- Kate, Jim and Kava rockhound for natural treasures on a new gravel beach near Kinsey, Montana. Besides finding two MASSIVE chunks of petrified wood, the pair uncovers stunning agatized wood, plumy jasper-agates, and some absolutely breathtaking Montana agates. Jim is working on perfecting his Dance of Joy as he develops an eye for the rocks, while Kate is delighted to find a CHUNKY agate, filled with dendrites and bands, that was mostly buried in the sand. It's an afternoon of rockhounding adventure and good family fun!

HEY Kate Do You Or Have You Ever Found Any CABOCHONS While ROCK HUNTING?
A cabochon is made by hand - so I have not found any on the beach - but I have a lot of them!
You are just so blessed to live where you do. Lots of beautiful rock's. And i love your husband partakes too! Y'all look so happy! Great petrified wood. I live in Florida and have started this rockhounding habit. But new. I had to quit working due to over working my body. Need a new liver transplant and have two different arthritis. Copd. IBS.. SO UNHEALTHY. So really hard to bend and look. I do it but sleep the whole next day. Haven't even bought a tumbler yet. Waiting on SSDI. But i really love watching you cut and find! I keep thinking whatsthat to the left or right. Lol.. Happy rocking!

I love all the wood you found. Hi I'm up in Tacoma Washington, recently I found a burnt petrified wood in the creek by my niece place. I've been cleaning it up and found black crystals, and a vain of white crystal. My friend looked at it and told me to stop cleaning it put away with damp cloth in dark place and forget it for awhile, and the crystals should grow. Do they really grow like that?
I don't THINK so, but I actually don't know that much about crystals :)
I collect rocks Lake Superior beaches, but there are always other people around. How do you find so manyYellowstone River beaches with hardly another person in sight?
Montana has lots of wide open spaces. It's a huge place, with very few people.

Yes! I made it. Great area and beautiful day for finding agates, petrified wood etc. I enjoy Kava jumping after the drone.
She is so funny with that drone. She is a little more cautious than she used to be, though, because once she jumped very high and landed hard on the gravel. 😊

Had a pretty good day myself on Saturday with my wife and one of my grandsons, we all found some nice pieces of petrified wood, though my grandson found the first good piece about 4kg(8to9lb) chunk and let me know about it for hours, couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. Ever time I found a piece it was either not as good as his or not as big. 😂😂😂😂, just a great afternoon for us all.
Exploring an amongst the big rocks = Monsterssss. Awesome stuff. Gotta love Mother Nature- she sorts our rocks in there allocated sizes for us….💯💯

Hello! If you are looking for agates, I suggest going as far east of Billings as your time allows. The Yellowstone still has lots of treasures, but the area near Billings tends to be overhunted. Do a Google search for "Yellowstone River Fishing Access," then look at each one on Google Earth to see what gravel bars might be available. Good luck!

I so love quartz. As a kid my favorite thing to find in our gravel drive and gravel country road was pink little quartz stones. And just from being in the drive/gravel road they would usually already be naturally polished and rounded off. Those were my treasures. I spent so many hours lost in the rocks around our rural AR home.
