@El Macho Gato Yeah, but notice that the strong female character sometimes turn out to be...the ONLY one? I mean yes, Susan is great, but aside from less than ten-line side characters, she's essentially the only female in this movie. Same with characters like Roxanne Ritchie and Princess Fiona. Great characters, but stuck in male-dominated movies. Then there's the token female characters like Gloria in Madagascar (1st one especially) and those whose main function is to be the love interest (hmm...also Gloria, actually). And actually, Disney has a higher female protagonist ratio than DreamWorks. I can count on one hand how many times DreamWorks had a female protagonist (not counting sequels). This movie, Chicken Run, Trolls, Abominable. Granted DreamWorks is not as old as Disney, but still a small number in the what, 20 movies they've done? Don't get me wrong. Still love these movies, but I don't think saying DreamWorks is more feminist than Disney is fairly accurate.
That actually makes me feel better about the ending. I know they were going for embracing her differences instead of going back to normal but I couldn't help but think of how lonely her life would be
Her power weren't regulated, the quantonium was almost entirely drained from her body (leaving her only slightly taller than her normal human size) and the leftover absorbed the energy of a planet destroying explosion so she grow to her big size by using the absorbed energy.
At 15:39 "I feel like I don't know enough movies to get all these references". The 5-note sequence the President plays first is the alien communication sequence in the 1977 movie, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". It was used in that movie to establish communication between an alien spaceship hovering over a gathering of scientists on Earth.

Hands down one of the funniest and most original DreamWorks Animated films that is a satire/homage to the Alien and Monster movies, similar with the _Shrek_ film series being a satire to Disney animated films and the Fairy Tale genres, _Kung Fu Panda_ for the Kung Fu film genre, _Megamind_ for the Superhero films genre and recently _The Bad Guys_ for the Crime/Spy film genre. Even the voice cast for this movie is impressive as you got Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Hugh Laurie, Rainn Wilson, Kiefer Sutherland, Stephen Colbert as *THE* President of the United States, and Paul Rudd. Dreamworks have made some wacky films over the years. I remember this being one of those that got a pretty bad rap when it came out. But seeing this reaction made me weirdly nostalgic for it. Honestly I think I'll remember more out there films like Bee Movie & Monsters vs Aliens better than some Disney films that don't experiment as much.
I’m not surprised that you would find Bee Movie and Monsters vs Aliens(though I prefer Monsters vs Aliens over Bee Movie)more rememberable than some of Disney’s movies. I don’t mind that Monsters vs Aliens is one the more wacky side of things.
I love all the little nods to the B-movies of the 1950s: Attack of the 50-Foot Woman, The Blob, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, The Fly, Earth vs The Flying Saucers, The Thing From Another World, and probably a bunch more even I missed. Even the paddle-ball scene in the beginning is a nod to the 3-D paddle-ball scene in House of Wax.
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is an incredible movie! Can’t wait to see you guys react, if you end up doing it! It was one of my favourite book series as a kid!
So, from what I understand, the whole reason this movie exists was because of the wave of 3D movies in the 2000's. It was originally pitched as a way to parody the sci-fi movies that were known for having some groundbreaking visuals, because they could be elevated by this new 3D technology to evoke that same kind of awe that the originals did, just in a much more goofy and cartoony way. There's definitely a fair number of 3D gimmick shots in this movie, and once you know to look for them you'll definitely see them, but I don't think it detracts from the experience at all. It's still a pretty good script, and a lot of the visual design holds up even without the intended 3D context.
It's also yet another self-aware joke, because 3D technology was often used in 50's monster movies (including the original The Blob with Steve McQueen in one of his earliest roles).
I hate Derek, because he was talking about not being able to put his life on hold and live in her shadow. But she was willing to do that she was willing to sacrifice all that stuff to Mary him because she loved him but apparently he did not love her as much as she loved him and that’s sad to me
I always loved this movie as a kid, and Susan is a likable main protagonist. Plus, I got a huge kick out of the "Axel F" sequence, as random as it may be! 😹
I had no idea watching this reaction that I’d end up remembering most of the dialogue by heart but I was pleasantly surprised lmaoo I definitely appreciate it a lot more as an adult seeing all the old school sci-fi movie references. It’s a really well done parody.
I've seen this movie a bunch of times when I was younger and I never realized the generals name (W.R. Monger/War Monger) was a joke. Such a funny and creative name.
wonder how many people noticed w.r. monger is a play on warmonger as well as the star trek reference with code nimoy. Oh and the spaceballs reference. That's a good one too.
12:45 "Please don't cry, it makes my knees hurt." You know how old people say they get all achy when it's about to rain? That was a joke about her size.
When the president plays the first keys on his keyboard, it's a part of the tune of Spielberg's Encounters of the Fourth Kind, great movie! 15:37 It's also repeated in 16:14 with the actual encounter :)
Honestly, I love this movie. It's just so hilarious at times. The actors are all great, (Though Seth Rogen' B.O.B. can be a bit much at times,) I really feel Susan's struggle, and Dr. Cockroach and The Missing Link are a riot. And as great as the copy machine gag was, I can't be the only one who was super frustrated as a kid that we never learned why Gallaxhar destroyed his home planet.
Well I think insectosaurus is adorable either as a caterpillar or a butterfly and he looks so fluffy and soft when you said that look like the stuff of nightmares that was pretty harsh
I was too young to get the joke but when the general say “pls don’t cry it makes my knees hurt” some people have joint problems and they hurt when it rains (it happens to my mom) Ginormica is so big her tears count as rain. At least that’s how I got it.

the film started a franchise of sequels consisting of a short film, B.O.B.'s Big Break, two television specials, Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space and Night of the Living Carrots, and a television series on Nickelodeon.

While I'm only 11:30 min in, it makes me sad that they missed the joke about the General's name. General W.R. Monger. US Military, sounds about right every other decade lol
It was one of the few really top rate 3D effects movies done. It totally worked in theater. The General's name was brilliant . . . . W.R. Monger. Warmonger! Lol!The voice actors were killer. There was at least one short film after this, maybe 2.
The tale of Despereaux, Meet the Robinsons, Ratatouille, A bugs life, Bolt, Raya and the last dragon, Robin Hood, Tangled, Frozen Moana, The little Mermaid 2 are also some good animated movies
Oh if u don’t get that keyboard reference with the President trying to communicate with the robot, u have to watch close encounters of the third kind :)

First time I watched this, it was the 3D version on DVD. I suggest checking it out. Best 3D I have seen. It isn't just forward towards you, but above, below, and to the sides of the screen you see the 3D effects.

😂 I am so regretful that anytime I passed by this movie I thought "naah". This was so funny. That whole President sequence was hysterical. I just can't... 🤣. I would love it if alien contact made people Hulk-out with some sort of power. I wonder if it would be inner latent or just at random, ya know. Too fun. I love villains, their issues span all over the place, except Jack Horner, homeboy was just an ass 😁. I recommend: Smallfoot The missing link And Hoodwinked
That is a great Animation movie too. I Rember it a few weeks ago and than I wanted to watch it with my parents again to feel like a kid again. And also to see what I liked about this movie, did I still like it ? And what can I see in it that I forgot or missed as a kid or maybe what I see in it as an young adult(23).🙂 Like you guys do it for example.
12:45 Please don't cry, it makes my knees hurt. This is a joke about older people with arthritis. Joints can start hurting when it rains or high humidity, so her crying as a big woman is basically rain.
Fun Fact: Did you know that "Gallaxhar" was originally supposed to be a female in the original concept (The original name was meant to be "Galacticon". Plus there were MANY designs of her but one is only possible to be seen online), but the directors decided to settle with the male gender because when Susan gets captured after being broken-off by Derek, She'll know how to deal with a man. Also another fact: On the directors commentary, The scene where Gallaxhar burns his (ears?) from a hot drink and instantly spitting it out of his mouth was actually different at first during the animation segment. When Gallaxhar was drinking from his ears, He originally was meant to lower his cup (Out of screen view) and spit out the drink out there, but when the directors re-watched that scene, they thought "Yeah, lets not do that" and the scene got changed.

Owls of Ga'Hoole is great! You'll love it. I also would recommend Mune: Guardian of the Moon. Its a great but unknown French animated movie. (It's available in English.) ooh, the series of movies from the Irish animation studio, Cartoon Saloon... The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and Wolfwalkers. They have a very interesting and beautiful animation style.
I’m not positive if it’s the correct reference but W.R. Monger always reminds me of Major King Kong from Dr. Strangelove. He has a somewhat similar voice, attitude towards war, and flair for the dramatic. He even ties on headband similar to how Mgr. Kong put on his cowboy hat

One of my favorite Dreamworks movies from my childhood I also own the video game as well. The cast is just awesome as well! The jokes get me as well.
14:21 - they switching the stereotypical behavior between teen boy and girl in an horror movie! :) Good little bit of fun.
Uhhh Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is seriously slept on. Please check it out. I love that film beautiful animation, awesome story and voice acting.
One of my favorite animated films.
I can get this
While I'm only 11:30 min in, it makes me sad that they missed the joke about the General's name.
General W.R. Monger. US Military, sounds about right every other decade lol
Seth rogen as B.O.B is perfect😂😂
I still remember this amazing movie!! 🔥🔥🔥
Same
It was one of the few really top rate 3D effects movies done. It totally worked in theater. The General's name was brilliant . . . . W.R. Monger. Warmonger! Lol!The voice actors were killer. There was at least one short film after this, maybe 2.
47:20 I wish you guys called attention to this shot, I always liked how you could see Susan fly past Galaxar’s eyes from right to left as he’s talking
The tale of Despereaux, Meet the Robinsons, Ratatouille, A bugs life, Bolt, Raya and the last dragon, Robin Hood, Tangled, Frozen Moana, The little Mermaid 2 are also some good animated movies
I saw this movie in theaters and I swear for the longest time I thought it was some weird dream I had lol
Oh if u don’t get that keyboard reference with the President trying to communicate with the robot, u have to watch close encounters of the third kind :)
If you couldn't tell the piano reference in this movie, the reference is Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
This is my fav dreamworks movie ever
Nice touch that the general is called W.R. Monger.
When I was little, my mom bought a bootleg version of this movie that was in Spanish and it is absolutely hilarious. A lot of DreamWorks movies like the Shrek movies, Shark Tale & Monsters V. Aliens are so much better in Spanish. I hope you guys react to Shark Tale and/or Storks sometime.
Is there a Japanese dub? I've tried search but can't get a clear answer.
Samee, the way they say somd dialogues just add more sparkle to this kind of movies jsjsjjs
First time I watched this, it was the 3D version on DVD. I suggest checking it out. Best 3D I have seen. It isn't just forward towards you, but above, below, and to the sides of the screen you see the 3D effects.
This movie is so underrated
If anyone want to know how she would continue living like this, in tw series (Yea there is a series) she figured a way to go back and forth between normal size and ginormous
Thanks for another fun reaction guys!
Just what I needed on this Monday evening! 🌻💛🌻
I recommend: Smallfoot
The missing link
And Hoodwinked
That is a great Animation movie too. I Rember it a few weeks ago and than I wanted to watch it with my parents again to feel like a kid again.
And also to see what I liked about this movie, did I still like it ? And what can I see in it that I forgot or missed as a kid or maybe what I see in it as an young adult(23).🙂 Like you guys do it for example.
gahoole was a book and movie i had as a child, it's pretty good and pretty nostalgic for me, been forever since I've seen it.
12:45 Please don't cry, it makes my knees hurt. This is a joke about older people with arthritis. Joints can start hurting when it rains or high humidity, so her crying as a big woman is basically rain.
14:20 why does that look like the couple from the bee movie lmao I just noticed that and this movie used to be my favorite movie!😂
Omg Im so excited to watch this this was my entire childhood movie!
It has been a while since I have watched one of your videos since you since you mostly are reacting to horror and I hate horror lol. How are you guys doing? How has life been treating you? I'm looking forward to this video and many more. Also have you guys considered reacting to a movie called The crow (starring Brandon Lee)? it is one of my favourites of all time and definately worth a watch.
my son had a bunch of mcdonalds toys of this movie when he was little. I've watched over n over with him.
i need to say this , i cant handle this anymore ..... NOBU PLEASEEEEE MARRYYYYYY MEEEEEEEEEEE
They have a very interesting and beautiful animation style.
this was my first ever 3D film. ALSO my first ever Seth Rogen, which is cool cause I've seen all his stuff now . Y'all should do a Seth Rogen run
This was a fun film I loved it when I first saw it. MVA had its own series too I just wish it would have made a bigger splash
I wish this movie could have a sequel. It’s just a lot of fun. The writing and visuals are expertly handled too!
music keyboard is from Close encounters of the third kind. Where a alien ship would try to communicate using sounds.
Omg yes!!! I love this movie so much
Bro I remember being OBSESSED w the computer game version of this as a kid, the B.O.B. Section w going through the facility was fire
I would have loved a second film monsters Vs monsters
Or monsters vs freaks etc.
