- This video introduces you to our new LS MT357 57hp hydrostatic drive cab style tractor. It has aaaalllllll the bells and whistles and was priced very affordably. It has a 3 year comprehensive and 6 year drivetrain and emissions warranty. It is a beast when you put it to work. I purchased it from John Ryan at RCO Tractors in Spicewood TX. I have had great experiences in my purchases from him in the past and he made this another great one. He delivered it himself and didn't know I was going to make this video. One correction: the comprehensive portion of LS Warranty lasts 2 years or 750 hours of operation. You are correct that powertrain warranty (and emissions controls) go to 6 years or 1500 hours of operation.

I have the MT 342 and it’s been a great tractor! You can’t beat the AC, heat and stereo!
I have a 2011 LS P7010 tractor and I honestly do not recommend buying an LS due to the high cost of parts and lack of support from the company. My tractor came with the place when I bought the property and has less than 1600 hours on it. Recently the thermostat failed. A thermostat is a simple device and usually costs around $30 here in Northern BC Canada. The LS dealer that sold this tractor has gone out of business and there are no dealers in British Columbia. I contacted a dealer in Alberta and was quoted about $600 for the part. LS only offers this part as part of an assembly and won't sell the thermostat separately or provide a cross reference number. I contacted LS USA and a number of LS dealers in the US and was told the same thing. A local New Holland dealer was able to cross the LS part number with a Case number but they also only sell the complete assembly but it is at least cheaper at $250. LS USA's attitude is that my 12 year old machine is too old to properly support. I have 65 year old baling equipment that I can still get parts for and repair myself. LS should be ashamed of themselves.

Loved the video and love the tractor Ray. I also like how you are making modifications to make your tractor more user friendly. I do the same, and over time making things better, it's hard to not look at something to try to find a way to change it. I have a hack or tip for you. The decal stickers you was talking about and removing while they was new and fresh and not old and flackey and brittle. If you spray wd 40 on the sticker and spray wd 40 on any left over sticker glue residue on a painted surface. The sticker or decal and glue will come off very easy with damaging or hurting the painted surface. if you don't have wd 40 then use penatrating oil. It works for me.

Used the LS for six hours today. I used a six foot land plane to repair and maintain 1.2 miles of gravel road. It worked out but I would have really preferred to have my road grader. I’ve used a ‘74 fiat allis motor grader to maintain 3.5 miles of road for the last 12 years and I’m really spoiled to that machine. Today this was my only option. The road came out pretty good but it was a challenge.

Please. Don’t ever apologize for shooting guns. First saw these when I stopped at a dealer to get some stuff for my old tractor at a dealer on my way out to look at a used Branson that I was sure I was gonna pull the trigger on. But after checking the Smurf tractors I was like damn. These are pretty cool. Maybe this year. Where are they made? That windshield wiper is too high. Can it be adjusted lower?

I understand. I’m not religious but I do believe that God gave us two special gifts, the internal combustion engine and hydraulics. The tractor is a special union of the two.
Oh and I feel the same way about mules. I don’t need one but I wish I did because they are amazing.
Definitely need open sources versions of such machines... Open source hardware and software would mean that repairability would become indefinite and easy, I think.
Interesting video, Ray. Sure has a LOT more features than my old 8N! I’ll never forget the fun times I had on that old tractor. For example, I had an oversized disc I would drag behind, and when I got to the end of the row I could just raise that 3-pt a bit, stomp on the one brake, and turn 180 in an instant with the front wheels off the ground. Probably not something the LS, orange, or green dealers would recommend.
It is exactly what they would recommend!!! Split brake pedals to allow just that.
It would be great if you went over the inverters you chose and the features they have.

Great video sir! I just bought the same exact tractor. I now have 50 hours on it and I absolutely LOVE it. My last tractor was open station, and I am loving the cab. One thing you might check... (and it's actually in the owner's manual), when a loader is mounted on these machines, the steering stops must be re-adjusted. If they aren't, when you are at full turn and your axle articulates, the tire will hit the loader bracket, and can bind and snap a tie rod or worse. I have noticed that some dealers are missing this adjustment. Mine was missed, and luckily I checked and adjusted because my wheel was hitting my bracket. The way you can easily check, is to raise the front wheels off the ground with the loader... then turn wheel to full stop, then articulate the axle to see if the tire hits the loader bracket. Love your video, very thorough.. also love your property. Beautiful! I have 50 acres, and use my tractor for my sawmill operation.

@@braddsn still don’t know what you mean. If you raise the front wheels off the ground and turn the wheel all the way, are you then saying to tilt the axle? Like as if you put a floor jack under one wheel so that it will get closer to the frame? Only thing i can think of.

I bought a small piece of land to live off grid on a year or so ago and i bought a small LS Tractor and i don't know what i would have done without it.
I didn't know they made a cab version! I live in southern Arizona in the high desert and that would have been sweet with ac and heat, guess i'll be looking at trading her in lol

The links you see on other RUclipsrs channels are affiliate links where they make 3-8% on everything you buy. It takes a lot of time to establish and maintain the links and often the things you see later prove to not be great. They don't remove them. I would have a really hard time keeping track of it all. It would make me some money but I don't do this to make money. I just want to share information that I learn so the effort to learn it is worth more than just my own benefit. When people really want to know, I will tell them where I got something. More importantly, I can let them know if I have found something better or had a problem later with something. When I got started there were some RUclipsrs that I watched and I would sometimes buy from their links but the quality of the things wasn't always that good. Have you ever heard of Open Source Ecology project, by Marcin Jakubowski?
It's a very cool project, that aims at building a few dozens of essential agricultural machines, open source that is. So far they made a few, most important being the tractor (cool little tractor, and one can do a lot of things with it)
Unfortunately the project isn't getting the attention and participation that it certainly deserves, but still much better than nothing, I believe slowly some enthusiasts are working on it.

Thanks for the video. My dad is looking at the MT347HC. Did you know that LS uses the same engine from 35 HP on up to 57? Are you aware of any mechanical internal differences in the transmission or motor to handle the increased power? Or is all LS doing is increasing the boost pressure of the turbo? Thanks in advance for your answer.
They use the same engine for 42, 47, 52, or 57. I am told the only difference is in the programming. I suspect that the difference in cost is to pay for providing a six year warranty to a more and more stressed engine. I will be gentle with this 57 hp and use it when needed.

Did you find drop in LEDs for the work lights? Or are you going with some sort of light bar. Thinking about buying the same tractor.
I bought the lights from tractor supply. I got two hybrids for the front that combine narrow beam and wide beam. I got wide beam for the rear and then I also added two wide beams to the rear corners where there is already wiring for beacon lights. They aim to the sides and forward. The connectors for those use a European cigarette plug which I find to be a higher quality design than we have in the states. Now I have gobs of light for when the days get shorter.

Well i've seen a lot of videos of these tractors actually breaking down. And ther 2 bit fly by nigit. Dealers do not know how to work on them. The only way I would buy an LS is if they had a lemon law on tractors.
I think LS used to make New Holland stuff so they should be okay.
LS as for sometime and still does make the new Holland tractors of 50 hp and smaller.
How did you get ahold of RCO Tractors? I want to buy a Grasshopper mower from them, but every time I drive by the gate is closed, and they don’t answer the phones.

This cab tractor has a rollover protection system built into the cab if that’s what you’re asking about.

W. R. Long third function kit. Same as my tractor.
What's the maximum weight the loader can lift?
It all depends on the shape and size of the load. If the load is compact and can be close to the loader pivot point then well over 2000 lbs is possible. Larger loads that are way out front of the machine will be less. I can lift and move 1/2 a pallet of concrete bags for instance. The largest bales of hay are no problem. These are really large and weigh 1800 lbs. I have unloaded large pallets of wood flooring. It is however limited in its ability. It will not unload full bundles of lumber from a truck safely. Be very careful in managing heavy loads. What the machine can do isn’t the same as what it should do and operating near its limits can be very dangerous in certain situations. Having a heavy implement on the back can help with stability and can help to avoid over stressing the front end by transferring more of the load to the rear tires. It becomes a complex question.

Where the ls ,tym ,kioti fail is pto power. The ls 357 only puts 41.5 to the pto where as a kubota or deere 60 hp puts 53 hp to the pto. This is the major downfall of these off brand tractors. The Transmissions are just no where near as good.

I don’t understand some of your narrative-this IS a cab tractor, right? So why so many statements about how you didn’t want to damage a cab!?
Four years ago I bought the same tractor for myself without a cab. My property is different than the one I’m working on now. This property is more appropriate for a cab tractor than mine.
You dont have to lean over it if you have a portable fuel tank ever thought of that
Priced it and decided it didn’t pencil out.
