Such nostalgia, man. Those announcers were fire! Not much was more exciting back then, than flipping the channels and coming across a WEC fight you forgot was happening.
I woke up today and was wearing a Respect the mullet shirt I got from miguel in like 2011, at a ibjjf tournament in Cali. Lazy in bed I started looking up his record again etc. And wondered about his last fight. Stumbled open this video. I was curious how he's doing and saw this. Man what a legend. Still doing great things
I agree man, WEC spawned a lot of crazy fighters and lots were forgotten or lost after transitioning into UFC. Most “MMA FANS” now just bandwagon and always saying whose pound for pound by just knockouts
My son trains at his gym….. he really is the best and my son idolizes him. He is really the best. I highly recommend his gym for you or your young ones
I wish I could say this was for the cameras, but this is really him. He's a humble guy now a days. Takes the time to give every person in the class a tip here and there and still spars with his higher level students. Has kids classes and they're hilarious but you can tell they love it.
Miguel was one of my first favorite bantamweights when the WEC merged into UFC and introduced the weight class seemingly a lifetime ago. Such a beast and exciting fighter.
Damn I almost forgot about MT. I miss those WEC days, the sport and culture had such a different feeling back then. I wish him all the best in his future and thank you for all the memories champ🙏💪🏾
I dig what Miguel is doing for the elders, with Parkinson's. There is a facility here in Jacksonville, Fl that does the same thing and they also hold free training for Veterans and First responders. When it comes down to it, being KIND to yourself and others is the best feeling there is.
Amazing documentary. The fight game is ruthless, Miguel missed out on the popularity and fame that current ufc stars experience but he definitely opened the door's for a ton of fighters to make a career. Mentioning how he out 135 on the map, and now the bantamweight division is one of the most stacked divisions in the ufc. Glad to see hes found a purpose after fighting and that hes at peace with where hes at in life. Still trailblazing too, wish more gyms would care for and create a community like how hes done with his wolfpack.
*You Have No Clue What Happened To Miguel & UFC... Smfh... Dana White Fired Him Over A Tweet... Yes The Freedom Of Speech Dana White Fired Him Over A Tweet & Buried Him In A Press Conference So No MMA Company Would Want Him... The Same Dana White Who Loves Joe Rogan... Mhmmm*

Watching this brought tears to my eyes to see one of our legends just involved & giving back ! Wow ! The legend of Miguel Torres toughest fighter ever I swear !!
He was one of the guys along with Faber that got me into watching WEC. The fact that he was a fighter from Chicago was just the icing on the cake. WEC was a great promotion that showcased the lighter weight classes. I can’t even point out one single fight in the promotion that wasn’t very good to great. He was an exciting fighter to watch and it’s great that he found fulfillment in being a coach. Goes to show that there is a life after fighting is over if you choose to pursue it.
Well done documentary. I've had the pleasure of meeting Miguel and training at his gym after the Maeda fight. Good guy. Great to see his gym and his fighters doing well.
Miguel Torres deserves to be in the hall of fame for putting the lower weight classes on the map. He proved that the fights were more about technique and fundamentals. He had the heart of a lion in the cage and his grit and tenacity was the reason I fell in love with MMA. He's a legend in the truest sense of the word.
I just began training under Mr. Torres. Right out if the gate I found him very inspirational and charismatic. He is also a great instructor. I look forward to many years of learning from Mr. Torres.
Miguel was more than amazing back in the day. It was an honor to train with him at Carlson's HQ, I even had the honor of fighting on the same card with Miguel and Stephan Bonnar back in the day. Class act and one of the best to ever do it. Salute and hand claps Brother. Your Bro Herc.💪🏼
These documentaries are great, man! You do not get the credit you deserve! As someone in martial arts and pursuing Sports Science in university, seeing this is such an inspiration for me.
Randomly found this Documentary, 2005 Miguel Torres vs Mania Tapia was the first MMA fight I ever saw, I loved how calm and collected Miguel was. Thank you for the memories sir!
Probably the first fighter I ever called my "favorite" and ever felt a strong connection with. Like he was MY guy haha. He inspired me to train and to compete in amateur mma. Love that someone is still telling his story. A lot of new fans would fall in love with him If they saw all his wars in his prime.
I'm an amateur fighter, my dad told me about Miguel Torres and his legacy so I decided to check this documentary out. I love this perspective and hearing Miguel's story through his own words is encouraging and invigorating for those of us who wish to follow in his footsteps. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do for people Mr. Torres 🤙🏽
Unbelievable documentary. Really highlights the different aspects of who Miguel is. Not just the fighter, but the community leader, coach, family man, and human being behind it all 🔥👏
I can remember back when Miguel ran his MMA Gym out of Worlds Gym in Highland Indiana. He shared the area of the gym with a guy running a karate class. Wasn't long until the karate guy packed his bags and left. Miguel did all this while still competing as a top competitor in WEC. There is a lot of respect i have for this guy.
Dammm I watch his videos from time to time. I ran into this video before going to the web to see where he’s been or what he’s been up to. My favorite fighter of all time. Loved his moves. Thru this video I smiled a lot and noticed this video made pay a lot of attention to who he really is. I’m proud of him and very glad he’s grown to be a great coach. After all we all gonna get old and he’s passing on a great technique.
I trained with this man for a little bit. Tell you he cares about his students. I wanted to get my black belt under him but moved away from the Chicagoland area. Great man and best pound for pound fighters out there!
I remember i was a super casual MMA fan, but in 2008-2009 i became hooked and at the time i discovered the WEC. Cruz was my favorite fighter and my dream match was Cruz vs Torres but Bowles came and put an end to Torres' crazy streak. Torres was always someone i root for and would always watch!
I have such fond college memories of getting together in my dorm with my friends and watching the UFC/WEC. Miguel was one of our favorites. This was an excellent trip down memory lane and happy to see that Miguel is in a good place in his life.
I'm so glad I got to experience watching wec when it was around. I just moved into a new apt with my wife working full time. I got cable TV with internet and I used to watch wec everytime I got a chance. I uses to BBQ and watch those fights aww man so many good fights. I always wondered where Torres went I enjoyed watching his style. He reminded me of karate kid that's why I was a huge fan of him. Cool dude
Miguel absolutely helped put the smaller weight classes in a position to experience a boom. Quick, good hands and feet and a demon on the ground. Also seemed personable and pretty humble. Really enjoyed his WEC days. Glad to see he’s got such great things going!
Miguel was THE MAN! Definitely one of the few that opened doors for the “smaller” fighters. Btw, excellent quality video. I’m now a fan of your work. Keep them coming!!!!
Miguel was amazing i watched the WEC fightings just for him you do a great job i was always wondering what happened to him, its great to know notice of him, Great video and great documentary 🎉
I appreciate this vid, my dude! @Ray Hui. Love Miguel in the WEC. Was really rooting for him in the UFC. Good to see he set himself up well for retirement. Thank you.
This dude, and Benson Henderson were 2 of my favorite fighters from the WEC. Also the Korean Zombie, Domicic Cruz, Urijah Faber, Jose Aldo, and many more. But i never missed 1 Miguel Torres fight
Damn! I had totally forgot about Miguel. I remember first hearing about him back in the day. I finally saw a pic of him & immediately dismissed him as 'nothing'. I finally watched a fight of his & got mad & hated him. "How is this flacco MFer beating these guys?! He's nothing!!" my dumbass thought. After finding a few more of his fights I grew to really enjoy watching him fight! Tons of respect for him! I've of my all time favorites. I liked mma before him, he forced me to LOVE it. GREAT DOCUMENTARY!! Thank you for it. Keep it up Miguel!!
I dont care what anyone says. Prime WEC days was mma at its finest. I miss those days. Miguel was one of my favorites.
100%, The UFC basically gobbled up the market and made everything more boring.
Dude, you are spot on. Some of the best fights ever!
Wec fight cards were the best ! And they would have there cards on weekdays which was the best after coming home from work lol
Such nostalgia, man. Those announcers were fire! Not much was more exciting back then, than flipping the channels and coming across a WEC fight you forgot was happening.
Damn only OG fans know how great Torres was in his prime
I had him up there with fedor as P4P best fighter in the world. He was ahead of his time
That fella was a savage
He was why I watched the "smaller" fighters. He made WEC fun to watch. One of the best ever to do it
I mean besides Jose Aldo
agree
@AndrewHohn that why he said "one of" the best, reading comprehension is important.
Miguel training those old fellas with Parkinson’s is unreal. What a legend.
Miguel is a legend both inside and outside of the cage!
Fantastic person
That shit made me sad, respect to him and those gents.life certainly has a dark sense of humor.
Champ still rocking a mullet and black eye! LEGEND.
Dude was top 5 p4p for almost 5 years straight, Miguel Torres...salute ✊

Miguel was an absolutely monster. He was one of my favorite fighters.
yes

I met this man in his fighting days. And man he was so cool and humble to talk I wish him nothing but the best. Prayers to him and his family!
