Thank you for making this video! I’m a childcare practitioner in a shared Nursery & reception class and although I currently assess younger children, I am so surprised at some of the new changes. I agree that hygiene and toileting should be in PSED after all, it is personal development. However, I really disagree with not having a SSM category within maths! Especially when young children more so older Nursery and reception, make reference to terms associated with SSM during play and everyday conversations. I’m really surprised about the technology category too- I’ve thought for some time that this out of the whole EYFS needs updating as technology has improved so much since the statements were last written. I thought the updates to it would’ve considered using simple functions on a iPad/ tablet, remote control for tv, computer or games console. It’ll be interesting to see what changes will be made to the statements for the rest of the age bands

I'd love to hear how you think the new goals will impact on your day to day and assessment in the classroom.

As a Reception teaching assistant. My thoughts at the moment are mainly hectic. After a tough year my school have decided take this on early and it feels relatively unfair at the moment (I.e trying to get used.to.it after 8 yearsof using the previous one).
That being said I havent seen what we're using to track their progress.
I'm not suprised technology has been eliminated as it seems to be a given elg that is met naturally most of the time....however it seems that children are now expected to pick up shape, space and measure naturally and I dont know how to feel about that yet.
Good luck to all those taking on this approach this Autumn.

Thank you so much for going through this for us, however will the *Technology* under expressive arts and design be updated later, also the *Shapes, space and measure* under mathematics also updated?

Is this based on reception age? 4-5?

Honestly I think me and my Year 9 class could do with going back to EYFS
