Hi Aaron, cool video that really helped me! I was wondering if we could use a fuel which has an octane rating of 98RON or higher because in my country we have Shell VPower which is 99RON and we also have 100RON. I would like to know if it is safe to run the engine with those fuels. Thanks!
I see, but my country has banned ethanol fuels to be sold in stations so my country has ethanol free gas from 95RON (regular) to 100RON. should I still go for it? I know this car needs a minimum of 91RON but I just want to try a higher octane fuel and see if it runs differently. Thanks!
@@cpmagic6454 You can try it, it won't hurt anything. But it likely won't be any better; fuel quality is more important than a higher octane rating for these engines.
So cool! What a great video ❤. I have a question, Can I break in, my Roavan baja 5b 29cc in one go!, Before my battery dies?, its a HPI Battery 6.0v 4300mah 25.8wh. I have no idea how long that battery last before hitting 0%
Hi, I followed your video step by step on my new baja, it started running for about 10 seconds then cut out, should I repeat the choke on choke off again? I just don't want to flood it
Hello. Is there a difference between Fully synthetic oil and Synthetic based oil? What would happen if I used mineral oil instead. All the 3 types of oil are offered by Shell in my country.
You'd have to look up an in depth video for the actual differences, but basically if an engine manufacturer specifies synthetic oil, that's what you have to use. 2-stroke engines have super-high rpms compared to 4-stroke, and if there isn't enough lubrication parts wear more rapidly and can fail, and fail more destructively.
I see, which one would you personally recommend/use Shell semi synthetic (affordable and abundant) or Castrol 2T fully synthetic (expensive and hard to get)
Really depends on the individual servo, but personally, Shell. Overall though it's better to go for newly built stations with less corrosion in the systems, and busier stations that get refilled more regularly. All that said - the Rovan probably won't tell the difference either way.
Hi Aaron, would it be ok to use Shell Advance VSX synthetic based oil as Shell does not sell a fully synthetic 2 stroke oil in my country. p.s fully synthetic 2T oil is very hard to find in my country, it can only be bought online for an expensive price.
I’m very important question and can you please someone answer? I just got my. Hpi Baja 5b today. And I was wondering, do you have to break in the engine? Is it required to do it or can I just drive it right away? Got confused and I didn’t read anything about breaking in the engine ready to run so can someone please answer I need help
You only have to break in the engine if you want it to last haha. It's not technically 100% necessary, but for the reasons outlined in this video, it's a really really good idea.
@@HobbiesDirect ok yeah i did break it in a bit I flowed the instructions and I think it is ok but when I first got it it would not start and I was trying to get it to start and I did a bunch of things and then all I needed to do was adjust the carburetor lol I even called customer service but they did not tell me nobody told me lol

250ml of oil in 1 litre of petrol (1000ml) is a ratio of 4:1, (or 1000 : 250, if that's easier to understand). The correct ratio, as in the video, is 25:1, which is 1 litre of petrol with 40ml of oil. Use 200ml of oil for making 5 litres of fuel.
Also check under the stop button cover that the button isn't stuck. Can happen, and makes you think it wont start.
Great tip!
My stop button hung in would not start
Just pull the plug cap off and put your finger in it. Pull starter

A lot of those higher-octane fuels have a high ethanol content, which is not something the Rovan engine and fuel system likes; stick to regular.

Now that the real HPI has started production for the Baja 5B again you should buy that instead of this clone, HPI quality is way better.

As long as the battery is in good condition, you should get a good couple of hours out of that battery - easy enough run time to do break in 🙂
🙏🏻 Thank you so much ❤,
Cool Buggies hope ya got deep pockets peeps lol
Thanks for the video.
You're welcome! 😀
Nice vid.

I wonder why the fuel goes off in the tank but not if you remove it. What’s the difference?
It will still go off in the tank, but not as slow as the container. You mostly remove it so that it doesn't go bad in the tank and gunk stuff up.
Still can’t believe I got 2 of these for $110 and they run and complete and spares
Bargain!
Because they were stolen. That's the only way.
Used? And where lol, wanting to get into gas and this is one of the most affordible options for large scale.
Did you no oil up the diff and fill the shocks before you used the buggy
They are filled from the factory; what you get in the box is just spares :-)

You should be able to just pull start it again, no choke procedure.
Thanks
Thanks for watching!

Think of it like this: if you'd use it in a sports 2-stroke motorbike, it's fine to use in the Baja 🙂

Is 26 cc oil & gas mixture ? Or only certain bigger engines ???
Yes, they run on 2-stroke fuel, which is a mixture of petrol and oil. The recommended ratio is in this video - 25:1 fuel to oil.

I thought 25 to 1 is 250 mil of oil to 1 ltr off fuel.not 200 mil? This is why I don't listen to youtubers who give you bad info
What engine is in that buggy
29cc, the stock Rovan engine.
So it is not an HPI product.
Not real difference, in fact rovans Nylon plastics are a lot more durable than HPI
