      Honest opinion, I think trubish and garboder are waaay too overheated, the only thing I dislike on garboder is just that his arms are on different levels, other than that, I genuinely looks good, and I think is a way better grimer/muk replacement in the sence that garboder and trubish actually look significantly different and not just like the first stage got fatter. Vanilite is OK, but I think they could have shown better that it's an icicle covered in snow, maybe not have the face on the snow that is covering its body, and a bit of a different face, silly pokemon are fine, but it needs a contrast in personality, looks, concept or something, Vanilite is silly all around, there is no contrast in it that can offset the silly in my opinion, if it had a more mischievous face or it kidnaped children like driftloon, I think it would have been less hated

Honedge's name, Gramokles, references yet another sword from norse mythology, Gram, which was used by Sigurd to slay the dragon Fafnir. The name Gramokles, and also, Duokles, Duoblade's german name, also reference the Sword of Damocles, which is pretty fitting. These Pokemon are literal Swords of Damocles, constantly putting their own weilder's life at threat by absorbing their life energy. • @itsturniptime3699
      @itsturniptime3699 Год назад +20

      I think otherwise. Personally I think Megas undermine the core concept of Pokémon evolution, where each stage is a separate character and not simply an animal growing older. Jigglypuff has notable design differences from Wigglytuff, and while you can understand they’re connected, Wigglytuff isn’t literally just Jigglypuff but more mature looking, it has the bunny ears and feet and that adds a new layer. Same reason why a lot of mid stage starters have random additions that then disappear, Charmeleon’s red skin, Croconaw’s caveman aesthetic, Raboot’s pocket.
      Megas a lot of the time just kinda added stuff on to a Pokémon. No real change, cause obviously it’s a form change not a proper evolution. The downside of this though is when you try to make a Mega for a Pokémon in a complete line with a finished concept and are unable to expand on it. Sure you could make “cooler Flygon” but you might also not do the design enough Justice or cater enough to fan demand. That’s what happened with Charizard and Mewtwo, then 1-3 months later they revealed “Heyyy, here’s the Mega X forms that just so happen to be everything the fans have been demanding in their outrage.”
      My point is Flygon is a wonderful Pokémon with a completed concept, just like Tyranitar, Metagross, and Garchomp. Adding a mega isn’t adding a new layer to the cake, it’s just injecting more cake into the layer that already exists. I’ve heard some argue “well they could make it a Bug type!” but I feel like for a Mega Flygon that would just be a direct downgrade as it loses STAB on ground moves, can’t learn many amazing bug moves, and trades it’s okay weakness spread for a whole bunch of new ones.

      Any real "Genwunner" complaint stopped like over 10 years ago... and even then, it started when a group of old fans saw some of the weirder Gen 5 Pokemon and had complaints that would have died down if people just ignored them...
      Basically, this "defeated nostalgia thing" is nostalgia itself and is basically a complaint towards arguments of the past that few hold... and it's call to attention is more common than it's very existance...

There are several pokemon I don't actually like the design of, but that comes from a place of character design and not whatever the pokemon was actually based on.

    On your point about Oda Nobunaga, well, as much as he's romanticized as a villain due to even calling himself the "demon king," what people don't get is that what he did, unlike the likes of Adolf Hitler or other cruel leaders, wasn't anything that other daimyou of the time period wouldn't do, as samurai actually tended to be very cruel, themselves; much as Night Slash's inspiration of a samurai assassinating an innocent person at night to test their new blade.
    Plus, him calling himself the "demon king" was actually purely in sarcasm and satire in response to Takeda Shingen in a letter calling himself the "head priest of the Tendai sect monks," when in reality, Shingen wasn't even a believer in the Tendai sect, let alone their "head priest." Thus, Nobunaga was basically flipping Shingen the bird and saying, "Pfft, 'head priest,' my foot. If you're the head priest of a sect that you don't even frickin' follow in the first place, then I'm the demon king of the Sixth Heaven."

The legend of Juuchi Yosamu/Muranasa vs. Yawarakai-Tei/Masamune is more a parable at best.)

    The fact there were no Hisuian or Paldean regional variants or convergent evolutions of this line is disappointing. I mean granted, I have no idea what form the shield would take for a Hisuian Aegislash as Samurai weren't really known for using shields but for Paldean it's easy because the Spanish used bucklers so the shield wouldn't be that different aside from being smaller relative to the sword (bucklers were _tiny_ compared to other shields) and with different adornments and maybe one of those weird semi-spherical bulge things in the middle of the outside that bucklers usually had.

My own love of Swords and the like probably also makes me a little biased. Plus, the image of a King or Knight wielding a Pokémon into battle is pretty sick, especially with fitting Armor and scarves.

Doesn't change the Pokemon's form, maybe 20 points for each stat or 30 in the two highest stats and 20 in the next two highest, but still allows Pokemon teams without one of the 20 popular Pokemon to utilize the mechanic.

Pokemon will manifest based on the commonalities of the pokemon world, pollution caused the creation of the Muk and Weezing, the advent of industrialization and electricity created pokemon like Magnemite and Electrode, and so on. Just like the famous Tsukumogami takes the form of old and cherished objects, pokemon will take the form of well-known every day objects from time to time.

    the point with Celtic and Gaelic being mostly the same is because over time the history has become mostly ignored/muddied and ESSENTIALLY proto-Celtic peoples are what would essentially split down the middle with Gaelic being mostly what is now modern Scotland, Ireland and The Isle Man while the other half is mostly broadly referred to as Brythonic and its mostly what became Wales and much of Cornwall and it's surroundings (pretty much the British west country. What you think of when you think of Farmers and such) it also includes Brittany but that's French now...which makes these pokemon showing up in Kalos PERFECT.
