Rudy being albino kind of makes sense as to why he is so aggressive and giant. Most albino creatures die off in nature due to not being well camouflaged as well as just having some health defects so Rudy literally defied nature by being too angry to die. He had to be aggressive and relentless to survive otherwise he would just be pushed around or killed by the other dinosaurs. His l hyper aggression would also play into his gigantism with him probably eating a lot more than he needs sort of like a big bass in a pond would. Unlikely to happen in nature but it makes sense when you take all that into consideration which I like.
Can we also take a moment to realize how fuckin terrifying Rudy must be. A Oversized, scarily smart, Albino Baryonyx is able to force a damn T Rex into hiding, and the only way Rudy lost is because Momma Rex put him into a position where he couldn't fight back or stop himself from falling. Think about that, a T Rex, who could kill most things with a single bite, has to hide and use ambush tactics just to beat a Baryonyx. Oh, also, according to the Wiki, Rudy is 126-150 feet tall and 315-375 feet long, canonically, he is a fucking Kaiju. Man, they should've brought him back in Ice Age 5 since Buck returned in it.
I loved this film as a kid, mainly because I found Buck downright hilarious. Dawn of the Dinosaurs is definitely my favorite Ice Age sequel! It’s a lot more action packed, the animation continues to improve, Buck stole the show with his quirky personality and likable attitude, and it has dinosaurs! Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? This also should’ve been the ending to the Ice Age franchise since it ended Manny’s arc of rebuilding his new family.

the whole co-parenting with Sid and the Rex is somehow both ridiculous and wholesome and i love it so much lol that dinamic and Ellie's dinamic with Diego at the end were my favorites honestly
The fact Manny is so protective of Peaches and has the Dad experience means he's not a first time father, if you remembered the cave painting scene and we learn why Manny used to be so bitter.
The meltdown is most definitely what caused the dinosaurs to awake. If you remember in the first movie, while Sid was looking at the creatures frozen in the ice, there was a T-Rex.
The squirrel's name is Scrat, and the lady squirrel's Scratte. I actually liked them both together, I think it could've worked. If you pay attention, during the song "Alone Again (Naturally)" where the acorn "looks sad", it's the only time in the entire series where Scrat didn't get hurt or got into a bad situation. Only when he was actually away from his acorn and with another squirrel did he really feel truly happy. It's kind of a sad little detail (that's probably not intentional). Great reaction by the way! This was always my favourite of the movies.
I love the little detail where the animators used Scratte’s ears to look like devil horns twice in the movie. First where she ripped the acorn off of Scrat and then when Scrat got caught with the acorn again.

I love this movie so much, It’s just so iconic. Also Rudy technicaly is albino Baryonyx which is related to Spinosaurus but should be smaller (they just went a bit over with this guy’s design, which I love).
I think he was originally supposed to be a spino but they decided not to because of beef between rex fans and spino fans that got sparked by a certain 2001 dinosaur movie.

The "not moving" at front of a Tyrannosaurus Rex or it's near is overexaggerated in the movies. The species had a fantastic eyesight with as big eyeballs as an orange, so they were capable of seeing like, 6 km wide, paired with incredible smelling and hearing.

In terms of the birth in the worst possible circumstances, can't speak for humans or elephants/mammoths, but I do have experience with horses. In horse pregnancies, there's a saying "The foal chooses the week, the mare chooses the hour." Essentially, a mare can halt her early stages of labor if she feels that it's not safe; which is why in a barn you don't want to be bothering her too much. In fact a lot of horses will wait until the people leave before delivering the foal. It's only really after the water breaks that there's an urgency; foal needs to come out within 20 minutes at that point otherwise they tend to have complications. But before the water breaks, could be in labor for hours. I saw one who was having contractions on and off for 12 hours before her water broke. There's even a technique for when the foal is coming out the wrong way; you get the mare up and walking and the act of walking sucks the baby back in where you can rearrange them, and you see mares do this on their own, they'll get up and down walk around until they feel like they're ready. So the mother definitely has a certain amount of control over the birthing process Obviously this is pretty desirable for a prey species and there are other species that do this. If it's not safe to give birth, pause pick it up once it is safe. If mammoths had similar instincts, this is the exact situation that you'd see it in

I love Buck and his crazyness, the whole theme of, and especially the humor in this movie. For me this movie and the whole series will always remain a masterpece. I remember watching them together with my family and I'm getting really nostagic watching them again alongside you. 🧊🦖❤
Buck Wild and Captain Jack Sparrow have quite a bit in common, in terms of mannerisms, ways of speaking, and the way that they're the chaos in a normal society, and yet when the situation itself is chaotic, they're the only one who's calm. Ironically, though, Jack Sparrow doesn't have an eyepatch even though that's a stereotype of a pirate, and Buck DOES have an eyepatch.
Was really looking forward to this reaction, I'm glad you guys liked it! The fourth used to be my favorite at one point, but I like different things about each of them. Another great animation I would love for you to see is Meet The Robinson's :)
Honestly, I think this might be my favorite. I definitely liked it most as a kid but that usually doesn't hold up. In this chase however I think it does. First if all, the performance of Simon Pegg alone is absolutely worth this movie (and it rivals the only other completely iconic performance of these movies: Sid in the German Dub. Yes, I am not kidding, the German version of Sid is iconic and for me at least way better than the English version) I also haven't seen it in a while and was surprised HOW MANY movie and genre references were in this movie. Between this and some parts of the dialog it honestly feels like Simon Pegg was part of the scriptwriting process
Rudy is some kind of Suchomimus or Baryonyx, but like 15 times bigger and with some crocodilian look. Also, most of the dinosaurs in the movie are way bigger than they should be.
Fun fact: Diego’s first hunt in this movie is (perhaps unintentionally) reflective of how Smilodon went extinct in real life, they’re designed to hunt large, slow herbivores like Toxodon, not fast agile ones like deer, they weren’t physically built for it……in essence they had the Cheetah problem, except instead of a lack of energy, they ran out of the prey they were specialized to hunt
Hi James, the name of the Saber Toothed Squirrel is Scrat and interestingly enough bet you and Nobu didn’t know this but most of his vocals, screams and yells are voiced by Blue Sky Studios co-founder and director Chris Wedge.🐿️🐿️
If u wanna learn what real dinosaurs were really like then u should watch the series Prehistoric Planet, it’s produced by Jon Favreau, hosted by David Attenborough, music done by Hans Zimmer, and there r also lots of well-known paleontologist working on the show too! It is a very modern depiction of what prehistoric life was like, depicting dinosaurs less as monsters who liked to fight all the time and more like regular animals who were just trying to survive. The CGI is so good, at some points u forgot that it’s not real. The first season is already completely out and the second season is conveniently coming out tomorrow!!!
Playground story: I remember when I was in kindergarten, a bunch of kids would stay after school to play on the field and the playground. I had brought a soccer ball with me to school that day. Almost everything I brought to school back then had my name on it, everything from my pencils to a soccer ball. I stayed to practice with my soccer ball after school. A kid asked if he could try, I said yes. He didn’t give it back. When my Mom showed up to pick me up, she found me sitting, drawing in the dirt. She also saw a kid and a bunch of his friends playing with my ball. When my my mom asked me what happened, I said he borrowed my ball and when I asked for it back he said no. She told me to go over and get it back then we were going to go home. I went over, but the kid didn’t give it back. I went back to my mom and told her what had happened, so she went over to go help me get it back. When we started asking the kid for my my ball back, this other kids mom came over yelling at my mom. I don’t really remember what they said, but I know my mom eventually won when my mom took out her drivers license, pointed to her last name and then pointed to the name written in big black sharpie across the soccer ball. I don’t remember much, but I won’t forget how quick the other mom shut up and walked off with her kid after my mom showed her the name on the ball.
Incase anyone was wondering Rudy is actually a Baryonyx which is a close relative to Spinosaurus however they aren't larger then a T.rex like Rudy is in the movie
I saw this movie when I was 14 and all I remember is thinking "damn, that t-rex is kinda a MILF," and then immediately regretting my mind had gone there.
Something that i never realized until recently is how massive rudy truly is. A Wooly Mammoth is like ankle height to him. Can you imagine how small a human would look next to him?
i think rudy was potrayed as a suchomimus which is basically spino with no sail and then theres a baryonyx which u saw in fallen kingdom in one the scenes but man this movie was so dope dude i saw it as a kid when it first came out i was with myy cousin in houston and i remember the mall we went to and i had found a toy dinosaur tht was actually a freaking spino but a cool realistic one and it was big and i remember my aunt got me it vefore they closed the store then we got to see this movie IN 3D .... doesnt get better than tht man ! loved this movie so much

The equivalent of a wax, that was pull out way too fast to not suffer much 😂😂
Oof
SCRAT IS SO FUNNY IN EVERY ICE AGE MOVIE ISTG HE MAINLY MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN THE ICE AGE FRANCHISE🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
41:34 Didn't see it but...
Manny: Buck, when exactly did you lose your mind?
Buck: Uh... Three months ago... 🤣
This is the best movie of this series. It was always my favorite.
2:09
It's nice to see them like Scrat so much 😂
Now let's wait until they hear about what recently happened to him, a very passionate person and BlueSky😅
This one was my favorite out of the three. I really loved the additions with the two squirrels as always
This used to be my brother and I's favorite iceage movie, literally watched it on repeat everyday.
Buck is my favourite! I generally love insane/crazy characters and he is on my top 5!
51:15
The fact that they made the acorn search for the squirrel intead stills craks me up when I see it 😂
I really love all of the Ice Age movies but this one truly is my favourite. It already was as I was a kid, it still is and always will be. I love Buck and his crazyness, the whole theme of, and especially the humor in this movie. For me this movie and the whole series will always remain a masterpece. I remember watching them together with my family and I'm getting really nostagic watching them again alongside you. 🧊🦖❤
Im mostly loving this movie, for taking a pause of THE ICE!!?
For the question about the scale. Apparently the t-rex and mammoth would have been pretty much the same size and weight :)
Buck carries this film on his scrawny little shoulders
Honestly, I think this might be my favorite.
I definitely liked it most as a kid but that usually doesn't hold up. In this chase however I think it does.
First if all, the performance of Simon Pegg alone is absolutely worth this movie (and it rivals the only other completely iconic performance of these movies: Sid in the German Dub. Yes, I am not kidding, the German version of Sid is iconic and for me at least way better than the English version)
I also haven't seen it in a while and was surprised HOW MANY movie and genre references were in this movie. Between this and some parts of the dialog it honestly feels like Simon Pegg was part of the scriptwriting process
That's why it took me years untill I finally watched the english original. Otto's version of Sid is just so good.
Rudy is some kind of Suchomimus or Baryonyx, but like 15 times bigger and with some crocodilian look. Also, most of the dinosaurs in the movie are way bigger than they should be.
One my favorite Ice Age movies so far... ❤
Hell yeah, my favorite of the ice age movies.
I just realized that I know this entire movie by heart... What an interesting skill.
Best child hood film definitely showing this to my future kids
I can’t express how much I love both of your reactions to this series lol they’re hilarious
Hell yeah this is my favourite ice age movie. I used to watch it all the time
Edit: how has it almost been a year HOW
Fun fact: Diego’s first hunt in this movie is (perhaps unintentionally) reflective of how Smilodon went extinct in real life, they’re designed to hunt large, slow herbivores like Toxodon, not fast agile ones like deer, they weren’t physically built for it……in essence they had the Cheetah problem, except instead of a lack of energy, they ran out of the prey they were specialized to hunt
Hi James, the name of the Saber Toothed Squirrel is Scrat and interestingly enough bet you and Nobu didn’t know this but most of his vocals, screams and yells are voiced by Blue Sky Studios co-founder and director Chris Wedge.🐿️🐿️
How the FUCK did Rudy fit in that cave without breaking it like he did when coming out?!?!?
Poor scrat just can't catch a break 😂 Bucks humour is on point 😂 This was fun to watch with you guys😊 ☕ have a good day ❤
Hey Jess, 43:05 !!! 😂
Pahahah I love our inside jokes 😂👌
This is one of the best films im the series!
I think u guys have seen a baryonyx before when u reacted to jurassic world fallen kingdom
It was the dinosaur in that tunnel scene
I think Rudy is supposed to be a Baryonyx but after seeing Jurassic World, all I see is Indominus Rex 😂😂
This is my favorite movie in the franchise, and Buck is my favorite character.
Something that i never realized until recently is how massive rudy truly is.
A Wooly Mammoth is like ankle height to him.
Can you imagine how small a human would look next to him?
I finally got a chance to watch this video from y'all
Also I love the family tree thing at the end of the movie as well
i think rudy was potrayed as a suchomimus which is basically spino with no sail and then theres a baryonyx which u saw in fallen kingdom in one the scenes but man this movie was so dope dude i saw it as a kid when it first came out i was with myy cousin in houston and i remember the mall we went to and i had found a toy dinosaur tht was actually a freaking spino but a cool realistic one and it was big and i remember my aunt got me it vefore they closed the store then we got to see this movie IN 3D .... doesnt get better than tht man ! loved this movie so much
I think this is my favorite Ice Age movie. I enjoyed the second one too, but this is the first and only one of them I've seen in theaters. My love for this one went so far that I bought the Ice Age 3 game on PS2 and played the absolute hell out of it, so much that I knew it inside and out. Buck is one of my favorite characters in the franchise and Diego solidified his place among my favorites even further than he did in the previous movies.
Finally!! I was looking forward to this reaction for a long time!
I remember watching this in theaters for my 8th birthday😂so many good memories and the jokes still hold up👏🏼
Rudy is an albino Baryonyx, cousins of the Spinosaurus
33:38
Eddie: Hey Crash, why are we singing a Christmas song if Jesus wasn't born yet?
Crash: Just don't think about it.
Rudy is a Baryonyx a relative of spinosaurus
