    ▶️ Are SUMMIT TRACTORS GARBAGE?

My MT357 came optioned very slightly differently from that one. Mine has 3 rear hydraulic remotes, so can run my hydraulic top link, along with two more circuits for my offset flail mower. The 3rd function is available for the loader. If you want it or need it: Ask for it.
The MT3 series has 42, 47, 52 and 57 hp models. How many HP you get (and the numbers on the hood) depends upon how much you want to pay.
I don't personally find any issues with the placement of the loader handle. My brain eventually feels that it works just like my JD, and one result is you can mount/dismount through the right door. (Also: use the arm rests.)
You might have noticed the second lever next to the rear lift control. It's for the draft control. The tractor detects what torque the implement is transmitting to the upper 3-point arm, and dynamically adjusts the implement lift height, within the bounds you set with the handle. This feature was really A THING back when Ford 8/9N tractors had a lot less HP. Many makers don't bother including it these days, because it costs money to support it. The sophisticated user who needs it, or can use it can get it in this model.
My 357 has Cat 2 lift arms, which means compatibility with a Cat 1 implement can be somewhat tricky, especially if the implement only has a narrow clevis hitch. This has nothing to do with it being an LS tractor. It's to do with it being a bigger tractor, with Cat 2. Pin-type lift pins are no issue. I've only found this to be a problem on one tool: A Cat-1 Speeco quick hitch. It's a problem I bought when I bought a Cat 1 tool.
The throttle up/down buttons you waved over are the engine speed control. You program an engine speed, and it will utilize that 57 horsepower to KEEP that speed and thus the PTO speed, which could otherwise vary depending upon how hard it may be pulling due to soil conditions the tires are encountering, slope of the ground (up or down a hill), PTO implement load and of course how fast you are trying to go at the moment. It's kind of like (speed) cruise control, but it's not controlling wheel speed.

I've got the same tractor, same quick hitch, and same problem! I'm wanting to keep my Cat 2 3 point setup, but most of my implements are Cat 1. Is there potentially a solution to this?

Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Thanks for going over those tractors. Amazing the brands that are available now days. Lots of light duty small units. And then some are more in the medium duty type units.
Thanks for going over the features.
    Thanks for everything Hank.

    • @thooper4380
      @thooper4380 8 месяцев назад

I own this exact model of tractor. The green lever is "draft control". I haven't used it, but it's to keep a rear implement penetration depth constant when dealing with uneven ground. I do like the turn buckle on the 3 point, as sometimes you want an implement at an angle, but I've found that simple eyeballing it back to level isn't always successful. But not a major issue make an adjustment.

@@thooper4380 i think they are maybe saying they prefer a hydraulic top link? Which can adjust your angle on the fly, with a lever in the cab.

I found a 2018 MT345E with only 63 hours on it, with a 60" box blade, 6' galvanized brush mower, and pallet forks for $16,500. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I've had it about about 2 months and I have absolutely loved it so far. This thing has power to spare and still has a compact footprint. It's fairly heavy too. Only drawbacks are that it does not have rear remotes or 3rd function, but those can be added. Apparently that's not included in the "E" models. It's also very easy on fuel. It seems to be very well made and has a Mitsubishi engine. From what I've read, LS also manufactures IH Case units as well as Branson and a few others. As others have mentioned, dealer proximity is sometimes an issue and some of those "dealers" aren't well scrutinized by LS, so they aren't much more than a lot with a portable building and a tractor or two. That said, their online parts catalog is pretty nice so getting parts doesn't appear to be difficult. Perhaps LS should do a better job of requiring their dealers to meet certain standards and carry a prescribed inventory of parts. The tractor itself seems pretty solid though.

95 hours on my LS MT342 shuttle shift, and it's already in the shop at Legacy Tractors in Ft Collins getting a new transmission. I found a keyway magnetized to the oil plug when I changed the hydraulic fluid. The fluid was completely gray indicating metal shavings throughout the drive train. From day one this tractor never went into gear smoothly. I'm going to be pissed if they charge anything to fix it.

I have the 2025 and the muffler broke from to much vibration but got it welded 👍🏽 next was front axle was leaking got that fixed 👍🏽. Only thing I hated was it did not come with the hydraulic hookups in the rear why I don't know. I'm thinking of buying more attachments for it and possibly making a homemade cab for it. I am a trick of all trades. Meaning I'm smart at what I do and I don't give up that easy. If I can't, give me a sledge hammer while I put it to rest 👊🏽🤣

I traded my green tractor in for an LS a few years ago. I was scared. But I've had no regrets at all. It does everything I ask of it and more, and I've not had a single breakdown. (except the time I tore out the hydro return line driving over piles of branches) PS: everything you see on those tractors is standard equipment.

I have a New Holland Boomer 50 which is an LS with a different loader. The cab is comfortable and I haven't found the loader control or rear spools valves interfere in any way. The seat has armrests and my elbow is usually resting on it. I have put 287 hours on it mowing grading, snow clearing, spreading gravel etc. with zero problems.
I have a few dislikes: The position of the range selector lever. When I use a rear snow blower in the lever is a little uncomfortable on my left when I am turned around to blow snow behind me, especially in low range as is necessary on the hills I have. Seeing to hook up to a SSQA implement is difficult. If I scoot forward on the seat so I can see, the seat switch wants to kill the tractor.
Other than those minor complaints, it's a great machine.

I am curious as to how old are the videos and what production year were the tractors. It seems like just about everybody had problems with the first generation of Tier IV tractors. Most (if not all) manufacturers are making second generation Tier IV tractors now and the problems seem to be taken care of.
