I applaud you being such a responsible pet owner- considering how practical it would be, if you have the space for a new furbaby (a lot of people don't consider that they need space), and perhaps the most important, whether Tilly would be happy or not. So many people dismiss the feelings of the current furbaby- their feelings count too!
When you started talking about grief, it hit me. I remember your video after your dad passed away and I would’ve never thought I’d be in your same position a year later. My dad passed away May 13 after being diagnosed with kidney cancer in Nov. It just doesn’t seem real most days. I do try to stay busy but then it’ll hit me sometimes while I’m driving or just grocery shopping. I just want to talk to him. Simple things. I know it will get better with time but boy, it’s tough.
My dad passed away last year & my mom 9 years ago! I still have trouble grieving, it will never go away no matter what you do. Especially someone as close as your family. Hope you’re doing better!
It’s taken me 10 years to talk my husband into getting a dog. We just got a beagle puppy and she is a literal angel. But holy guacamole it’s like having an (easier) newborn baby all over again. I was up 2 times last night taking her out potty. Then she was up at 6am. 🤣 I’m loving it though.
The puppy stage is brutal (it’s a good thing they’re so damn cute haha) but once they get older they turn into the *best* companions. Dogs are wonderful
@@kaseywaters7466 I mean at least I’m not changing diapers anymore. 😜 I really don’t mind any of it so far, because I truly am just so excited to have a dog again!
I’ve been grieving for my husband for 8 years now and it never really goes away. It’s a little easier to get through the day but my life changed profoundly & it’s amazing to me how many people don’t understand it or even want to try. I guess in the end it’s deeply personal & a really hard part of life. Bless you, & I love your look here. 💖
I'm originally from New York, but lived on Long Island. In 1971 a group of friends and I took the ferry to Staten Island and back, after going to a coffeehouse in Greenwich village, going to Washington Square, and the Italian Festival! In the background of my photos was the World Trade Center...under construction! It was only background in the photo....who knew what was to come.....
I feel you on the ‘ope’ thing. Not from the Midwest, but I got my bachelors in Iowa and that is probably the 1 habit 6 yrs post grad that I still can’t shake 😂 it also took me about a year to pronounce my A’s like I used to. Lol
yes to more Q&As and the NY video! I also think it would be fun to do a 3 days in NY travel itinerary like Taylor Wynn has done for Seattle. like what you would specifically recommend if someone was coming to NY for 3 days including the touristy/non touristy things, food, coffee, etc.
Makeup looks are so personal! It can be different by face shape, even difference in undertone! Crazy how different it can look. ❤ Been rewatching your old videos. Thanks Kelly!
Thank you for the advice about grief. My Dad just passed away last week. We knew it was coming, as he had been sick for a long time, but it is still hard.
New York has seen hikes in everything... I can guarantee part of the reason why rent is higher in NY and NYC is bc. of the Moratorium that just dropped off this past March (2022).... We saw so many landlords hurting for money b.c. the tenants didn't have to pay...and now the landlords are charging more because of all the money lost... plus the housing market has driven the cost of property values to go through the roof! People are paying 2 x's plus for the value of the house driving up property taxes ...in turn driving up rent. It's hit the pockets of many New Yorkers! Upstate is hurting so bad, too.
You are such a beautiful creature inside and out. I always learn something new about you even about the history of the product you might be using. But this Q&A was lovely because addressing grief with the honesty and authenticity of saying ‘allow yourself to be sad’ is literally priceless information. It’s nothing we haven’t heard and yet it still sounded new and I am grateful. 💖
I understand that rent is going up but I was so shocked to hear that. I am from Germany and the prices are going up as well in pretty much every area of spending, but thinking of a lease going up about 500€ still sounds a bit crazy and shocking to me
Your advice on grieving was so relevant. I lost my dad in August unexpectedly… My grief counselor has said to me multiple times that the only bad way to grieve is not to grieve at all. As much as it sucks you’ve got to let yourself feel things as they happen.
My coworker’s husband just died from a long illness. I went to get her a card and I was upset that most grieving cards seemed so dismissive of the event. “Time heals wounds” not really, hallmark. So many sayings were things I would never want to hear if I was going through that. There was only one card I liked, and it basically was “if you need to cry, cry. If you need to scream, scream, etc” which at least is an acknowledgement of grief and feeling, instead of those stupid sayings.
I live in South Georgia and things are going up in price of course but my mortgage for my 3 bedroom home is less than the amount your rent is increasing. When I heard you say that I almost passed out. I truly do not know how people afford to live in places like that it’s so crazy!
Definitely let yourself be sad! Feel the feelings! My dad died 19 years ago, my brother died 16 years ago and this past February my uncle committed suicide in our house that we all shared and yes we were home when he shot himself.
I got my PR rescue dog, Fudge (chocolate lab mix) when i lived in NYC. I lived in manhattan for 12 years and for a long time, felt the same, its tough to have a dog in NY. I lived in a studio 450 sq ft appt on the Upper West Side. As with rescues, i feel that he found me and i had to adjust. I took him to central park off leash hours and he had a blast. He enjoyed walking with his little friends with the dog walker. Since i have moved to a suburb in CT where there are beaches and huge dog parks but he still loves coming back to the city with me when i can take him to work. He has a special spring in his step, he finds the Central Park West buildings where he remembers which doormen have treats:) in summary, it might be a better experience than you think.
Those NYC rent prices made my jaw drop to the FLOOR. I'm in a medium sized city center in the Netherlands and my rent is about 650 US dollars for an 800 square feet apartment. In total. In TOTAL. I live alone and have a reasonably well-paying job. And your rent is INCREASING by hundreds of dollars, oh my goodness Kelly I am so shocked at this
Definitely love the Q&A. Pls do the pros and cons of New York City. That would be an amazing video!!!! My most midwestern thing is saying pop. Floridians say soda.. lol. But I also found bratwursts, shredded chicken sandwiches and the card game Eichre are all pretty midwestern.
Aw Kelly you’ve been through way too much for one young girl. You really prove no matter how put together someone looks you don’t know what they are going through. I find that very inspiring. Love you Kelly ❤
also with the not looking the same as a tutorial remember that photos will always look different then in person. It’s no secret people edit makeup photos especially whether it’s making the eyeshadow look more vibrant or the Highlight brighter. So don’t feel bad if it doesn’t look as saturated as a photo
i left new york 4 years ago and i can’t even imagine how much the prices have spiked since i left, but i still miss it like crazy!!! loveeee the look!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I actually really love these videos! Helps me get to know you better. Not that you're not open in your other types of videos too, but idk these are so nice to see 😊 and I'm here for any NYC content you want to film! I'm so intrigued by that city and living there and while I never will, it's still cool to hear about your experiences!

Loved this vid Kelly! I've been to NYC about 5 times, but never ventured on the ferries or Roosevelt island. Will do next time. And it's always so hard hearing about the grief you've had to deal with, I'm so sorry!
Thank you so much for your openness and and willingness to engage with us and let us into your life! I particularly appreciated the advice concerning grief, and I am SO sorry for your losses💔
Thank you for all the helpful tips regarding things to do and see in NY and Detroit. This was very helpful as I look forward to resuming traveling in the future. I really enjoyed your Q&A GRWM. It's really cool that you went on the Peach & Lily trip. Have a wonderful day!
I have to tell you, being a pet owner I really appreciate the fact you consider the best thing for the pet not yourself. The cost of living is crazy everywhere.. I can't imagine new York
Love you and your videos for their content but also as someone who has lost loved ones and my parents I am holding extra love and space for you. Your advice about grief is spot on. Sending lots and lots of hugs to you. 🖤
I love your commentary about the pros and cons of living in NY. I grew up in Brooklyn, which at the time and still is, worlds away from Manhattan in distance and personality. It's funny, I lived there for 29 years in Brooklyn, Long Island, and Queens and have no desire to ever go back. I think it is because I never lived in Manhattan. I think living in NY is much more enjoyable if you have a lot of money - live in Manhattan - avoid public transportation - and go to the Hamptons or Montauk on the weekends. I never got to experience that type of lifestyle and don't have such great memories. I've lived in Los Angeles now for a long time, and even though it definitely has its faults, I prefer this lifestyle. Always drive my own car, have more open space, look at mountains and oceans, and avoid winter. By the way, I have a Shiba Inu (it's my second one) and I just adore the breed (very independent, a bit quirky, very clean, easy to housebreak, not a barker, and very cute). Juno loves her family and couldn't give a hoot about anyone else (only downside is doesn't like other dogs). Love your content!
i love when you talk about Detroit! I live in Windsor, and we LOVE walking the Windsor riverfront too. Have you been to our riverfront? We get beautiful views of the Detroit skyline. :)
I'm in south Florida and my rent when up 300 and I was lucky my friend went up 600. Is bad because is not only rent everything else too. And is not Russia fault
Rent in Florida is so high right now families can’t pay and have nowhere to go. It’s so sad and scary. Rent was so high I had to buy a mobile home because lot rent is cheaper than rent. I don’t know how people could pay an 800.00 a month increase. That is insane to me.
Thanks for answering my question about Detroit! We’re going there in the fall for a getaway, i want to see the penguin exhibit at the zoo🐧 now we have a few other things to do while we’re there.
Here in the Midwest (Chicago/Indiana) Gas was just $5.59… How the hell, few days passed when I decided to go outside….it’s $7.00 🤣💀 Rent been went up! Since 2006! I was born in 1995) everything was cheaper. Then people be like “how you broke with no kids” Umm… I have to pay for groceries, gas, rent, insurance, credit cards etc! ( That trend question burns me up and pisses me off) I DONT STAY AT HOME WITH MY MOM! They don’t like that. I hate renting. You can’t do nothing renting. You can’t paint the walls but you paying 1000 for a 2BR apartment with a balcony! TBH… You’re only paying for the Pond and Balcony View. Then don’t get me started on the nasty neighbor and her kids:
