I love the translator, he got what Ivanova did and loves how she tricked his boss.
It's hilarious that's he's the most famous actor on the show, its Paul Williams! Yet they hid him in alien makeup!
Although she's a very serious character I actually think Ivanova has some of the funniest moments in this show.
Her sealing the deal in this episode is a good example.
Yeah, the actress that played Na'Toth in season 1 left, and they recast a new actress.
The episode shows how a war is viewed by parties who aren't directly involved in it. We can see it happen right now as well. It's incredibly difficult. Not everyone likes this episode, but I think it's important. It's important to show that B5 is having a hard time dealing with this war.
Apparently Claudia Christian had a great time "practicing" on set.
Yes, Ivanova does the job. I love that scene. Mind you, not everybody does. The translator knew exactly what was happening, and his smile at the end is priceless.
G'Kar's trouble is mounting. I love Andreas Katsulas' portrayal of G'Kar.
Be seeing you!
Re: The Lumati - the discussion about "serving evolution" should disqualify them for consideration as an ally... they wouldn't help an ally in a fight - they'd consider it serving evolution to let the strong survive, even if the weaker opponent was their ally
Closer to the Shadow ethos
Same Na'Toth, different actress. Caitlin Brown in season 1 and Mary Kay Adams in season 2.
That was not Captain Sheridans' old 1st CO. It was Gen. Hegg Don't chiefs of staff Of the Earth Alliance. He's a totally different person from the captain of the EAS Cortez
The Na'Toth actress returns in another role (or maybe 2? I forget exactly) - see if you can recognise her without her Narn makeup!
The original Na'Toth, we should clarify.
Agamemnon was the king who commanded the Greeks in the Trojan War, giving his name to the ship you can't pronounce. Bless me, what _do_ they teach these young people in schools?
I had suggested Agamemnon as the name for my first born, but in the end we decided people would have problems pronouncing it (and he would end up being called Aggy). It is also the first play in The Oresteia and a truly remarkable work in its own right. Presumably it is covered in Media Studies.
Or has Time Bandits been so forgotten?
@@simongiles9749 Gerard Butler learnt everything about how to play a Greek from Sean Connery, right down to the greek accent.
@@ianstopher9111 It's remarkable how Connery's Greek sounds so much like his Russian accent in The Hunt for Red October.
Greek Orthodox
Oh, this one. Oh boy....
Ag-a-mem-non 😁
B5 Bluray? Guess I'll be replacing my dvd collection
It's not a true remaster. It's basically the amazon/HBO version.
Wow, OK. New alliances then.
Nice to see Claudia dancing again.
Preferred her dance in The Hidden (1987).
She played a stripper.
Rather mixed on the episode - I hate the scene with Ivanova with the 'sealing the deal', it just feels too ridiculous that the other species would buy it. I do however like the satirical presentation of capitalism as eugenics, it's rather smartly done. If you know any politics/economics students I'd almost be tempted to ask how they would react if you showed it to them, but I feel like this would be a bad first episode!
At the same time, the 'realpolitik' in this episode of the hoops that Delenn and Sheridan go through to give what little help they can, and G'Kar being both grateful and disappointed, that is just fantastic writing as tough as it is to watch. Even Londo indulges in it with the punishment of the Narn, he gives a punishment that will satisfy his people without causing too many problems for the B5 command staff
@Gimil38Communism is fundamentally unenforceable beyond small community groups, but it isn't anything to do with eugenics.
