I miss the Gmc RTS bus and I still miss the green bus line i remember the Q35 bus and Q22 bus line it was part of my childhood in Brooklyn and Queens 💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏
From 2:13-2:23....that brought back a lot of memories. It reminded me of how I'd always try to mimic the transmission sound effects as a kid. Absolutely beautiful!!!
Seeing these busses as a kid made me wanna be a driver so bad, now the job opportunity is calling in my city and I'm considering but I KNOW IT WILL NEVER AMOUNT TO THIS!
I always liked the GM/GMC New Look buses better, but compared to the boxy rattletraps that are used these days, I'll take the RTS, hands-down. I'm a late convert--it's a classic.
Worked for Green Bus in the mid 70's. The same people owned Triborough and Jamaica Bus and I have to tell you that Triborough was the best kept up. Green buses were the least maintained especially if you worked out of the Rockaway garage.
I honestly can't say I'm that surprised. Looking back, those buses did seem a bit off. Thankfully, I didn't really have to rely on them, especially since I had the options of walking and using the B41. The Q22 had to be far worse than it is now, though...
In case of emergency, the operator would press a hidden button that would make those flash and alert police that the bus was in danger. A silent alarm, if you will. They were nicknamed bullseye lights.
LOL that bus has lots of personality. The operator made it no better. Lets see... Green Bus Lines was unfortunately taken over. They had a diverse fleet of RTSs, WMATA Orion 05 rejects, and some MCI classics. They served queens with some express routes to Manhattan

Owner was Jerome "Jerry" Cooper (Transit Alliance).
I'm not shocked seeing the areas they serviced. Queens surface was also very well maintained
The 6V92TA engines with V731s really makes a bus sound beast
i miss the GMCs expecially riding them on the Q40 route to my grandmas house
what were the lights on either side of the destination placard for?
