In Texas, you can not operate without registration. And registration requires a title, not only for your boat but also for your motor. Hurricane Ike provoked legislation because there are so many dishonest people out there. But him squaring with the insurance company is definitely the right, ethical thing to do.
Hi Marty: I had a similar boat left on my shore by the owner years ago. After 10 yr. or so I salvaged it. On fresh water, there was no corrosion holes but it had been put together with rivets and having met with many rocks over the years, when put in the water it would quickly fill .The previous owner had attempted some repair with silicone, but that just covered up the issue, and didn't stop the leaks. First step was to clean that all off, like you did. I identified leaks by putting the boat up on a stand and filling it with enough water to show the leaks dripping on the outside , and marked them with a grease pencil. Removing the water I could then reset the rivets with a pair of hammers and test with a water refill. Eventually I got all the leaks stopped up . Frank
I dont know what Marty's wife is going to be more upset about, the fact that he got another boat or that she now knows where that knife went missing...

I'm absolutely addicted to watching you bring old abandoned discarded things back to life. I'm rebuilding an 85 suburban as we speak. They don't make these things like they used to.
I acquired a small aluminum boat with a few leaks and managed to repair them using low temperature aluminum welding rod and a MAPP torch. Now I'm saving up for the money to get it officially registered, since I plan to use a 2hp outboard on it. Got the outboard free and only had to replace the plug wire.
A lot of people recommending flex seal, but remember - first you got to cut the bottom of the boat out and replace it with window screen. A lot of extra work, in my opinion.

JB Weld is fantastic. I turned over a 10ft. jon boat and it landed on a rock, tearing a 4 1/2 inch hole in the hull. I used JB Weld on it and 25 years later not a drop comes through.
I personally would use white (untinted) “Raptor Liner” bed liner to spray the entire interior and use the black Raptor on the bottom side below the waterline. Completely encapsulated and protection from beach gravel grinding away the metal. You could spray the whole boat for roughly $200 American, Just a thought. love the channel, just came across you today and you’ve got a new sub here.
Just a little tip, if you check the oil in the lower unit always remove the bottom screw. If there is water in the oil it will settle out in the bottom. The oil on top could look fine and the could still be water in it.
can't complain about that... a nice light boat to go fishing in and the outboard seems well matched to it. ... maybe if you have future issues you can try aluminum brazing rod or Flex Seal heh
Either change your trim angle or install a fin on the plate above the prop and you'll stop the porpoising, pickup speed, and get on a plane much faster.

JB Weld is fantastic. I turned over a 10ft. jon boat and it landed on a rock, tearing a 4 1/2 inch hole in the hull. I used JB Weld on it and 25 years later not a drop comes through.
Leave him alone guys he’s honest and forthright. I could find myself drinking a beer and hanging out with guy.
keep up the great work Marty!
I personally would use white (untinted) “Raptor Liner” bed liner to spray the entire interior and use the black Raptor on the bottom side below the waterline. Completely encapsulated and protection from beach gravel grinding away the metal. You could spray the whole boat for roughly $200 American, Just a thought. love the channel, just came across you today and you’ve got a new sub here.
wow, even a few hour ago i've re-watched the original video of this boat, and now a new video, great :D
Man.... You scared the Bejezus outta me towards the end. LOLOL
Just a little tip, if you check the oil in the lower unit always remove the bottom screw. If there is water in the oil it will settle out in the bottom. The oil on top could look fine and the could still be water in it.
Definitely. I learned that the hard way with a 80 horse Mercury.
I was waiting to see a bucket of Flex Seal come out..
But I guess this works just as well.. Good on you mate..
Using a butter knife, out of the kitchen of course, for the JBWeld... I’m sure your wife is proud of you 👍
Good job mate!
can't complain about that... a nice light boat to go fishing in and the outboard seems well matched to it. ... maybe if you have future issues you can try aluminum brazing rod or Flex Seal heh
Marty...you look like a modern day pirate
Running that boat!!!
Capt. Marty sparrow!!
The scurage of New Zealand!
yeah i have watched a few of your videos lately and just wanted to say ;thanks'. no nonsense common sense work. very helpful.
As soon as I seen him using his wife’s good silverware to mix and apply JB weld , I knew I liked him!!
It was very therapeutic to restore my 1955 Orlando clipper 14 lots of sanding chipping and painting! She's beaut now!
I spent a summer ripping round on one of those doing lifeguarding, they're good fun!
Silapreen works great at fixing them . THAT'S what they patch Van trailers around here with .
Love the videos! Especially this one! What a life
That's a handy little boat. Needs a industrial waterproof sealent.
Either change your trim angle or install a fin on the plate above the prop and you'll stop the porpoising, pickup speed, and get on a plane much faster.
