Just a future FYI. Wager Gun Works is well respected in the CZ community for their slide cuts. 7 day turnaround time nearly guaranteed everytime. Their work is amazing and people in the community and the cz sub on Reddit can’t praise them enough. I also like Cajun for their trigger jobs though. Can’t beat them.
I've heard a lot of good things about Wager. I love CZ pistol parts and put them in all my CZ's. Its a shame their optic milling service didn't match that quality.
I have had several CZ optics milled by Primary Machine. The slides have always come back perfectly cerakoted and the optics fit perfectly as well. Great customer service and a excellent product. Could not recommend them more. I had one CZ slide done by Jagerwerks because Primary Machine didn't offer the optic cut I wanted at the time. They nitrided the slide and cut it for a 509T. They also offered great service and the slide came back perfect. Just wanted to recognize those 2 companies as great alternatives.
Love your videos! As a machinist, I can tell you that there's no excuse for not checking new threads with a thread plug gage or at least a friggin' screw. That was some shameful machine work. I was considering having CGW optic mill a P-01 for me, but no way now. Thank you for letting us know.
NCEngravers in Lexington, NC does excellent work. Mark milled my CZ P-01 and the job was perfect. $100 and you pay shipping. He also milled my Shadow 2 and my SP-01. Zero issues.
As a machine shop owner of more than 30 yrs, I would fire someone if they sent you your slide back with a rough finish and chips in holes. That shows that the person performing the machining doesn't take pride in their work and that reflects bad on the company.
And since the work was done by a CNC machine, all the operator had to do was a few minutes of hand finishing work, clean the chips, and verify thread integrity/depth. Maybe ten minutes of actual work, other than sitting on a chair watching the CNC do all the actual machining.
I was almost gonna buy a canonized gun straight from them with optic cut… now I think I’ll just buy the gun and kit and install it myself and get it milled local. I had a local gunsmith mill my PCR. His first time doing a CZ, came out good. I’ll just go back to him.
I'm blown away that a professional operation does run a tap down their threads after taking it off the machine. Even if they were cut properly the shavings are also unacceptable and should have been removed. They would have caught your issue too.
Before this video, I thought direct mill is categorically better than plate if you don't plan to change optic. Now seeing that it requires precise milling of width and the 2 cylinders lock, I changed my mind. Great video for civilian gun owners!
Direct mill should be stronger in theory. Less bolted connections and fasteners. A properly done plate system wont have any issues tho either for most use cases. Either the direct milled footprint or plate should have a snug fit with the optic to transfer the recoil shear forces to the optic body and recoil lugs, not the screws. Screws are designed for axial loading, not shear.
I have experience with Cgw also. I sent a used excellent condition 75b compact to them and purchased a new 75b from them both sa. I asked for the pro pkg on both along with barrel crown and their bushing to aid in accuracy. Also purchased meprolight hyperbright night sights and installation. Turn around on both was better than expected. Trigger pull between the two was vastly different. Compact had a pretty heavy pull when I bought used and now it is hair trigger. Without a guage I estimate 2.0 lb. Full size seems 3.5-4.0. Neither of the sights glow at all. They have agreed to replace them and it’s in the works now. To remove the barrel from the full size takes much effort to push up from under the slide so that the barrel is heavily contacting the bushing on the top rear and bottom front. Was told I might need to gently pry upwards and tap the end of the barrel which I did. Hopefully after much more rounds fired this will become easier. Every company has occasional problems and the mark of a good company is how they handle it. Honestly I’m on the fence about referring them
I’ve had Stonebridge Gunworks cut several guns, all turned out great and all back to me very quickly. Cajun did some cosmetic milling and barrel treatment on my P09 and it turned out well, the lead time and wait time does seem ridiculous though
Thanks for sharing your experience. I havent heard of Stonebridge. Yeah the wait list, then turn around time from CGW was lame, especially for the work to come back like this.
The metal shavings in the holes are annoying. As are the shallow holes. My experience with Cajun Works is similar; like, my firearm was vastly better but things were a little rough. I had a better experience with Langdon Tactical.
Recently had my P01 milled by Wager Machine Works. Shipped the slide and had it back within a week. I also sent my optic and they installed it at no extra charge. Total cost was $147 which included shipping. Couldn't be happier with the service and quality of work.
I am in the market to have my CZ 75 SP01 cut for a Holosun 507 comp. Nobody local wants/can do it. I was considering having CGW put a 1911 plate, but it's a tricky cut, on the CZ's thin slide. After seeing a few iffy feedbacks on CGW, I may limit my choice to CZ Custom's RDs plate, Impact Machine's RDOM system that directly mounts the site to the slide, or Primary machine's plate that has a back site to retain BUIS.
I bought a CZ-P07 from Cajun Gun Works. Had their Pro Trigger installed and milled for an RMR. I sent them the RMR. When I got it back first thing I noticed was the trigger was terrible. I have 2 Shadow2, a TS Orange, P09, and a P01. This trigger was noticeably worse than my P01. Called and talked to David. His response was ship it back and we will lighten the trigger, not what I wanted to hear. I Tried to fit a Holosun sight, supposed to have the same footprint, but would not fit. I noticed I only had 1 turn of thread engaged on the sight. I contacted David and he sent me the correct length screws. But seeing your video made me think. The dot on my RMR is in the top half of the glass, noticeably higher than center. I'm thinking that might be because it was machined on an angle. I plan on sending my P01 to Primary Machine to be milled for an optic.
Yikes dude! What a mess. Based on seeing the machine work they did on my pistols I wouldn't trust them to touch my gun any more period. No trigger install no nothing. Luckily I can do the trigger jobs myself on these pistols.
It looks like they cut your slide for an RMR instead of the 508T. While the 2 optics do share the same mounting footprint as far as the fastener locations are concerned, the 508T is slightly smaller.
Could very well be the case. Of course, I specified holosun 508T, and based on the quality of their machining in general I am not sure that I would have gotten a good fit with any optic. The mounting screws and recoil lugs are in the same place on the RMR and 508T, only the external dimensions are different - meaning the fit between the fences would be different. This one is so loose I know an RMR would be loose in it too. I tried - I put an RMR in there and it was still loose as shit. Due to the fences and also the recoil lug size and shape. Overall shoddy workmanship.
If I'm going to have a slide cut for optics, I'd prefer it be anything other than my original slide. The fact that it's difficult/nigh-impossible to get a second slide for the P-01 makes me extremely reluctant to trust *any* service to cut it right.
From what I see Cajun Gun Works is really busy and can't keep up so when that happens with a company the quality suffers. I see it all the time with other companies as well. I worked in the production business 26 years and seen it there as well when they got busy and couldn't keep up.
Totally agree. I am a mechanical engineer and in addition to my design work I support manufacturing and production activities. When a company gets really busy, they bring on new people but dont have the bandwidth to properly train them because the experienced ones are tied up in work.

Can i ask what the actual measurements were for front/rear cut depths, going to be milling my SP 01 for 407k but hard to find any info on depth, milling out rear sight to use 407 notch but want to know the ballpark
The front depth is roughly .180" and the rear is roughly .150". Im still not convinced it needs to be angle forward like that. CGW told me that needs done for getting enough elevation adjustment. When I took it to the range I was hitting 1 ft high at 15 yards. I think if it was milled flat it would be fine. More than enough elevation adjustment on most optics.
Not in the ballpark, I'm dead on, thank you much, there's 1.4 degree difference between rear to front sights on some models, (CZ forums are a wasteland) from what I could gather has to do with .550 barrels and the bushing, ?
You are correct about angle of cut being excessive, .078in difference in 6inches front to rear, the trig comes out to around .0185-.0250(ish) more accurate numbers when I vise and indicate it, first 75 I've done and it's my favorite pistol
@silencedOak Yeah it may be necessary for most dots. Based on the depth of the front and rear of the cut it ended up being around 1.5 degrees. Seems a bit excesive. Somewhere between 0.5-1.0 degrees would make more sense. I am basing that off that fact that when I went ot zero my dot I had to bring the elevation way up. I was hitting like 1 ft high at 15 yards. I respecfully disagree. You're certainly entitled to your opinion and your own interpretation of this video. I would like to add my perspective regarding what you have commented , the content of this video, and the intent behind it. I feel I was fair to the company by allowing them to respond to my complaints about the quality of their work. They handled it very well. I was pleased with their customer service and communicated that in the video multiple times. I made sure to contact the company first, make my concerns clear, allow them to respond, then made my decision about how I wanted to proceed. Only after that did I make this video and include that information. I struggle to see how this video is "self-serving." I am not promoting my own optic milling service or the services of any company that I am affiliated with. I suppose I got some good recommendations in the comments of other companies that may offer higher quality machining work for my future reference. I do not monitize my videos nor make any money off them in any way. I am not trying to increase clicks or views with some senational or fabricated story of my experience to pad my pockets. I tried to present my experience as objectively as possible. I know bad news draws more attention in general, but I have also posted very positive optic milling service review videos. This video is a review of a service provided. Customer feedback and reviews are an integral part of consumerism. I am sharing my experience with this expensive and time intensive milling service so that it may help others decide if this service is right for them and a good use of their hard earned money. This is just like any other review of goods or services (as I see it). I would not expect or encourage anyone to base their opinion of a company on one review from one person's limited experience. However, if someone watches my video, then sees comments of people sharing a similar experience, and does more research on the company, maybe there is a pattern. I think of this video as a single data point in the larger body of reviews that come together to make an overall rating of a product or service. Thanks for watching and commenting. Your mind is likely made up about this video and thats fine. This reply probably didn't change your mind either, but I appreciate you taking the time to read this if you did.

watch starting at 1:45...
@@EngineersArmory i missed that part. thanks.
Lol...110 $ in shipping and almost 75 days lol...
I'd hope for 320$ for 22 mins tops by a robot machine you get sights and 160$ for work that looks like someone with a grinder did them? Im truthfully blown away this is what ppl are raving about ..had 7-8 guns cut buy just cheaper services and was 2 weeks and looked way better ..SMH ..sad stuff man , thank god you won't see under the optics
yeah... pretty ridiculous.
@@sleigh4019 Ive always liked the parts I've bought from them. And I always heard like "oh yeah they are the CZ people, if you need work done on your CZ, send it to CGW." So thats why I waited and paid this much and it turned out to be dog shit work. So dissapointing. These were the first slides I ever sent off for machine work too so I wasn't really aware of all the other good services out there. I suppose I could have done more research but I was thinking "I'll wait a little longer and pay a little more to support this company that I like to buy parts from and will undoubtedly do great work based on their reputation."
Way too long! 5 business days max with wager!
100% ..I think the most was 14 total when I shipped them and got them back ..and did it look like A man did it with a grinder
Lol..no cost to you ? You spent over 550$ for what looked like A crazed tweaker went to work on your nice CZ guns with a drummel
The EPS cut looks like a dog chewed on it hahaha. yeah this just sucked in pretty much every way possible.
EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE FINISH THE JOB EVEN BEFORE THEY START / They only have so much time per job so it a rush and not quality work , but that's the norm these days // i would of bought a new pistol with the slide cut from factory before i would of spent that much on it ??
Sounds like a ripoff. I stay with the stock sights
man, we're a soft, complain first society..then make a video. umg, let's get clicks while not putting someone on blast but putting someone on blast.. i get it being unhappy but jeez guy, seems like this is just self-serving.
I found this video very helpful.....You looking to feel good about yourself by punking on someone else.... @EngineersArmory is adding value. You? Not at all.
I had an issue with some parts that were not received. They claim they were shipped but according to tracking info the parts are still in one location waiting to be picked up by shipper. 3weeks later it’s still waiting to be picked up. I called customer service a few times to tell them my order is still waiting to be picked up. I eventually received my order 5 weeks later. And my account was suspended I don’t know why. It’s been 6 years now. Still suspended. Oh well I just get my parts from Cz customs or czusa. You are not alone
Thats a bummer. Thanks for sharing your experience. I have ordered CGW parts for all my CZ pistols and never had an issue like that luckily!
