Loctite the recoil starter bolts, that’s why it locked up. I had the same problem!
Great video as usual. Have you ever considered a project where you design and build a 1/4 scale (or bigger) project that you fabricate (3D print, C & C machine etc) everything? Chassis, suspension, drivetrain, engine, etc etc? Obviously this would be a huge long term expensive complicated undertaking. A very cool addition to anyone's collection and an even bigger impact on the industry overall possibly.
All the red alloy bits look sweet . One part of vid really made me smile. When Kev let the little one have a go he drove it better than Stempy 🤣
I trust my 6 year old more than most adults with my big rc cars. If they have been around the hobby they have more respect for them.
As long as you got it back an it was repairable then the kid would have done better than stemp lol

I was referring to the new 1/5 scale XLT you just purchased if you spray some WD-40 in there on your pull start when you take it off on the little latches of springs it keeps them lubricated that way they won't stick
That suspension needs some love. Bottomed way out with less than a 4ft drop.
Hey mate if you drill a 5mm hole in each clutch arm it should engage sooner making it pull quicker off the line. Worked on our pocket bikes

I currently own 1 nitro car, and 1 electric, and consider myself a casual.
From my casual perspective, these vehicles should come out of the box with threadlocker applied to the appropriate locations, and reinforced components should be standard at weak points (diffs, suspension). Even finding a decent battery and charger for my Traxxas Maxx required a bit of sleuthing on the internet to ensure I wasn't going to burn my house down. It's a cool hobby, but it definitely has a lot of downtime involved.

I also clean with water and dry with air compressor. After that I use sollicone spray on the metal parts like wheel hubs etc to prevent it from rusting,

Hey kev, keep an eye on the power switch on the car. That power switch tends to be janky and if you push the switch to far into the on position, it will shut off again, or the switch may be jiggly.
I think this is the same truck that Rovan sells under a different brand. Can anyone confirm?

Kev! You can use those shocks on your Outcast 8s, need two sets of fronts, 6k cst oil and use the stock outcast springs. These do not bend haha.

For cleaning rc cars i had good luck with blowing the chunky stuff out with a compressor really good and then using a silicon oil that was safe for plastic and put a good coat on everything and then wait like 30 seconds then blow everything out and it would come out like brand new lol.

They are actually really good quality. I've had no issues with mine. I bought the blue anodized version of the 450XLT which I think looks even better than the red one.
You should get the copperhead system for the trx6
If you could, take some pics or a video on the X Maxx with those wheels. They look about the size I want for my X Maxx.
They’re not good for the Xmaxx. They balloon too much for brushless power. I wanted to get them too for mine.

That Fly Sky radio and FS-BS3 receiver is in all my RCs definitely a killer combo on a budget.
Agreed, great radio for the price and really good range on them normally, Kev got a dud it seems. Definitely worth modding to power with a small LiPo instead of 8xAA and reversing the top LCD screen layer to make it better to read in sunlight.
Awesome video Kev! I have the Rovan X-LT that I converted over to 12S. It's a very tough RC but is heavy to carry around. Get a drag rope. Lol
Drag rope? I'd buy a trailer for it and sit in that.
