    Thank you for posting. Several concerns , particularly as a Montessori teacher, there seems a huge focus on "reading in class" removing the opportunities for exploration and investigation.
    The loss of Shape and Space is glaring. I will be interested to see how it progressed.
    Some of the goals do seem simplified.

      Hi Claire - thanks for your comments. It's really interesting to hear from a Montessori teacher's point of view! I also have some concerns, I am looking forward to seeing what feedback the trial schools have. The government have said part of the change is to reduce teacher workload... not sure how that translates either to be honest!

    I like the emphasis on culture and religion, also on performing; however, everything else is a case of 'changing for changing sake'!

    Good video thank you, I’m still in awe and wonder how the heck my little 3-4 yr olds are going to achieve these goals when they can be very shy,emotional and lack the vocabulary that seems to be required to meet them. Everything is aimed at schools, the thing is I’m in pre-school and I’m not a teacher I feel so lost tbh and find the whole thing worrying!

    Thank you for this video! Very informative. I work in an international school where we work on Uk's National Curriculum and we use Jolly Phonics so I find your videos very interesting and I was missing such content on YT. This kind of videos - with your comments on such documents as EYFS areas is such a great idea.

    Thanks for the information as I am thinking of teaching EYFS in the UK but I was skeptical because I heard and did researched and found that it's different to New Zealand, however what you have shared it's familiar with the New Zealand Curriculum Framework for Early Children Education

    So, i have mixed feelings about these changes. I work in a pre-school, so I use slightly different ages and goals, but the same EYFS. I am totally supportive of splitting Physical into Gross Motor and Fine Motor, something which I had been calling for, for a while. However, the loss of Health & Self Care as an area, is concerning. Without a specific area, something like this may get overlooked. H&SC is important for a child's independence and readiness for school. Also the loss of Understanding in Communication & Language is alarming, I always find this is an important area when getting to know children, and knowing what they understand and what they don't. Past & Present and People & Communities, I feel could be merged into one area, they seem very similar. Losing Shape, Space & Measure is probably my biggest worry, the focus on shapes, sizes and patterns seems to be diminishing, and there is more to maths than just numbers.

    I think that the aim of subitizing is to recognise the same number but in different arrangements so children don't get stuck on one particular pattern. It's very important because Five is not just five on the dice but can be represented in many many different ways

    Hi, I really enjoyed your video, thank you. I am currently studying as an early years educator with in a forest school, I too felt rather concerned about the amount of focus on 'reading in the class' and outcomes being achieved within the class room environment, i wonder how this will impact on us at our setting if the changes are to go ahead? our children learn in a woodland environment, we don't have a traditional 'class room'. Do you know anymore on how the trial went? Thanks again for the video, i have subscribed, i'm pretty sure you are going to help me during my studies :) Cara

    Hi Amy, thanks for making and sharing these interesting videos. I wanted to ask your opinion about the impact on the new social distancing regulations in EY learning. Based on what I've seen so far, especially during this month is where children are having a smaller selection of activities to learn from (sand, water, wood), classes have fewer children (11 in my case) and teachers sending videos with daily activities, it seems to create certain reliance on video-teaching which it's unlikely to replace the interactivity of presential teaching, therefore making learning less effective. What's your view on this? thanks

    are these changes applied for nursery children or just for reception? sorry for the dumb question. I just thought this change was for recepetion and not for younger toddlers in nursery

    • @LittleLearnersVideos
      @LittleLearnersVideos  4 года назад +1

      There are no dumb questions 😊 Yes the changes apply to all EYFS, I have updated this video with the new framework here: ruclips.net/video/eJ3ZL9WI16A/видео.html
      They have also changed the Development Matters which I will make a video on soon.
