Also, don't know if you have done this but, could you do a video on the concept of regional variants in Pokemon and it's lore? Cause the way it is talked about in games and stuff was obviously vastly different than how it worked in games at the start what with it sounding in game like it took generations for the variants to come about but, then some recent variants have dex entries that make it sound like just send the Pokemon to the region in question and poof regional variant. It's really weird to me cause the initial concept was cool and I understood the programmers were just too lazy to properly program it in game to work the way it was supposed to but, now it seems like they are backtracking/retconning that which I don't like.
I love it when you branch out of Pokémon to explain origns of other franchises! Perhaps "Every Pikmin Enemy/Boss" explained? 👀

Houndos is likely referring to Orthos, a TWO headed dog also of greek myth that guarded Geryon’s Cattle from Herakles.
The Purgy line might also reference Purgatory as an aspect of death.
Why does Cerberus get all the love? Orthros is a lovable puppy as well, but everyone loved the 3 headed dog

i think it's just hound dos (dos is Spanish for 2. i.e. the 2 heads)
This game is just... So charming aghhh!! I absolutely love the style, there's so much thought put into the name, and I can really see how the creators poured their love for Pokemon into this project!! @Logan McGlynn yeah, but the devs do try to change a lot of the things that the community does not like but they unfortunately have not changed the attack animations to be faster
Honestly agree, barely knew about this game before this video but these are really creative monsters definitely gonna check it out

The problem is that it's a monster catching game with mon in it i hope he dosen't end up like Digimon
It gets labelled as a Pokémon clone, despite being quite different.
As a turkish speaker, scorpion is just akrep. Akrep burcu means the horoscope scorpio, not the animal itself.

A pet peeve that I have with the designs is that all of them look...cool.
They all fall down into the "cool" category. There are not enough cute, silly or pretty looking Coromon.
Other than that, the game is pretty good.

Thats a plus for me, i always disliked pokemon that are silly or cute in the final evolution (I'm indifferent about the pretty ones), it's the whole reason i disliked temtem
To me a lot of them feel like the whole "mon just gets bigger" trope
"Sai" is also Japanese for "disaster" or in some places "rhinocerous" which could explain Hozai's horns
I couldn't get into the demo, but gosh, the spritework is beautiful!
I feel like Coromon does monster design the best out of all of the indie Monster Collector games. I can actually understand their origins and they make sense.
I fell in love with this game as soon as I started playing it, took me back to some of the old school pokemon games. I was so happy to see you did a video on it.
I am 15 seconds into the video and I've already bought the game.
I played through the entirety of the Coromon demo and then through the final release, and I absolutely loved it! It’s amazing to see that one of my favourite youtubers talk about it
Having really fun with Coromon so far. My fave is Mino cause it has an ability that boosts its attacking stats after every knockout like Moxie
Megalobite is just epic. I must admit, I really like some designs more than the average Pokemon. There are quite a few blobs in Coromon, but Grimmask and Orotchy are just epic in my opinion. Dugterra has to be my favorite so far.

Would you review Palworld? I think hybrid creatures through breeding seems interesting, and if Pokemon would implement this element in future games.

This is just makes me wish gamefreak stayed with gen 5's pixelated animatiated sprites. I just think it fits Pokemon way more than what we have now..
With Legends Arceus existing, I don't think I want to go back to animated sprites. I agree that they are charming and have life. But with Legends:
-The 3D models have more life compared to past 3D mainline Pokemon games
- 3D gave us the chance to see Pokemon act in different ways on the overworld and allowed us the catch them without battles. I think those would be hard to implement in a pixel based game.
@@adrianleonce455 I don't think the 3D models have much life to them, not yet, plenty still have really plain or boring anmations..I wish they'd do what the 2D sprites did with a secondary idle animation playing every now of then of the pokemon either playing, getting ready for battle, or little ear twitches or something! Anything but blankly standing or flying in place there..The animation need revamped and have a little more life put into them!

I love the more pixelated vibe the general design has! However, the Mons have a very edgy look to them that I am still on the fence about. Its either they have defined musculature or they just... be blobs 😅
Yeah, they all kinda evolve into something cool. Theres nothing that stays cute or weird, like pokemon has a good balance of different vibes but these are all cool. I still like them but yknow
Yeah its too npc-monster-looking than the usual more animal-looking pokemon style
there are no coromons that dont evolve and thats my only problem with the game

The sprites look kind of like they're pre-rendered 3D in some places. Really well animated
Another thing for the lunar wolf line, is that in norse mythology both the sun and more importantly moon dieties are being chased by wolves, so that could be some part of it's design
You should try Nexomon and Evocreo
Nexomon had the legendary dog as their god of pokemon before Pokekon gen 8

2:07 It's also Sil as in silver, hence the silver beak that slowly turns into the golden beak of Golbeak.
There's quite a few cool ones (loving the ghost cat) but this roster seems half slimes and half octopi. Not that that's bad, just kinda funny they have so many different takes on the same base concept

I love those "mon like games explained" videos. They are really inreasting.
You could explain the meaning of Warframe names like "Nekros" which is greek for "dead Body" and is connected to aegyptian pharao's, who are also (in ancient greek) reffered to "nekros". Might be a nice idea.
How about a video explaining all the Yokai from Yokai Watch? I know the series has a buzzard history but the yokai have uh… unique personalities.
I really hope he does them. The 'merican yo-kai should be pretty easy.

Yes but the evolution is likely cerberus as it has 3 heads. He probably just didn't know about orthrus.

This is my favourite game when I first saw it in play store I thought is just another nice little Pokémon inspired game but my god is soo good! I have so much fun playing the demo and I can't wait for more I strongly recommend in my opinion^^

I had SO much fun with Coromon, I played the demo, played through the full release, did a LOT of perfect hunting, and I really had a blast! It really fills the hole that Pokemon has generally left me with for the past several years! Would recommend it to anyone wanting to recapture that original Pokemon spark!
I also wanted to specifically mention the visuals, the sprites, the backgrounds, the overworld, I love it all so much! It's all so beautifully animated and brightly colored, I love all the personality in each of their animations!
So happy you're doing a video on this game! I think they did such an awesome job on the monster sprites , so it getting recognition for it is great!

I'm impressed with the level of creativity with the monster designs in Coromon. I was expecting something more along the lines of just slapping an element type on an animal and calling it a day. I might check it out someday.

Downloaded for the switch yesterday and been loving it! I really dig the art style, it kinda feels like a gen 3 Pokémon game but with so much more. Thanks for the vid!
Coromon is great! The battle sprites out beyond outstanding, the world is fun, and you can tell the developers were giving it their all and super passionate about the game from beginning to end. I would recommend it to anyone who likes mon games. Coromon even comes with difficulty levels you can select, even a Nuzlock mode! The only thing I don't like are the human overworld sprites (everything else is so detailed and then the humans are just... blobs. Except for their rockin' hair). I'm super diggin' this trend of quality Pokemon clones, what with this, Nexomon, and even Monster Crown. (Haven't tried Temtem because the price is super steep.)

I definitely love how cute Purrgy is.
My purrghast was a monster with that ghost needle move (forgot the name of the attack) the one that basically is a moxie effect if you ko an enemy with it.
Also the cat scratch attack is busted on mons weak to cut (mostly electric) since the percentage based damage is multiplied if its super effective.
I also love the story aspect where instead of you being a 10 year old child sent off to the wilds, you're an adult doing research lol
That Malavite is a pretty interesting one. I can see the "Mala" part of it's name also coming from the word "Malleable" since he kinda looks goopy and easy to move around like a kind of unfinished clay golem but with sand instead of clay. It could also come from the other definition of Malleable, being easily influenced, as it has this blank expression that could imply it's easy to change it's emotions or "mood."
Really interesting designs and great pixelart, probably going to have to pick it up sometime.
I was expecting these to be basic in design and naming compared to Pokemon, but no, these are just as amazing as Pokemon, holy crap.
Is anyone going to talk about how good this music is? Off-topic, but it's really nice.
Now back on-topic: ok now I wanna play this game suddenly, and maybe one day I'll try to have a Pokémon-like game made. I love the series, and I feel like seeing the end result after putting in all the work would be really nice... And I'll know how Lockstin felt😂

Hi, I love how you did the pokemon explained and why they are and should not be a certain type. It's just So INTERESTING. Since you are going out and explaining different monster games and what each of their types are I would like to suggest that you explain each monster in My Singing Monsters and why they are their element combo's mean.
I love it when creators put effort into naming their monsters. Subtly, viewers get the message they are trying to send.

I have to say, I am in love with Grimmask’s design.
Felt important to explain that Bren doesn't actually evolve into Pyrochick nor Infinix. It's actually related to the later inspiration to phoenix and their Rebirth trait. Trait being the Coromon equivalent of Ability. Rebirth transform infinix or pyrochick into bren when it get K.O. then it "revived" after 3 battle. (They kept their level)
