Pokemon Diamond and Pearl added 28 new Pokemon that were evolutions or pre-evolutions to already existing Pokemon, and this was before regional variants were a thing! So why did they add so many of these? Was there just 1 reason or were there quite a few different reasons? Obviously the latter, so let's discuss.

How soon will you do a theory about the new/branch evolutions in PLA? Have you considered going to new tech like Odysee or Rumble?
@@Main_account_at it’s a rayquaza

I think Galade exists entirely because of the physical/special split. I mean think about it, what pokemon demonstrates that you can now have physical psychic moves better than Galade?

1:14 well, technically they still did cross gen evolutions in Gen 6, when they introduced Sylveon. but yeah that's about it for post-Gen 4 cross gen evolutions
At least until Legends Arceus that is, with the Stantler, Scyther and a few other lines.
you could also add in the regional evolutions (Obstagoon, Perrserker, Cursola, Sirfetch'd, Mr. Rime, Ruinerigus, Overqwil, Sneasler)
hell, Kleavor, Ursaluna, Wyrdeer, and Basculegion all evolve from their regular pre-evos (except maybe Basculegion who evolves from the White-Striped Basculin, which is not a regional variant since the red and blue ones still existed then)
@@goGothitaLOL and guess which reigon its happening in again?
I'd add Mega Evolution, I think they wanted to break the schemes of classic cross gen evos, game freak is no stranger to breaking their own conventions like the third version with black 2 and white 2.
Creatively, I think that enabled them to unleash their creativity past the schemes of the 3 stages or not being a legendary Pokémon to evolve in a cool new form
@@Geostelar4920 that was the interesting thing about it though hopefully they change the evolution methods a bit for them going forward.
Like Stantler just knowing the move, Ursaring knowing Dig(since its ground type and that how you'd find the item anyways), Scyther could hold the hard stone, Basculin WS just needs a recoil move. Sneasler works as is and itd be cool if they just made a variant that evolves from the Johtonian Sneasel or just have both with the explanation being where they are in the region being the reason for it.
A baby Pokémon I'd like to see them add is a calf Pokémon that evolves into Tauros or Miltank depending on gender, firmly and officially linking the two Pokémon.
They can go further and make the baby calf evolve to bouffalant too. Its like tyrouge having 3 evolutions.

I like that they made Rowan the Professor that studies evolution. Really helps tie together all the new evolutions
Also, Team Galactic using the energy released when a Pokémon evolves
I heard that Professor Rowan was an older man since Gen 4 had a lot of previous Pokémon getting new final evolutions, and fully evolved Pokémon are technically older than the were as first or middle-stage Pokémon, while Professor Elm represents the baby Pokémon added to Gen 2 since he's a younger professor.
Dunsparce needs an evolution. It is pretty much forgotten about and a lot of people thought that it would evolve into Drampa.
I was hoping Hisui would fix that
It didn’t
@@ksoundkaiju9256 rt if u cri evertim ;-;
I wouldn't say forgotten since it's now the go to mon for people to say "please give it an evolution" after Farfetch'd got some love in Galar. Definitely deserves one though.
Conceptually, Dunsparce is complete. That is why it never got an evolution.
When it comes to stats, then yes. Dunsparce could benefit from a base stat increase.
Dunsparce and maractus
I'd like to see a few more pokemon get another evolution. Getting Ursaluna was a wonderful addition, for me at least. Not a lot changed from Ursaring but so far none of the bear pokemon felt "mighty," at least to the extent that they didn't present as any stronger than Kangaskhan. Getting this massive bear that's clearly built to be a tank has been awesome and I'd like to see other 2-evo pokemon that are alright get a third that let's the whole line be more competitive.
@@Rothen0303 i think it’s rad, let’s not rain on people’s parades, k?

@@Magic_Ice see, aside from getting some cool 3rd evo pokemon, that's what I'm talking about. You get these really strong pokemon, but even the previous evolutions can run eviolite, which can potentially make 2 pokemon competitive with 1 new addition.
I'd love to see a Pokemon generation with an added middle stage in a line.
Would be weird to implement tho.
Same but that would break the dex and logic for some Pokémon
Yeah, adding a random middle evolution to a 2 stage pokemon line would just make the Evolution methods janky and might make some pokemon worse if eviolite was involved
That could work with Luvdisc and Alomomola.
@@jackkahler2116 Here's counter arguements with that: Stat Distribution & Abilities
They're soo complete different with those 2 things, slapping a middle evolution into it would make Luvdisc way more useless
I love the huge boost in usefulness Sneasel got in Gen 4, due to the special/physical split fixing its moveset and both Weavile and the Eviolite giving it an extra bit of sturdiness.
Eviolite didn’t exist in gen 4 so Sneasel really only became super useful in gen 5
@@ghosttown9539 Really? Huh. I was certain it was Gen 4.
the funny part about dusknoir is that it made eviolite dusclops a thing which made dusclops from trash to actually better than dusknoir due to eviolite shenanigans
Funny how a similar thing happened to Cursola/Corsola (but ofc Cursola has great offensive presence)
That's why I don't like Dusclops,It completely overshadows my boi Dusknoir despite the latter being evolution and thus being supposed to be stronger
@@idosomethingiguess3680 Understandable, though that's still Game Freak's fault for making Dusknoir's evolved stats (and ability) so underwhelming in the first place. It wasn't even that good in Gen 4 (despite being listed as OU) *before* Evolite existed, which really just added insult to injury. A shame.
@@MusicoftheDamned Dusclops is supposed to be a Bulk pokemon but it has no HP and when it evolves into Dusknoir gains 5 useless special attack points and 20 useless speed points that could be shifted to make 70 HP points instead of the horrible 45 and give Dusknoir true bulk, if that is not enough then shifting 5 additional speed points to HP and adding 10 HP to make 85 HP.
The speed loss could even be beneficial since Dusclops is known as a Trick room setter.
@@infinitecriativity1588 Yes, I am aware (especially since I saw you comment this in another thread on this video), but thank you. Honestly, Dusknoir's non-HP stats are fine-ish, especially since most Ghosts don't even break 70 base HP, even if I agree said stats could of course be better distributed.
As such, I would argue it has always had three bigger problems even before Eviolite was made the next gen to make it even more laughable:
1. Its singular regular ability, Pressure, is meant more for defensive mons or at least mons with more reliable recovery, which means Dusknoir has no ability basically when it comes to its offense. Getting Frisk as its hidden ability did nothing to help this, even if I think that Frisk is underrated as an ability overall--just nothing great has it.
2. Said offense is rather undermined by Ghost arguably being the worst physically attacking type in the game (until they added Fairy at least), with rather weak generic one-turn physical moves until they added Poltergeist just in Gen 8. And even Poltergeist is conditional and inaccurate.
3. Outside of its rather wack STAB issues, Dusknoir also has pretty underwhelming coverage outside of Earthquake since its strongest non-STAB reliable physical moves after Earthquake are *all* 75 BP at strongest outside of the redundant Darkest Lariat in Gen 8 and random Normal moves. That's rather sad.
When you factor in that Burn status and Intimdate run rampant in most tiers alongside Knock Off and (previously) Pursuit being on almost every team, it was always a bit doomed from the start even before a bunch of power creep *and* Eviolite happened literally next gen. Without bonkers stats and/or ability to back it up, being a physical Ghost with no secondary STAB is already going to be suffering even before the lack of an offensive ability (even crappy Iron Fist would have helped it), terrible speed, *and* bulk that's utterly undermined by terrible HP with no reliable recovery. Even just giving it Drain Punch would go a decent way towards make it less terrible.
You forgot about Togekiss. I swear there isn’t much love about these little Egg pokemons in the social media
Exactly! I was waiting for Togekiss but there was not even a mention about it.
@@tompillai togekiss is since it exists part of the doubles meta saying it doesnt get love is ignorant af
Togekiss and their entire line are my favorite pokemon out there. They're are so underrated and yet precious. I kept waiting for them to show up because I love when he talls about mons.
@@shaymarie9870 it was literally often the most used pokemon of them all its not underrated at all
It's especially weird since he kept saying there were 29, with on-screen corrections saying 28. But then Togekiss is missing from the group of 28 pictures they showed, meaning there actually were 29 all along! They corrected the wrong side of the mistake! Even weirder is the fact that the whole false correction thing could've been a funny joke if Ambipom had been the one missing from the group of images, given the note at the very end.
I still think it's a shame we never got that Meowth pre-evo, Konya, from beta Johto. I wonder if they ditched it because the anime specifically shown Team Rocket Meowth as a baby.
The anime also showed baby pikachu and they still made pichu.
They showed baby Nidoking and baby Rhydon in one Gen 1 anime episode. I think adding a pre-evolution for Meowth wouldn't be too much of an issue
I'm so glad cross-gen evolutions returned in Legends Arceus. I love Regional Variants and Eevee but let's be honest unless it's a new type we're probably not getting any more Eeveelutions and Regional Variants for the most part stop mattering in the next game. I'm glad that (theoretically atleast) Wyrdeer, Ursaluna, Kleavor and possibly Basculegion are all here to stay instead of getting cucked out of an evolution like Farfetch'd.
Basculegion's weird.
It is, but only for a new form of Basculin. And it's not an Hisuian Basculin, just a new variant of the original.
YES I AGREE
Considering they're based on ancient extinct species, don't hold out too much hope. Who knows, maybe they can reintroduce them as revivable Pokemon like fossils, or you're given the old Pokeballs like in that one ad with Basculegion
@@codytoeung5089 well fossil pokemons not being actually extinct is a common trop in the anime... and it SHOULD be more used in game IMO. But just living only in some very secluded, and hard to reach areas. The same logic could be applied to Hisui variants.
Also I think that eeveelution not only could, but SHOULD be at. After all, we have yet 10 types to cover. And honestly I think they should retroactively add a dragon type eeveelution to Hoenn (as it it the only Japan-based region (which also - according to anime - are all the same country) and Dragon was the only remaining special type (I mean before split))
yoooooo! finally someone else who's mad at galarian farfetch'd!
It also really bugged me how a lot of the final evos gen 4 added weren't even in the main game of d/p, only available in the aftergame. It just made them feel so... tacked on. Especially with how many of the evos were item related; I mean, more unique item related evos are interesting... but it's just really tedious when it's only in the aftergame, just basically a huge backtracking memory game. It's also just really obscure if you don't look it up since they never seem to put even npcs that could hint at the evo items' use
Agree. So stupid.
good thing Platinum fixed that
@@goGothitaLOL Pretty bad that they had to make a entire new game to do that
DP had weird issues like the dex and type diversity. Fire types like Magmortar weren’t available until post-game. Ironically the regional dex was equal to Kanto’s roster, 151. Which was lower than RSE’s amount of 202.
I’ve always found the lack of in game description on some of those evo methods just head scratching. Yea, pokemons a game for kids with some of the most obscure never explained or hinted at mechanics. And to top it off Gen 4 continued the trend of “let’s have new mons but never let anyone in game use them.” Truly stupid.
they need to do this again. It's all very well having regional variants with evolutions, but that means the original version of the mon is still screwed.
Agree.
They did do it again, in the game that literally just came out.
Yeah. Could you imagine a Kantonian Sirfetch'd but adopting a more sleek and light appearance, like that of a wandering mercenary? Sacrificing some points in Defense and put more into Speed, and maybe a few points of Attack into Special Defense.
Obviously something like Cursola or Mr. Rime can't be translated quite as well, but Corsola and Mr. Mime deserved evolutions anyway. Just make Corsola a whole reef, call them "Cursoland" or something; while Mr. Mime becomes more of a wizard-esque Pokemon with magic revolving around mirrors. (Still gotta keep the clown and mime aspects though, because it ain't Mr. Mime without 'em.) You could call him something like...uh..."Mimagus" or whatever
@@Articfoxgamez Yeah, for example Wyrdeer is a permanent evolution for Stantler because there are no Hisuian Stantler.
@@Articfoxgamez For Stantler, sure. No one else really tbh.
4:47 What ever _did_ happen to the baby forms for paras and meowth? Imagine Team Rocket Meowth meeting the baby form, would his normally callous demeanor melt away in a fraternal affection towards it?
Imagine meowth cooing over its unevolved form only for the unevolved form to say it resolves not to evolve into a meowth, just as meowth resolved not to evolve into a persian.
@@jaschabull2365 That would actually be pretty deep. Fits Meowth.
the thing about paraspor is that paras is already extremely weak
Another quirk with the evolutions:
The one's who evolve through learning Ancient Power become "ancient" or prehistoric versions or themselves.
Yanma becomes a huge dragonfly that roamed the early jungles billions of years ago.
Piloswine becomes a Mammoth, self-explanatory.
And Tangela, you could argue, becomes much more primal in a sense, as in being "hairier" and also possibly alluding to the denser forests that were around back then.
I actually really didn't mind the baby Pokemon in gen 4 (exept maybe Chingling). I think they're all well designed Pokemon and add to their line well. Especially Mime Jr. It's probably in my top 10 Sinnoh Pokemon.
Dusknoir was also really necessary for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky games where it was a major part of the story, and I don't think any other Pokemon could have filled his role.
Always thought of the gen 4 evolutions being a form those Pokémon had in the ancient past and being locked in their DNA, like Piloswine becoming a mammoth and Yanma becoming a meganeura.
You mean Yanmega?
@@ravio5868 Meganeura is an extinct species of giant dragonfly, which is what Yanmega is based on.

I want a falinks evolution, pre-evolution with one by themselves and maybe a post-evolution too
I imagine a post evolution for falinks being a voltron spartan knight where one of the falinks is the head and the body is made up of even more falinks.

Also I enjoy using Lickilicky in Platinum.
Tauros and Miltank should share a Normal typed baby calf pre-evolution that evolves into Tauros or Miltank depending on the gender.
@@cintronproductions9430 Add Bouffalant, and then it's perfect.
Oh god eviolite quagsire sounds unkillable
Please no, I fear what eviolite quagsire would bring upon the world. If a regional form without unaware got it, it would probably be fine though.
Skarmory not getting a pre-evolution always bothered me considering it was a counterpart of Mantine. Secondary Flying type, same stat values but distributed differently, as Skarmory was more physically inclined. Not to mention Mantine getting a 20 point boost to HP.
We finally got more cross generational evolutions from Legends Arceus though; Wyrdeer, Kleavor, Ursaluna. Et Al.
The downside to the Gen IV evolutions was how they were treated in HGSS despite most of them evolving from Pokemon that can be found in Johto. If they required an item to evolve, be it an evolutionary stone or holding said item while trading, it was locked into the post-game. If they required a location to evolve, like the magnetic field for Magnezone or the Moss and Ice Rocks for Leafeon and Glaceon, you had to trade from the Sinnoh games since the locations did not exist at all in HGSS. Meaning that your only options for Gen IV evolutions in HGSS prior to beating the League are the ones that evolve via level up with a specific move (Ambipom, Lickilicky, Yanmega, Tangrowth, and Mamoswine).
7:29 I used to think Torkoal evolved into Turtonator in Pokémon Moon (Turtonator is a S/US exclusive). Turtonator (224) was right after Torkoal (223) and in the Dex it said Location was unavailable, which I knew appeared for those you needed to evolve and couldn’t be caught in the wild. They are similar species and typing.
What a tease, I doubt that was a coincidence

The Irony of dusknoir being kinda bad, but making dusclops really good via eviolite is great.
congratulations, your comment was stole by a bot who got more replies and likes than the original
10:34 I think Dusknoir was made largely for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers games. I honestly can't think of another pokemon that would've fit the role better.
When you mentioned dusknoir the first thing I thought about was the one from the mystery dungeon explorers series. It seemed like a good Pokémon to be the villain so maybe that’s a reason why they added it
Budew : Roselia too strong for early game
Roserade: Roselia is too weak for late game
Roselia: And thats how I got replaced
Each stage of a three stage line is meant for a different point in the game. First stage is meant for the early game, middle stage is meant for the mid game, and the final stage mainly for the late game.
You talked about how many Pokémon don’t have evos, and then just look at all hours Lockemon without evos, you’ve got ALOT
Same. IMO some of them should have evolutions and/or pre evos, like Nomobjeka, Mosster, and more
I´m still surprised that Lickylicky gets that much hate. It may seem a bit weird at first glance but it also looks adorable in my opinion. And Rhyperior is a far better final stage evolution than Rhydon. I mean, there´s nothing bad with rhydon but it´s almost just a rhyhorn that walks on two legs. I like all the evolutions and pre-evolutions/baby pokemon that they introduced. I definitely think they make the evolution lines feel complete.
I still waiting for a pre-evolution for Onix and Tropius, because there´s no way a pokemon can come out of an egg with that size.

Is there a reason why Cranidos' cry plays in place of Magmortar? I assume it's just a mistake lmao
same with Abomasnow's cry in place of Weavile's

With all the new evolutions in Legends Arceus, i hope Gen 9 also has more of these
Let my boy Dunsparce evolve
Also, China sucks
I've actually been using a lot of this Pokemon lately. I used Honchkrow, Magnezone, Gallade, and Weavile in Brilliant Diamond and Yanmega and Leafeon in Legends Arceus and every single one of them did great and were very useful throughout my playthroughs
I think happiny, mime Jr, and bonsly were added to make their evolved forms easier to acquire without breeding
By adding Dusknoir you make Dusclops good.
Yup. Porygon2 like that.
Do you mean "dust bops"?
I saw someone suggest that Budew was made because Roselia was too strong for the early game.
I constantly forget that Gliscor and Weavile were added in gen 4. Those two, the most of anyone to me, fit the feel of gen 2.
I'd say Generation 8 regional variants are actual new evolutions, just for a different breed of the same Pokemon. Now especially, given that Legends Arceus came out and Ursaring literally just evolves into Ursaluna with no other strings attached.
Tbf the string is using a pest block on it while the moon is full
@@travahnadonis9725 To be equally fair, Roserade and the -Izer duo.
I pray for another gen 4 situation where we basically get a majority amount of new evos and preevos. I just love seeing my favourite Pokémon get a new spin that permanently changes how the line is perceived, this is why I am so thankful for legends arceus, now ursaring will always be seen as incomplete thanks to usraluna and I find that so cool.
Electivire was one of my favorite evolution added. Still one of my favorite pokemon from gen 4
The biggest head-scratcher to me is not why they added them, but why the vast majority of them aren't even in the regional dex. Why make you wait until post-game to see all these new things when the regional dex is very lacking as it is and could have definitely used the additions of all the Pokemon tied to these new evos? What about the people that only play the story?
Dp does have some wierd Pokemon but I still love it
Fun little trivia:
the evolution introduced in Gen 4 starting from Magnezone are organized by the last generation the most current member was introduced in.
So if the most current member was introduced in Gen 1 they'd all be grouped together and so on for Gen 3 and 4.
I Love new evolutions. Even more third stages.
Magnezone, magmortar, electvire, mamoswine, etc.
I swear the next gen needs an evo or pre evo for maractus

Close. In Legends: Arceus, that Mantyke was immediately ready to evolve upon being put in the party with a Remoraid. Although to be fair, it was level 34 or some such.
There actually are 29 pokemon, the one you forgot to talk about was Togekiss.

Rhyperior. He’s so ugly and Rhydon is already so perfect.
None. They're all great.
Man, everybody gets on Flygon's case for not being Bug/Dragon even though it's NOT A DRAGONFLY, and yet we're looking past Yanmega?
The green and red prehistoric beast with a reptilian look, who IS actually a dragonfly? How si that not worthy of Bug/Dragon?
I still adore Yanmega though, as an arthropod Stan I am obligated to. Accurate to its IRL basis while remaining a good and distinct creature design. I LOVE the tail wings, probably there to evoke a helicopter, as both dragonflies and helicopters can hover in place!
flygon should be a bug type since its line is literally based on insects
Flygon and vibrava are adult antlions
I just want a Bug/Dragon type man. I don't care who it is at this point. Those two types are begging to be mashed together.
Flygon’s typing makes sense considering it’s affiliated with the earth and is a dragon. It could be Bug/Dragon due to being based off of an Antlion but Ground/Dragon works.
I agree, it would really sell the menacing vibe Yanmega has. Plus, it would be unique. Bug/dragon would make Flygon worse but it would improve Yanmega's mediocre and too-common Bug/Flying.
Lickilicki: What is my purpose?
GameFreak: You're comedy relief.
Lickilicki: Oh, my Arceus...
The Pokemon that got evolutions really did need them other than Eevee as they were never used and pretty weak and forgettable. The babies didn't need to be added
TB, G4 really disappointed me in terms of design, and many of the new evolutions and baby pokes were not really to my liking.
It is a controversial take, but B&W was a lot better.
@@SergioLeonardoCornejo Some Pokemon with designs like that are Lickilicky and Rhyperior, which come into mind. I feel like some were overdesigned or stylized. Yet some worked like Gallade being cool and the two Eeveelutions from that Gen.
@@IgnitedQuils Yeah. Some did work, but as my sister said, Lickilicky and Mime Jr. were mistaken abominations created by a disturbed soul imprisoned in a pastel colored nightmare.
@@IgnitedQuils So I’ve always personally thought Gen 4 was overstylized and complicated, and then I read someone (can’t remember if it was Sugimori or Masuda) who said Gen 4 symbolized “complexity” and it was on purpose… still don’t like many of the designs but at least I know it was on purposed now… not sure if it helps any 😝
Since dusknoir has the same massive bulk as dusclops, the eviolite made dusclops tankier and thus it is used more in competitive and nuzlockes than dusknoir
Great JOb I love the dedication! An Enamorus history video would be cool too!
I wonder if instead of getting Physical type Eevees, we'll just get a different line for the Physical types.
gotta love when the youtube notifications on your phone cut the title off at "Why Pokemon Diamond & Pearl added MAN". Because we all know that humans didn't exist in the Pokemon universe until Sinnoh
When are you gonna be doing a video on all of the new Hisuian Form Pokémon?
I would love baby versions of Miltank, Tauros, and Seviper being added.
Imagine mega evolutions of them
@@omgate4729 Maybe, though I don't care for Mega/Primal/etc advanced evolutions. If they where true evolution forms not limited types time then maybe would be ok. Though I heard those things are painful to the Pokemon so that makes it extra Evil.
A little calf mon would be adorable. Should it be lanky or pudgy though?
@@NieroshaiTheSable Yes, it would be very adorable and I am thinking Stocky build.
Gen 4 gave extra evolutions to old Pokémon.
Gen 5 had a totally new dex so did nothing with old Pokémon.
Gen 6 gave Mega evolutions to old Pokémon.
Gen 7 gave regional variants to old Pokémon.
Gen 8 gave regional variants, regional evolutions, and dynamax forms to old Pokémon.
I think the reason they haven’t “revisited” the concept of adding evolutions is because they’ve kind of been doing it ever since. They never really stopped
Gen 8 has some few cross gen too thanks to L.A.
I thought evolutions were a big deal here because Rowan was studying Pokémon Evolution in particular, and Sinnoh was more about evolution than any Gen.
What about Togekiss?!
I love most of these Mon
The lore explanations for these are awesome, but also I just really like cross gen evolutions, adding more to existing Pokémon while also just being cool and new. MORE PLS.
Wait! People don't like Rhyperior that much? That's kinda sad to hear for me since Rhyperior is one of my favorite Pokemon
I'm really gonna miss regular evos and pre-evos. Regional ones are cool yes, but I think it would be cool to have standard Pokemon still get some awesome growth or adorable first stage to bring a line together.
Legends arceus had wyrdeer, kleaver and ursaluna are all evolution for the og ones
I would really be interested in a comparison/thoughts video of the modern characters vs legends ancestors by you. 😸
.... Rayquaza being chromakeyed out is hilarious XD
Love the sponsor wizard fairy telling us about that skillshare, thank you Sponor Wizard Fairy ur doing such a good job (also was that poor Rayquaza being used as a wand)
Yeah this is why I'd like to see more prevos and evolutions. Megas were a neat concept but it's just pushing a Pokemon beyond its limits and is temporary, and like you said I don't count the regional variants, even if Meowth has a new evo in one of its... that is until Stantler in Legends Arceus, and maybe some others, I'm not that far and wouldn't spoil anything even if I was, you'll just have to wait and see.
Pokemon that could use new evos... more Johto Pokemon come to mind right off the bat, Shuckle, Dunsparce, I could see Sudowoodo getting one especially since its prevo Bonsly's counter part Mime Jr got one in Galar, Girafarig though it would have to also have a palindrome name. I would've liked Heracross to get one, it's perfect as is but I think it could be even tougher and stronger looking, but then it got a mega... that may never show back up in the franchise again. Actually the biggest inspiration for this idea is a prevo for Tauros and Miltank, finally linking these 2 Pokemon together, they're in the same group, they should be linked together, and maybe a new evolution could be good for them too, but not as necessary as a prevo. Torkoal is another obvious one, Lockstin putting it there in the video made me sad, I love Torkoal... but yeah it could be better.
Day 12 of asking lockstin to make a torterra for every type!
@Raisyya⭐💫 your lack or torterra is disgusting
I really like the baby Pokemon. It’s so hard to think that Pokemon like Snorlax, Mr. Mine, and Mantine can simply hatch out of an egg. They already look full-grown. That’s why I think these baby Pokemon exist.
I've thought that sometimes too, but then mons like Kanghaskan don't get baby versions, and some (like Marill) would've looked fine coming out of an egg... I don't get it at all....
Yeah they did add alot of evolution for old pokemon, but most of them I've seen being used on competitive teams like magmortor, electivire, rhyperior, and roserade
I've often wondered what if they made baby pokemon it's own category apart from the 3 evolution line thing.
Maybe you can't fight with them anymore, cause they are baby pokemon, but you can do other stuff with them. Certain pokemon would not have an egg stage and would just pop up as a baby and you would have to walk with it.
probably a bit late in pokemon history, but would allow for new evolutions post baby and add baby pokemon to 3 evolution lines.
I like your approach better than the weird one we got. Some Pokémon have baby forms, but they count as the first stage (?) and they have weird rules surrounding how to even get them in breeding… it’s just odd.
I hope gamefreak continues with adding new evolutions to old Pokémon like with legends arceus. There’s so many Pokémon that could use one like dunsparce, spinda, etc. tbh tho so many Pokémon need buffs to be able to compete with newer mons like majority of gen 2 mons are too weak to be viable.
I feel the baby forms are also useful in keeping a bit of a better early game balance. They allow these Pokémon to “grow”.
Though I have to admit this aspect is rather underused.
I want to point out that Regular stantler evolves into Wyrdeer, no regional variant involved. Also Regular Ursurang evolves into Ursaluna with no regional variant involved too
I feel like Chimecho needed an evolution as well as a pre evolution. It’s not good stat wise and is a little strong for a first stage so Chingling makes sense, but Roselia got both and is around the same BST as Chimecho, 425 for Chimecho and 400 for Roselia. A lot of gen 3 Pokémon just have bad stats and need new evolutions to bump them up
What would Chimecho evolve into? A multi-part windchime?
You know what, I just realised something. Chimecho is based on a evil spirit-repelling windchime, right? Then why is it weak to spirits (Ghost) and evil (Dark)? A new evolution could fix one of these, like a Psychic/Fairy type or a unique ability.
8:02 That last one aged well
and was right, Archaludon went over the line in overdesign
@@SkyRockBHnah archaludon is badass dope lore
"They really haven't done cross-gen evolution since"
Wyrdeer, Kleavor and Ursaluna want to have a talk to you.
I love the new Dragon type gym leader in the video. The Sponsor Fairy Wizard, which I’m sure has a Yanmage as his signature Pokémon
You statement of Dusknoir being better than Duskclops, I would disagree.
This video idea is probably something in the works or has been thought of but I think a video about the inspections behind the new Hisuian forms and evolutions would be cool
I loves the video for how thorough it is (even with the occasional opinions that Lockstin gives as he does)
but moreso, i just found you using a Rayquaza as a teaching pointer lol
happini in the anime was so cute. her unfathomable strength was hilarious, I loved her
You forgot Togekiss. Probably follows similar reasoning to Dusknoir though. Togekiss is far stronger then Togetic. Togetic's my favorite though.
We need a video of how Pokémon took the Pokémon go method and made the perfect Pokémon main series game because of it.
Also why Cyllese is the best Pokémon character ever. She's basically Drago "if he dies he dies"
Cyllene.
I believe quite a few of the pokemon had evolutions in the beta versions of the games that never got released. Like Qwilfish getting Overqwil, there was a qwilfish evolution in the GSC beta.
For me, sinnoh/hisui is Just the region of new evolutions for older forgettable pokemon. For example, in legends arceus they add basculegion and wyrdeer (stantler and basculin = lame and bad).
First like 👍
Nobody cares

I love the Gen 4 evos. Weavile, Yanmega, Magnezone, Froslass, Munchlax are all just so cool and fun
I was always happy with gen 4. The last time I played until sns which really dissapointed me in quality
But gen 4 new evolutions for old pokemon all look super cool to me
Always forget about Sylveon in Gen 6. Never usually count it because it’s an eeveelution, but still.
Froslass is one of my favorites to be introduce in Diamond and Pearl and became a pokemon I always had to have for my team.
