to pull the lower unit off the motor inspect everything and put new gear oil and a new impeller in. If the impeller fins stay bent when removed its time to replace it. Also you will want to check the thermostat and the water passages in the motor- before its to late! Make yourself a test tank so you can flush the motor at home. Awesome job on those stringers by the way!
Yeah I Replaced the impeller, thermostat and gave it a good going over, also had to do some work on the motor base/exhaust, these motors are quite prone to corrosion there
Marty, as always your work is inspiring, your videos are meaningful, your kids are adorable (great capture of the boy’s 1st fish!), and you brighten the day of all of us who get to watch along and live vicariously! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Marty that has the makings of a cracking boat you have done all the leg work now its titivating getting all the interior wood sorted and making it look spanking new
Oh yes great video old boats romantic guys like myself.. I've been around boats for close to 50 years On San Francisco Bay. I cut my teeth on 1920 vintage wooden cruisers Back in the day. I'm now down to my last boat that I will ever own which is an album 25 Deluxe Built like a little battleship out of Sweden In the 1970s.. And as we know there's a reason boats are mostly named after ladies if you don't take care of them bad things will happen. Blessings to you and yours coming at you from the mountains of Southern Oregon
An old 1970's FiGlas runabout. there were some world class craft on the water & in our showrooms before the National government recreation tax crippled half the industry in nz.. That which you have done to the hull has improved the vessel massively Mr.T. Congratulations on your first skipjack tuna young fella. It was a tiddler and I dunno what it was. But it was nearly bigger than the fisherman! Too bad we never thought to measure it!?
Great job repairing the trailer. The old boat needs some TLC otherwise she's a runner. You have a fine family and everyone looks to have had a good time fishing.
Wish the fishing was as good as that here on the Gold Coast. New Zealand obviously taking better care of the fishing resources than Australia. Nice work on Boat and trailer.
With a little more work and some paint, that would be a nice looking little boat to take the family out on. Thank you for having your children wearing their PFDs. Your a good dad.
This is a reason why you should wash your boat and trailer off with soap and fresh water after salt water boating, nice job on trailer, must be very satisfying to bring it back.
I am so glad you kept the boat in the family, it was a pain in the ass iḿ sure but, look at all the trips your going to have fishing with yopur sweet little family ? Very well done , See Ya, Texas
Seaborn was my Dads middle name. Great video. Working around boats my whole life. After cleaning off rust all was cleaned with phosphoric acid and washed. I used ZincChromate paint on all iron and steel parts, then a really good paint... Workes for years. Thanks so much.
A great family boat well worth the repair, the 115 Johnson is a rebadged Suzuki and a solid motor so a really good package. Nice work on the trailer I have just spent the past few months chasing the rust on mine.
Your an inspiration man your uncle would be stoked....theres plenty of boats out there just waiting to be dumped and it goes to show with abit of hard work a young fulla can have himself his own sturdy ship

Watching the first part of this video i kept thinking.. why.. why the effort and time on this project (even sentement has a limit) but by the end of the video, i got it... priceless new memories with the family... thanks again for sharing your world!!!!!
Great memories are made from the hard work you provide. Turning dread into joy, Seaborn rebirth is almost complete, minor cosmetics to allow for comfort and ease onboard. Happy days skipper.
My father and I did the same thing to a boat when I was in high school. It was fun. Loads of work though. Ours didn't have a motor so he built a motor bracket/swim platform for the back and we used a little 15hp for it. Not quite enough motor to get the little boat up on a plane.
I bet those fish tasted fantastic after all that hard work!!! Those kids will always remember moments like that. Great memories and quality family time.
Your Uncle is looking Down Smiling seeing. How You have restored the boat and using it with the family. Awesome job Sir. And Great Video...The Smiles on your kids faces are PRICELESS.....
Lots of work but good to keep the boat in the family and off of the scrap heap! A bit more work on the interior and it might serve as a nice overnight bunk. Thanks for sharing.
Happy to see an eager beaver…just chewing on. «It’ll be alright» & «It’ll do» is just whats needed. We, and myself indeed, could have achived so mutch more. And still be happier! If just setteled there. «It’ll do». Have a great one, matey.!!
Great repair Marty I used to sandblast and. arkspray the taste of galvanizing was aweful even wearing a respirator ,nice fishing in kenepuru ,have a mate that's got a new Bach up that way ,lovely place , I'm forever trying to contain surface rust on my leaf springs on my boat trailer ,mite have to separate the spring pack and regalvinize them use rust kill but doesn't get into the centre of them , cheers , shaneo, nelson, 👍
Once again, great job Marty. Your uncle would be proud of not only how well you fixed the boat and trailer but also that you saved it from extinction. Your children are adorable. I'm sure for years to come they will fondly talk about that fishing trip.
As usual, you take a massive job and break it down into small components and then muscle through them. I can see where one would need to take a breather as in total, you took a wreck and slowly but surely whittled away at it. Bravo, and bravo again for being your beautifil childrens' benchmark for staying the course even when it seems nearly insurmountable!
Fantastic boating after working hard on fixing up the boat. Got the kid his first fish (plus mom and dad caught a few meals, as well). Perfect day out, Marty. Greetings from Canada!
Our local tip shop in Caboolture Queensland has a fleet of old boat trailers come through. I picked up a beautiful 6x4 fully galvanised box trailer with cage and LEDs for $30. It had been overloaded and snapped at the base of the A frame. Did the same repair as you with a second bit of angle over the rhs. Moves a 1000l ibc with a little petrol pump for bush fire season.
Sat outside the Slip Inn watching guys like you coming home with their catch a few years back - what a place and what fish - hope to come out again one day !
